  3. Doesn't seem like Eagles fans are thrilled, based on message board posts.
  4. Glazer and Rapoport confirming the Kelly hire.
  5. @MortReport Chip Kelly is the new coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, according to league sources. No announcement yet.
  6. I think we can say this....J-Webb Nation is probably not feeling as safe these days as they were under Mike Tice.
  7. Good thought on twitter, wondering if Marinelli is wavering on the off chance that Lovie gets a HC job somewhere, so he can follow him.
  8. Holding on to what? I'm not talking about reports of an extension from the media. I'm talking about the discussion on here in reaction to those reports. Ah, ok.
  9. I'm not implying it, I'm saying it. Trestman will not have a huge say on the specific players brought in. His scheme will effect which way Emery goes, and in August he will be the one making decisions on whether to cut guys or not, but he won't be Bill Parcells shopping for his own groceries, a post-Super Bowl Lovie getting specific names he wants. If the offensive line is going to be "reformed" it is going to have to come from personnel men making the right decisions on offensive lineman that are not currently in the organization. did you even listen to emery's press conference? you've taken an idiotic stance and now you're married to it because of your inability to admit that you've ever been wrong. Really? You still want that extension for Lovie? I think you're holding onto that a bit too much. We don't have any idea how serious that ever was. The "source" on that was Terry Boers, who is far from an iron clad source.
  10. Actually, everybody seems to say that he is a players coach. This Rice/Brown situation seems to be an exception.
  11. http://jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/081797/1c1rice_.html That doesn't jive with what Tim Brown said a bit ago on ESPN 1000. Brown didn't like Trestman because he made Rice the #1 receiver over Brown, who thought he was better at that point. Sounds like there was some serious WR ego issues going on there.
  12. I'm basing it on his complete lack of exposure to top football talent for the past 8 years, the fact that he's a new head coach and working for an organization that has made it clear the GM will make personnel decisions while the coach will coach. Trestman will make decisions about the final roster when it's time to cut guys, but Emery will be the one bringing in the talent. I don't share your pessimism about the Trestman hire, but I agree on this. Emery will be taking care of the personnel. Trestman will stick to coaching.
  13. The Bears are going to have to offer serious extensions to the staff they want to keep on. There has to be payback for forcing them to avoid interviews these past few weeks. I think guys could've gotten interview permission if they wanted to badly enough, or if there was interest. Marinelli is under contract, so the Bears could force the issue, but that may not be ideal, obviously.
  14. Michael Wright says DeCamillis is still waiting to hear back from Dallas about getting out of that deal.
  15. Sean Jensen says Bears want Marinelli to stay, but that Marinelli may not want to.
  16. NICE! That's great. DeCamillis was rumored to really want the Bears ST job. Kind of explains the six hour interview. Jeff Dickerson implied on the radio that the "assistant head coach" title was a way to make the job a promotion in order to get him to be able to get out of the contract in Dallas.
  17. I mistakenly put it at 10am today earlier, but corrected it to 10am tomorrow. Sorry if I misled.
  18. NICE! That's great. DeCamillis was rumored to really want the Bears ST job.
  19. Tim Brown on ESPN radio and kinda bashing Trestman a bit. Apparently they didn't get along well cuz Trestman made Jerry Rice #1 over Brown.
  20. We let him go. Emery had to let him go after interviewing him for HC position and not giving it to him. I'm not so sure it's such a huge loss. Special team success relies as much on the emphasis placed on it by the people in charge as anything else. Toub was fortunate to work in an organization that did more for special teams work than the offense. Almost from the beginning they were drafting guys like Manning and Hester with a huge emphasis on their return ability instead of what they can do the rest of the time on the field. I'm with Goony on this one -- return men themselves play a huge role here. It's not surprising that good college returners are so often good NFL returners, and there seems to be a lot of false attribution with respect to Toub. Will Gould suddenly be a terrible kicker now that Toub is gone? Will our punting game suffer? Will Peppers be less likely to block a kick? I don't think so. Yeah I'm not arguing that point. I think ST will be fine. Coverage might be the place where Toub's absence is most visible. I still give Toub credit for the awesome Knox return vs the Packers, despite the penalty.
  21. Haha! Only found the article cuz Ian Rapoport tweeted about it
