  1. Anyone would because the Braves competed in many WS and actually won one. If they hadn't won that one, would you still pick the Braves? Nobody can be sure about winning the WS, no matter talent level. Best you can do is try to make the playoffs as much as possible to maximize your opportunities.
  2. That article is like 5 hours old. We're way past that now.
  3. Pissing contest over. Back to football talk.
  4. This is exactly what I was hoping for. I sincerely hope that the Cubs, Marlins, RSox, Yanks drive up the price and he ends up sticking with the Cards but killing their payroll flexibility. Sounds more and more like he'll go to the Marlins.
  5. Martz just needs to go back to basics with the offense, and just go with some easy [expletive] until Jay is back. Just go to a "don't lose" offense.
  6. Not good, but to be fair, the pick was a drop from Williams.
  7. Pujols knows of the Marlins' fire sale ways, and that a 10-year contract screams 2 years, a World Series, and then summarily being dumped elsewhere to save money. Well yeah, and the Marlins have to leave themselves a way out if the attendance isn't what they think it will be at the new park.
  8. Posting here since Gaby Sanchez was being talked about here. Posting mostly for lol's.

  10. Me likey. I don't see Albert going for it. If he declines further, he could be SOL after a 4-5 year deal was up. OTOH, It could free him up to retire a Card after making a ton of money, if he were interested in such a thing. Uh...not talking about Albert.
  11. If the Cubs sign Fielder and then trade Garza, that would seem to be a conflict of interest unless they are getting a guaranteed young stud pitcher, which is basically not going to happen. In what bizarro world is that a conflict of interest? The bizarro world where if you sign Fielder or Pujols you have to be an immediate contender, otherwise it's a waste of time. Especially if its Pujols or Fielder on a 5 year contract. 'Twas sarcasm.
  12. Huh? He's saying that those teams are not a factor and they would want to opt out after a couple of years so they could sign in those markets. Which is ridiculous because the Cubs have an assload of money to spend and a wide opening at their position. Also, I highly doubt 1B in Boston is gonna open up any time soon. Or that they'll collapse in Sept, fire their long time manager, and their long time GM will leave for another team.

  14. Respectfully disagree. Lame, unfunny memes are meta. http://www.threadbombing.com/data/media/4/1240265992468.jpg
  15. Dude don't worry, Berkman is totally gonna hold up. My Cards fan buddy is fine with Berkman, and just wants the Pujols thing to end so they can move on and take care of the middle infield.
