  1. This is great news and absolutely necessary.
  2. I'm curious....if you ignore the Miles part of this deal, would everyone still be happy with it? Fox for the 3 prospects?
  3. Wait, what? Hub Arkush made stuff up? You don't say... http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/12/espns-nfl-insider-shoots-down-cowher-report-on-wmvp-am.html
  4. No, but they don't lose their free agents either, and very few teams do spend huge on free agency. Chicago paid heavily for Tait and Muhammed, they stepped up for Ogunleye when he was holding out, they paid Urlacher and Briggs when most teams would let one walk. The reputation is left over from the Halas era, and the end of the Ditka era, when he blamed it all on cheapness. This organization doesn't have great owners, but in a salary cap game, there's very little an owner can do to make a positive difference. Good point....they pay their guys...no question. They paid heavily for Tait and Muhammed, though you can debate whether or not they were worth that...heh. But yeah...the point is the Bears weren't cheap in those situations....no doubt.
  5. Anything about Pace? LG, kinda like to see that. Shaffer at RT. I heard on the radio this morning that Pace out with an injury. Yeah...Pace is out this week. Williams needs to play LT the rest of the season...you gotta see what you have there. And Gooney, you're right...the Bears have an unfair rep as cheapskates. That said, they aren't known for signing top free agents, making big name trades (till Cutler of course) and they haven't gotten the big name head coaches in the past (although that could be a factor of timing as much as anything). I would say that's changing...Lovie was a pretty hot name when he was hired, and they were about to hire Saban, who at the time was the big name out there. With the names out there, I'd be really nervous if I was Lovie.
  6. Haha...supposed search warrants for medical records, etc....and what do we get out of it?
  7. Cowher just said this weekend that he wouldn't talk to any teams until after the season.
  8. What could you get for Urlacher at this point? He's coming off an injury, but the Bears can't be thrilled with some of the stuff he said in that Yahoo article, and he could bring in some picks. To answer your question, I wouldn't be opposed to trading Hester. I'd be curious if they ditch Lovie for say Shanahan or someone what their thoughts on Hester would be. Keep him as a WR? Or move him back to returns.
  9. Shocking. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/11/report-charlie-weis-out-as-notre-dame-coach.html
  10. That's assuming Tommie Harris will be back next yr, which I am convinced he might not be. As for the Adams trade, I think we need to reserve judgement on that for the time being. That trade wasn't made for this yr, but for next yr in preparation of losing one of the FA DE. So again, I think we have to leve the trade blank for the time being. They won't get rid of Harris. They have so many legitimate holes to fill...they can't afford to create new ones.
  11. I laughed even though I didn't want to.
  12. Peter King suggests that if Lovie ends up firing Turner, and ND fires Weis, that Weis could be a candidate for Bears OC. Total conjecture of course. And I think Shanahan is clearly going to be the most obvious rumor for the Bears the rest of the season.... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/peter_king/11/30/week12/4.html
  13. Real bad. I had given Jerry and Lovie a free pass for a couple years, and after the Cutler trade I extended that for Angelo, but man, that is going to hurt big time in April. Now they'll be picking somewhere around 75, I guess. The Broncos and TB are gonna get nice picks though.
  14. I just hope the available coaches factor into the decision. It's pretty unreasonable to think a crop of avaialble coaches like the ones that are out there will come along again in a year or two when you might finally be ready to get rid of Lovie. The Bears made the bold move to get Cutler, but most of the cost there was in draft picks. Now it's time to make the bold move for the coach to go along with it....this time it's gonna cost you more in cash...that's where the "cheapass owners" aspect would possibly take hold.
  15. Yeah, Brad Biggs is on the Score every morning, and he's the Bears reporter in town that I get the most out of, and he was suggesting this morning that it's time to move him to left tackle and see what you have. The argument is that he's playing out of position on the right, but right is supposed to be easier, so I don't know that he's going to be any better on the left. But at this point, you don't have anything to lose, and you can at least find out if the guy is a bust. How bad does that Gaines Adams trade look right about now?
  16. lol...Urlacher was making fun of Lovie in that article for wearing a jacket too.... I disagree still about Hillenmeyer. He did exactly what he was supposed to do according to the scheme that Lovie had drawn up. I'm specifically thinking about a play right up the middle...I think it was to Harvin...where Hillenmeyer was there and the ball just got by his outstretched hand... Like you said, Lovie keeps making the linebackers play from the line of scrimmage, which is just killing in the middle of the field. But I still think Hillenmeyer has been an admirable fill-in. He's no Urlacher, but I think he's still been valuable to this team this year. I think he's the best middle linebacker on the roster...though I suppose that's not saying a lot.
  17. Urlacher watching the Bears..."This sucks" http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ms-morningrush113009&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Sorry Brian, that defense isn't around anymore. hahahaha Good article though...actually shows Urlacher with a bit of personality.
  18. Angelo isn't going anywhere...really. He's got 4 years left on his deal....there's no chance that the McCaskey's just eat that. Maybe a year on Smith, but I just don't see it with Angelo. FWIW, as much as we all bagged on Hillenmeyer when the season started, he was the best player on the field yesterday for the Bears...they'd be even worse without him.
  19. I really liked Hub when I was a kid, but now I don't listen to a thing that comes out of his mouth. I think it's the earring. You have an earring that makes you not like Hub? Hub does, or at least he did last time I saw him on that horrible Pro Football Weekly show of his. An earring looks stupid on just about any guy, but on a man with horseshoe head it's horrible. I was attempting to be clever. My success is questionable.
  20. I really liked Hub when I was a kid, but now I don't listen to a thing that comes out of his mouth. I think it's the earring. You have an earring that makes you not like Hub?
  21. I trust Hub about as far as I can throw him.
  22. *sigh* This game was supposed to be important.
  23. The belief seems to be that Shanahan will be looking for coaching and GM duties. So unless Angelo is gone, he's an unlikely fit.
  24. I like Cowher personality wise, and I have more belief in him getting the most out of his players than I do with Lovie, but yeah...if the Bears were to actually defy conventional wisdom and replace Lovie, I think Shanahan clearly makes the most sense.
  25. They get it because they put the effort into doing it, no? It doesn't really bother me. Watching all three games uninterrupted is basically impossible and when Thanksgiving is at the in-laws, far less acceptable than at my family's. So the Lions game provides a decent opportunity to turn away from the TV and talk to people, which in turn makes you look like such a great guy to forego some of your precious football time for things like family. Also, it's great for napping. HA! Well when you look at it that way...:)
