  1. 15 min before I leave work....awesome... :banghead:
  2. If for some reason we don't end up with Pujols or Fielder, any interest in Lee at 1B? He's always hit really well at Wrigley. He's only under contract through 2012 and is owed $18.5mil. meh, had you suggested this 4-5 years ago i'd say hell yeah! not so much now Definitely getting old, but he was 4.6 WAR last season per B-R. Just another option that's out there.

  4. Boozer is "noticeably slimmed down", but won't reveal his weight... http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/basketball/bulls/chinews-slimmed-down-boozer-ready-to-20111207,0,7670910.story
  5. Lots of sources now saying that the Marlins have moved on from Pujols and have offered a 6 year deal to Wilson.
  6. My guess is they'll expand the payroll as a consequence of signing him.
  7. There was a slight discussion of this in the Marmol thread.
  8. Earlier though, Rosenthal tweeted they'll go after a starter rather than Fielder.
  9. Hey guys, I bet you $100 that you can't guess the ever changing number I'm thinking of.
  10. What if they're in at 6/$180? That would only leave $40M on the table and by then, who knows what you'll be able to get on a 4/$40M deal. I don't think it's a bad strategy if that's the way they're going. No idea if being the highest paid player by AAV would be something he's interested in, but it's certainly a possibility and worth a shot. They could throw some vesting years on the end too. If he meets some threshold in the last 2 years, it vests another year at $25mil or something.
  11. edit: Nevermind. It's the Reyes announcement.
  12. Yeah yeah, everyone else understood the point of the post.
  13. This is so weird...why would the Cubs even be bothering being involved when they're almost surely not going to match those years. And it's not like they can drive the bidding up any higher than the Marlins already have. What if the Cubs are offering significantly more AAV on a shorter contract? Like 4/$120 or 5/$150? Surely that'd keep them in the conversation. I guess I don't know why Pujols would take that, unless he's not about the total dollars and is more focused on being the highest paid guy in annual salary. He'd have $150m through age 36-37, but assuming Miami is offering 10/$220m, I don't think Albert could get > $70, over the rest of his career. And that's not factoring in the security of a 10-year deal. Or maybe he's not all about the money... I agree that I'd think that kind of contract would work much better for Prince. But maybe Pujols has enough ego to think he can maintain his success well enough for another deal?

  15. Sounds like it's a done deal...Street for a PTBNL.
