The big problem was that it was allowed to get as far as it did. As long as the NBA owns the Hornets, any trade they make is an inherent conflict of interest.

yeah, i was just going to say the same thing. running those numbers is hard, and the people involved here are not smart. they almost certainly just looked at the tax rates in each state and assumed yearly salary times state tax rate equals money lost by not going to florida or texas.
