  1. But why? If you are going to make a change, what is the point/benefit of delaying that change? Because you don't have to have someone Ron Turner or Bob Babich or Pep Hamilton or Rode Marinelli or one of the other bad coaches on this team take over in the interim. What's the point of going to one bad lame duck coach to another bad lame duck coach? I mean, if they think they can get Shanahan or Cowher easier by firing Lovie now, then I'm all for it. But short of that, I just think it's kind of pointless.
  2. I locked the other one because the topic title was pretty unclear at best, and it had no replies.
  3. The Suisham signing is funny stuff to me. I have a Redskins fan buddy at work, and he did nothing but whine about that guy all season, and nearly did a dance in his cubicle when the Skins released him.
  4. The last two weeks certainly provided more than enough reason, but I can't see that Christmas present happening just yet. Yeah...what would be the point of firing him with 2 weeks left? Let him limp along. He's getting paid well enough to ride it out. The point would be as an olive branch to the fans (Monday night could get really ugly, if not empty), and to give them an opportunity to talk to everybody that is available. I never get the "what's the point of firing midseason" sentiments. And I can't believe that about a month ago there were media members essentially laughing at the notion that Lovie needed to go. This team has been a major disappointment since the Super Bowl, the only marginal positive was the Cutler trade, and that has been all but a disaster to this point. You're paying Lovie for 2 more years. Let him coach 2 more games. He deserves the boos he's going to get. The opportunity to talk to other coaches is semi-valid, though, of course, there's nothing to keep them from talking to other coaches with Lovie still in place. The Redskins are showing how possible that is. Anyway..looks like it's a moot point. Lovie had his press conference.

  6. Yeah...I wish he was worth something in trade value.
  7. I'd like to see an offensive guy in here to work with him before I write him off. He's had a history of picks, but not at this pace. Not even close. Right now I'm still blaming a lot of it on Turner's offensive gameplanning, but maybe that's just me being in denial. I bought into Cutler-mania pretty hardcore.
  8. I think with the right coaching staff, this receiver unit could be good. With the routes and play design that Turner is calling, not so much.
  9. The local radio station is doing the "retro lunch hour"... They're playing "Don't Worry Be Happy".
  10. You can have all of our first and second rounders in 2010 for him.
  11. Can we all agree that at this point, it's been proven to be a bad idea to name your conference after the number of teams it contains?
  12. Go get Boise State. I'm sure travel would be a non-issue.
  13. And that same site lists the Bears o-line as 26th/32. There are problems all over the field. I have the opinion that a good offensive line can make receivers better than good receivers can make an offensive line. Exactly. The routes a receiver can run are severely limited when the QB has no time to allow the receivers to make their moves.
  14. That article is all kinds of fail. 1) Giants and Skins play this week...on Monday night 2) In week 17, the Giants are playing the Vikings at 1pm. The Skins are playing the Chargers at 4:15pm. There's not currently a Week 17 primetime game scheduled.
  15. You know, I thought that coming into the season, and it's probably true, but we sure used all of the depth we had this year. TE is really deep too, even if Turner doesn't know how to properly take advantage of it. Olsen has got to learn to block better though.
  16. Sounds like WR is a position they'll probably leave as-is. they can only fill so many holes in one off-season, particularly with no picks in the first two rounds. they don't really have much choice, IMO. at least WR is a position with several young guys who might develop. Yeah...I wasn't really criticizing it. I mean if one falls into your lap through free agency, or trade or something, then fine...but it's definitely not the biggest priority. I've said this several times before, but for me, the biggest priority has got to be O-line.

  18. I'm just gonna throw this out there....maybe each year is different. Maybe each year requires a different approach based on the free agent market, the demand for those players, the salaries being bandied about, the perceived quality of the players you currently have under contract, the number of holes you need to fill, and the moves that your division rivals are making. Maybe.
  19. Fun fact. Forte ran for 4.3 ypc, and still only got 12 carries.
  20. I guess Biggs is staying on the show even though he moved to the Tribune? Did they offer any reasons why the line was only 3? Lovie Smith's record against the Packers is the only thing that comes to mind. Huh...weird...I didn't know about Biggs' move till I read this. He wasn't on Mully and Hanley this morning, fwiw. At least not at the usual time that I hear it. Oh wow...Rick Morrissey went to the Sun Times too? Sun Times loses twice!

  22. Brad Biggs and Mike Mulligan were discussing how weird that line is this morning too.
  23. Heard a Lovie quote this morning on the radio. talking about how they were coming off a big win and now get a rematch against their rivals.... How is a home win over STL a big win?
  24. Boise State vs TCU is so lame.
