  1. It's tough to put this on the rookie, but Matt Forte is really going to decide a lot as far as what this offense can do. If the run game is a threat, the rest of it could all fall into place...somewhat.

Sweet...I'll be curious to hear what you think! This is my 3rd in a row it looks like. Did you order that iron set yet? I'm just curious as to how long it will take for them to get here. I ordered them on a late Wednesday night...it got to my door on Tuesday this past week.

Ok, so for Fathers day, I bout a Taylormade R7 driver with moveable weight technology. I have it draw weighted right now, and it's really helping me get my wrists to roll over and keep my drives in the fairway. I didn't miss a drive more than a couple of feet this weekend. I also just this past week finally got new irons. I'd been playing with a whole set from Walmart that I'd bought back in 1998, so I was due for an upgrade. I bought a set of irons from Pinemeadow Golf. They are Taylormade clones, and they rock. I was swinging very easy as I was getting used to them this weekend, and was hitting about the same distances I could hit while swinging hard with my other clubs. I was making much, MUCH better and more consistent contact. The clubs have more weight at the club head as opposed to my old set which felt way light. The weight helped me hit down on the ball a lot better, and my misses were a lot closer. I tend to top the ball frequently, and I only topped once or twice the whole round. (9 holes) I would've blown away my old scoring record if I had putted worth a damn. 2 and 3 putts killed me. I had 20+ putts on 9 holes...ouch. Don't think I can sell my wife on a new putter though..heh. The hybrids I'm not totally sure about yet. I got 3-4-5 hybrids. I'm totally not used to them yet, so I'll let you know what I think of them after a couple more rounds...(I'm playing a few times this week.)
  7. Cubs number 4, but that's not why I'm posting this. The comment is pure ESPN...
  8. He never had one before coming to the Cubs. His improvement was drastic and the decline equally so. It probably makes sense. It's just odd that the drastic increase and drastic decrease coincided so closely with his arrival and departure from the Cubs. I'm not implying anything...I don't know why it happened, I don't know if the park, or the coaches, or whatever had anything to do with it. I just find it curious.
  9. It's a big deal because it's a massive increase to previous years. He now has more GIDP than he has had in any single previous season. That's a problem.
  10. Lee just tied his career high of 18 GIDP in a season.

  12. Yes, this. I'd miss Gallagher but if parting with him means getting CC, then I am all for it. Of course, we have to sign Sabathia to an extension too. I think its going to be very hard for any team trading for him to sign him to an extension. They will have the inside track but I just think he is not going to at least test the FA Market. Also if we trade several prospects and lose him, we are still going to be getting those picks too which will soften the blow. I can't speak for this specific situation, but it seems like when guys get traded to a team during their FA year, it seems like they generally will sign an extension if a fair offer is made. I don't know if the's the newness of a team that is different, and thus "better"...or maybe it's faulty perception on my part, but it just seems like that's the way that it usually goes down.
  13. Seriously, what happened to Barrett? He just flat out lost his batting stroke after leaving the Cubs.
  14. Ha! Giggling like a schoolperson?? Wow...just use a different phrase if you're too afraid it isn't pc to say "Schoolgirl".
  15. If teams think about this stuff....maybe they don't care...I dunno...
  16. Could be a lot of things...maybe the kid had a nightmare and climbed in with mom and dad...
  17. No joke, I would much rather be active early rather than later. I don't want to wait till the last hour of the deadline like we did with Nomar. My guess is that the Indians will want CC representing them at the ASG, so I'm guessing it won't happen till after that if it happens.
  18. Marquis ERA+ 2005 102 2006 74 2007 101 2008 101 (not including todays game, which will surely push that below 100) I'd call that at or below league average. Calling that "consistently better than league average" is pretty misleading.
  19. But Hill's confidence is a fragile, fragile thing. If it isn't broken already, it's sure got a billion cracks.
  20. So Marquis hits, and then is pulled...awesome.
  21. Why is it wrong to yell at an obscenely insubordinate employee? In front of everyone to the point where that person physically assaults you? There was nothing wrong with confronting him...but Wade crossed a line here too. There are disciplinary measures that can be taken for insubordination. What did he think yelling would accomplish?
  22. Wade yelling at Chacon = Wrong. Chacon attacking Wade physically = Wronger.
