  1. Every time I read that guys name, in my mind, I pronounce it like Perry Ferrell, but in an Elmer Fudd voice. But yeah, Brad Biggs said on the radio this morning that Fewell is likely going to be the DC...and that given that Lovie won't change schemes, that Fewell is probably the right guy for the job.
  2. Man...that D-line is so fun to watch. They push the line 5 yards back almost immediately.
  3. Mangini to stay in Cleveland per Adam Shefter.
  4. Like it or not, the Bears success in the next few years is going to live and die by Cutler's success or lack thereof. It behooves the Bears to build this offense around him, and what works for him. Bates called plays while Cutler was in Denver, so there's a familiarity there, and at least some experience there as well. It's clear you're not a Cutler fan, and that's fine. But to pretend that taking some kind of hardline "you'll get along with whoever we pick, and you'll like it" stance with him is going to lead to anything positive is just fooling yourself. It's going to lead to more drama, and less wins.
  5. That's gonna be a circus.
  6. Phillips denies Martz has been hired... http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/01/ted-phillips.html
  7. PFT says they fired the O Line coach, but are keeping Arian after all. Apparently ESPN Radio Pittsburgh spread some bad info.
  8. Apparently the guy that said it on ESPN2 was Jim Trotter, and apparently Trotter had called Cutler a "Coach killer" two weeks ago... Until there's a name attached to it, I call BS.
  9. How about to get out of the area? In Chicago, he'd be around the same fan base and same media that tore him up while he was ND.
  10. Oh you rosy optimist you. They also cannot win.
  11. Made a few changes...updating some people's status... Based on this article I'm marking Fisher as safe... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/01/06/bud-adams-says-he-plans-to-keep-jeff-fisher/
  12. Frustrated at what? I got the impression the writers were lobbing softballs his way. He gets pissed when people question him. It wasn't all softballs. They were asking about third down problems, repeated failures, the contradiction of needing change but keeping the scheme the same, questioning the value of maintaining a scheme that has failed repeatedly. He sounded angry toward the end, and the last words he spoke makes it sound like they offered Marinelli the DC job and he turned it down. "Rod wants to remain in his current position as the assistant head coach, helping me with stuff like that, and coaching the defensive line. That's a full-time job." I think Marinelli found out that power ain't all it's cracked up to be.

  14. Referring to defensive scheme here?
  15. Well Harris played better the last two games, but he hasn't been a force for a couple of years now. Hopefully the last two games are signs of what we'll see him like next year, but I'm not holding my breath. I think Urlachers injury probably had an effect on Briggs, but I think "terrible" is overstating it.
  16. I admit, I'm not unbiased here as a BSU fan, but I have no idea what game you were watching if you thought TCU was good offensively. They scored 10 points...they had really only one good drive. They had 36 rushing yards for the entire game. They had some success through the air, but they came out behind BSU in total yards. Both defenses played very well, and both offenses sputtered on the big stage. I don't know what you saw that you thought was "better". calm down, he meant going into the game. Oops.

  18. Raheem Morris is staying in Tampa. Removing him from the list. Probably will be removing Lovie later today too...*sigh*
  19. Who is the finesse back? Forte sure isn't. How would you describe him? He's not a power back. You just said he's not all that fast...so how would you describe Forte's running style? "Bad" is not an option.
  20. Hell yeah Boise State! That was an outstanding defensive performance. They stopped TCU's running game cold.
  21. Wow. I like Bell, but we need a guy that can take over if Forte is hurt, cuz that's crazy. Not to mention completely ridiculous if the least bit true. Aside from this story, the Bears were probably in a position where they needed a 2nd or 3rd round RB anyway, to add to the pathetic production there. Of course, considering they need a couple first round lineman and a safety as well, that's a lot of needs. Well Forte admitted it was true... The only question I guess is what the Bears knew...but it sounds like they knew to me. I don't care if you have to put Peterson or Wolfe out there, you don't run a finesse back out there with a bum knee.
