  2. If the Cubs win today, they'll be 6.5 back, not 5.5. Better than 8.5 back. Really? I think so. Can someone verify this?
  3. If we offer the best deal they'll bite. They aren't going to trade Buerhle for a worse combination of players just to spite us. Why would we want to trade for a rental? He isn't that big of a difference maker. Also, there's a microscopic chance he'd sign with the Cubs (he's basically said that the Cubs are the last team he'd like to play for) so, we'd be giving away players with years to go before arbitration to our intracity rivals. That's Karchner for Garland part deux. Besides, there are plenty of teams with higher ceiling prospects... The problem the Sox are facing now, and one of the reasons why they have sought to extend Buehrle, is teams aren't willing to part with ML ready and or top prospects for him (unless they are guaranteed to sign him longterm). If you read my posts, you'd know that I don't think we should.
  4. Especially since the Cubs are trying to catch his old franchise. Sure smells like conflict of interest to me. Why do we always get shanked?
  5. Buehrle: good left-handed starter going from AL -> NL Pierre: Crappy baseball player. the comparison is obvious. My point was that we aren't (or shouldn't imo) trade Marshall and other prospects for a 1/2 year rental, especially when getting Buerhle doesn't guarantee that we will even be in the race. If he signs an extension with us, then do it. Otherwise, don't bother.

  8. I don't think we trade Marshall plus more prospects for a rental. We need Buerhle to sign an extension in order to trade for him. Remember pierre.
  9. I'm so bored. Why can't the cubs play two games a day?
  10. Derosa can't play CF can he? Derosa, Floyd, Soriano would be our best offensive outfield.
  11. Eyre shouldn't be in the bullpen at all. Lou won't play him, and rightly so because he's sucked for 1.5 years now. The Cubs are paying his salary whether he sits on the roster or not and there are plenty of minor league players you can use to fill that spot that stand a very good chance of being something of an improvement over Eyre. He's a waste of a roster spot that could go to someone that might help the team win games. He should be told to either accept demotion to AAA or find another team that will pay him. If he found one, hey, we saved half a million as his new team will pay him league minimum. If he didn't (more likely), he'd either accept demotion or retire. Anyway about it, he'd be off the team. Agreed. Wasted roster spot.
  12. Derosa must be in RF I don't know, they didn't mention DeRo but it's hard not to put Floyd in RF too. I sure hope Aram doesn't get a day off today.
  13. No DFA one of the trifecta of suckage. Glad to see Petrick back, though!
  14. I would've liked to see the renteria slide. Otherwise no complaints.
  15. We didn't lose a game in wild card yesterday. Here's hoping for a cubs win, a padres sweep, and a giants win! Also, but less important, braves, phillies, and rockies losses!
  16. Come on cubs. I'll forget yesterday if you win today. Last more than 3 innings, Marquis.
