  4. There's a few "wow's" but yeah.
  5. Shefter apparently said on sportscenter that the Chargers were immediately interested in Lovie after he was fired, but wanted to hire a GM first.
  6. Apparently Carolina is sticking with Ron Rivera.
  7. SBNation did a one round mock draft. Has the Bears taking Jonathan Cooper, OG from North Carolina. Ogletree wasn't picked. http://www.sbnation.com/nfl-mock-draft/2013/1/7/3842518/nfl-mock-draft-2013-tyler-wilson-geno-smith-chiefs-cardinals not a fan of that draft.
  8. A health RG3 and the Redskins win that game last night. Seattle is a good, upcoming team, but I'm pretty meh about them.
  9. Bills hire Doug Marrone. So I guess the Bears won't interview/hire him. And I guess Lovie has to find somewhere else to land. I'll actually be a little sad if he doesn't end up with a job.
  10. Sullivan would be an extremely disappointing hire.
  11. Acknowledging that the protection and receiving talent is crappy and saying Cutler needs to improve on facets of his game aren't mutually exclusive concepts. You can bet any offense/QB inclined coach we bring in is gonna work on Cutler's fundamentals and footwork. He has a lot of the signs of a guy who has played with crappy players around him dating back to Vandy. Kinda like a running back who never has anyone to block for him and doesn't know how to set up his blockers once he finally does. Sure, he can work on fundamentals. And I'm not saying he's perfect. But I bet that working on his fundamentals is a lot less important to him than working on his survival in these past 4 years. I think getting a real offensive system in place, with strong, creative coaching will do a lot more to improve Cutler's performance than any footwork drills will.
  12. I disagree. I think Cutler has pretty good footwork. He vastly improved his footwork coming into the 2011 season. Hell, Moose Johnston was commenting on how well Cutler was moving in the pocket against the Lions. Just because he will throw off his back foot doesn't mean he doesn't have good footwork. It just means he throws off his back foot... and he's pretty damn good at it. I think the only reason Esiason mentions Cutler's footwork is because prior to 2011, it was the go to criticism on Cutler. That and his "bad attitude". Boomer is just regurgitating what he's heard before because he's not good at his job. He hamstrings his own ability to move around in the pocket and make/extend plays by sitting on his heels. It's a problem that I hope any coach that comes in can help clean up. i don't think that's accurate at all. he extends plays as well as any QB in the league and he throws from his heels so often because if he didn't he'd have a smashed-in face. When he gets on the perimeter he's good. His movement within the pocket to get himself good throwing lanes is below average, IMO. Rodgers, Brady, Manning, Brees, Big Ben are very good at it. Yes, the best QB's in the league are very good at playing quarterback. I agree. Cutler moves around in the pocket very well, as was pointed out by the crappy announcers during the Lions game. It's hard to find passing lanes when all of your receivers are covered, and your O-line is scrambling against a bullrush.
  13. If only someone had said something sooner, maybe a post above this. I'm too cool to read other posts in the thread.
  14. Well [expletive], every QB has had a bad fumble or two if that's all we're talking about. Cutler had 8 fumbles. RG3 had 12. I wonder if RG3 is considered lackadaisical in the pocket?
  15. @AdamCarriker94 Tony Romo, Michael Vick, and Eli Manning walk into a bar.... to watch the playoffs.
  16. Norm Macdonald has been hired by Grantland to write about golf. http://www.awfulannouncing.com/2013/january/norm-macdonald-hired-as-golf-columnist-by-grantland.html
  17. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-chicago-bears-jay-cutler-horrendous-esiason-20130104,0,1841301.story I couldn't disagree more about being "lackadaisical in the pocket". But it's Cutler bashing season I guess. CUTLER SUCKS CUZ HE ISN'T PEYTON MANNING
  18. This post caused me to google "most shocking heel turns"...top results were freaking Bleacher Report. They had this as #3. They suck at everything.
  19. I don't think she's Tebowing. She's kneeling, but she's not doing the fist to forehead pose.
  20. Isn't the OL repairable? Given one or two solid additions? Assuming so, and with an offensive HC, it's not all that far reaching the Bears offense could dramatically improve. One or two? Its' going to take at least 4 for the longterm. In the short-term you'd need 2 at the minimum and probably three to actually make it a good line. FWIW, Dan Bernstein has been saying for a couple days that his sources tell him that Carimi was injured most of the season, a lot more than was being told, and that he was essentially playing on one leg, and that the Bears think that a healthy Carimi with a full training camp will be a lot better next season, and not to count him out.
  21. @FrozenNotes Report: NHL season will be canceled next week if a deal isn't in place.
  22. Another article about that Theo interview... http://fullcount.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/red-sox/2013/01/04/theo-epstein-on-ryan-dempster-changing-a-clubhouse-culture-and-flowers-for-j-d-drews-wife/
  23. That's where Clements would be a good hire. He's got a good track record with QB development.
  24. How in the world can you possibly say what style of offense the Bears will play in the future? Especially if Jay isn't here after next season. There's been a lot of talk radio wishful thinking that the new coach will try to get a new QB in here, but I seriously doubt that happens. I would be shocked if the new coach didn't get a new QB in the draft within the next 2 seasons. They won't get anybody worth getting from outside the organization, but they will be drafting one shortly. Yeah, but they'll re-sign Jay is my point. People hoping that the new coach will come in and send Jay away are going to be disappointed.
