    So McCoy is getting hired in SD. With Arians cancelling his Eagles interview, I'm thinking the odds on him getting the Bears job just jumped by a lot.

    The Bears played 5 games this year against teams that played this weekend. In those 5 games, the Bears scored only 53 points.

    I was wondering if he'd be a massive overreach for the Bears in the first? Definitely. If you want an OL with the Bears' first pick, you have to trade up or down. After the shoving match with McCarron, you know the meatballs would love him in Chicago. Olin's rightful heir at center. Eh, the shoving match really doesn't do much for me, but I do like that he supposedly can play multiple positions on the line. Also I'm really poorly informed on college players, and am going mostly on what I read rather than anything that's been seen.

    I was at a wedding dinner last night, so I missed the majority of the 2nd half of the Ravens-Broncos game, and the Packers-49ers game. I have a sad from not seeing those. :( But they both went the right way for the Bears coaching search, so yay! Love this tweet from last night...

    If your publicist is just now learning how to use social media then you need to hire a new publicist, Sammy. Also, if pinterest is where your publicist goes for your first foray into social media, you might need to hire a new publicist.

    I would be disappointed, although not devastated by this hire. He's older than and has been out of the NFL longer than both Gruden and Cowher. His NFL resume is scattered, at best. His last American job was as an OC at a third rate college team. I question how much respect he has among NFL coaches and how much pull he will have in trying to bring quality ones on to this staff. Theoretically he could keep the entire defensive staff in place, plus Bates as his OC, and then he'd just have to fill out the offensive underlings. But that is going to be important. I completely agree. I know you don't agree with my Cowher and Gruden reservations (I'd live with Gruden though), but like you said...Trestman has been out of the NFL for far longer than either of them. Like you said, too, his offensive staff would be very important, given how long it's been since he's been involved in an NFL offense. Disappointed though not devastated would be a perfect description.

    Yeah really starting to like him as a decent #3 option. Hopefully Houston, Denver and Green Bay all lose thisweek so we can get something done fast. McCoy and Dennison are my top 2. Has Clements done much of anything besides being a QB coach? He's only been OC for 1 year right? yeah, but that doesn't mean anything. i don't believe mccarthy himself was an OC for more than a year with the niners. The argument for Clements would be that he has success coaching QB's. But he's apparently doesn't really have a HC personality, and certainly not the one that Emery is looking for.
