  1. Boise plays both Hawaii and Nevada yet. I'm not sure how their SOS continues to dive. Those aren't top 10 teams, but one is ranked the other is just barely outside the top 25.
  2. I dunno if they should, but I think they will.
  3. Nevada winning is mostly irrelevant for Boise now. It makes very little impact in the computers. And the way the teams have shook out a win over a 9-1 Nevada team isn't really going to move them in the polls any differently than a 7-3 Nevada team. The team that would really help them to keep winning is Va Tech. If they win out and win the ACC Championship game that would definitely be a boost in the computers and a possible boost in the polls. The game that would really, really help both Boise and TCU is Oregon and Oregon State. If Oregon State pulled off the upset, it would knock Oregon out of the picture and it would provide a decent boost in the computers to both TCU and Boise. So a perfect storm for Boise St would be Utah beats TCU, Oregon State beats Oregon. Should set up Boise St and the winner of Auburn/Bama for the Championship?
  4. Well at least Auburn and Alabama both can't win out. I'm rooting for Oregon vs Boise St for the Championship Game.
  5. I'm trying to figure what result I should be wanting out of that game as a Boise St fan.
  6. Lame. I like Valentine. I don't like the Brewers.
  7. @Det would be the only other place I could even conceive of them being favored...and that would depend a whole lot on the Bears winning some games between now and then. They will be coming off Vikings, Dolphins, Eagles, potential 3 (or even 4) game losing streak. I don't see them winning in Miami on short rest. So it's going to take either a decisive win against one of those three or a win against Philly to give people a reason to back the Bears. Just to nitpick, it's impossible that they'll be on a 4 game losing streak. If they lose their 4 games between now and the Lions, that will be a 6 game losing streak, since they already have lost their last 2.
  8. @Det would be the only other place I could even conceive of them being favored...and that would depend a whole lot on the Bears winning some games between now and then.
  9. The way the Bills played this weekend, I'm not sure this is a gimme. Someone talk me off the ledge. I'm not a gambler, so I'm not sure the best places to check, but it looks like the Bears are a 3 point favorite. Here's Dan Pompei doing his best to talk me off the ledge with a crazy optimistic article: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/ct-spt-1101-pompei-bears-chicago--20101031,0,1164451.column
  10. No we didn't. He's like a cockroach. You can't kill him. You think he's gone? He's not gone. That's the whole point! He's never gone! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v421/Banedon/images.jpg SEE!!!!
  11. Did he fumble the snap, or lose it on a sack? Looks like they called it a sack/fumble.
  12. That's awful...I really want Rex to do good :(
  13. Joe Kelley Played for both the Boston Beaneaters and the Boston Doves....wtf. Had 87(!) stolen bases in 1896. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/7/78/JoeKelley.jpg/345px-JoeKelley.jpg
  14. Favre was the picture of health prior to that.
  15. If he still wants to close, he won't be coming back to the Cubs.
  16. If it wasn't gonna get Cutler killed, this would be getting to the point of being hilarious unintentional comedy... Garza should be back against Buffalo, and will be playing right guard, while Edwin Williams is going to be a backup.
  17. What if Hendry is gone? *drifts off to dreamland*
  18. http://www.csnchicago.com/10/24/10/Bears-notebook-Offense-tipping-their-pla/landing_bears.html?blockID=338023&feedID=626 Also apparently Hall was reading how many steps Cutler would take, and on three step drops would cut in front of the receiver.
  19. Does this make you feel better about the decision? Think Niemi wants to give Keith and Hammer a big hug right about now?
  20. I know in theory this is true, but is it a realistic concern? Managers and bench coaches aren't like QBs and backup QBs. My guess is this wouldn't actually happen that way, but the fear of it would prevent them from hiring him anyway. I'd agree if it was someone with a name that was hired. But, not to be dimissive of him...but Mike Quade is pretty much a nobody to the mainstream fans (and media), he only signed a 2 year deal, isn't making much, and if he were to be fired mid-season, there'd be nobody (or very few) that would have some serious attachment to the guy and cry for him to stay. I just think with Ryno as the bench coach, and Joe Anonymous as manager, it'd be a bad situation.
  21. It might make the final nail in the season happen a little faster.
  22. I don't know if they've given Quade the authority to hire his own bench coach, but if they did, I can't imagine he'll hire Sandberg. Every time that the Cubs would lose 2 in a row, the fans would be screaming for Ryno to take over. Quade would be looking over his shoulder his entire tenure.
  23. Bears sign punter Richmond McGee to practice squad as a backup for Maynard. There's some question as to Maynard's health apparently.
  24. As an extreme example, look at the football schedule. Most teams have played 7 games or so, and there are already teams that are "out of it" that are playing meaningless games. No matter how short the season, there's going to be a significant number of meaningless games...
  25. There will be nearly as many and they will just take place earlier. There were 14 teams at least 10 games behind in their divisions by August 31. 18 teams were at least 8 games behind for the wildcard. You mean to tell me that shortening the season by even 10 games won't reduce the number of inconsequential games in September? How many August games will be inconsequential when the season is shortened, since you'll now have fewer games to make up deficits? I'm not opposed to a shorter season, but not because it somehow makes the games more important.
