  2. Tom kept saying on MLBN last night that he wasn't buying the Cubs being in on Fielder. Sounds to me like he just doesn't believe Jed.
  3. Opening game of the MLB season this year....Cardinals vs Marlins.
  4. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/tom_verducci/12/07/winter.meetings.wednesday/index.html
  5. Except that this morning, ESPN MLB Rumor Central mentions a 10 year $220 mil offer from the Cards....
  6. Pujols also helped bring 2 titles to STL. Lebron bolted right when the Cavs were finally making some deep playoff runs, without ever having gotten a title. Also, the NBA is much, much more reliant on one or two superstars.
  7. There's another thread for the Pujols/Fielder related stuff guys.
  8. It'd be kind of funny if spending a bunch of time pining after free agents only to see them go to Miami became a thing. Who do the Bears want next year that the Dolphins can take away? Was having this conversation earlier with a buddy at work.
  9. Why? Him going there would be a very good thing, second only to him coming here...but him coming here for what he would be going to there for isn't all that great, so I'm ok with scratching off option 1. The fact that they pull all kinds of money out of their ass and all of a sudden are favorites for every top FA doesn't bother you at all? Plus, I'm still not over 2003. Eh. It's not the Yankees or Red Sox out there buying up all the FA's. So I'm kinda ok with it.
  10. So Theo closed on the house Oct 26th? When was it that he was announced again? Press Conference was on the 25th. The last week or two he was with the Red Sox he was probably house hunting on the web.
  11. I think they are serious when they say that their primary plan is to develop a long-term winner based on scouting and drafting. If they don't get Fielder or Pujols at a price they are happy with, I think they are more than happy to see what they can do with the DeJesuses of the world for a few years. Sooooo what are they going to do with all that money that can no longer go into the draft and apparently isn't going to go into major league payroll? CJ Wilson?
  12. Good, that means they are smarter than most of the other people on these boards. For someone who despises "these boards" as much as you appear to, you certainly can't help yourself commenting on it all the time. I've never said I despise these boards, but I didn't think Hoyer/Epstien were going to sign Puljos or Fielder to contracts longer than 5 years. I've pretty much said as much several times and been ridiculed for it. Now it looks very likely we won't be signing either one of them, and it feels good to be right. You said that the wouldn't sign them to longer than 5 years? Or that that they shouldn't? Cuz those are really vastly different things.
  13. Fielder would make an awesome DT for the Bears. Haha...oops. Wrong thread, obviously.
