I don't know if I could be friends with a Cardinal fan. It might be a litmus test for me. He'd have to have a great personality. Personality goes a long way. He'd have to be one charming mother [expletive] Cardinal's fan. I mean he'd have to be 10 times more charming Jon Hamm. Living in the middle of the state, it's tough...it's a really even split of Cubs/Cards fans. My in-laws are Cardinal fans too. Not a big problem with the Father and Mother in law, but my brother in law...he gets mouthy.

I've been conflicted about this all weekend, but I think I want the Pirates in the WC for a couple of reasons. 1) The reason Sammy said, that we can eliminate a tougher team in one deadly stroke. The Cards are a mess. 2) Losing to the Pirates in the WC would be less soul-crushing than losing to the Cardinals in the WC would be, were a loss to happen. -

My Cardinals fan buddy texting me last night about how sports suck last night just made my weekend. He's been convinced for some time that the Cardinals aren't going to do anything in the playoffs, and Martinez going down, and Rosenthal's blow up last night just sent him right over the [expletive] edge. He's a good friend, and normally I wouldn't take joy in his pain, but [expletive] the Cardinals.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm really having a hard time working up any emotion at all about the Bears right now, positive or negative. It's just a shrug of the shoulders for me. I watched till somewhere in the middle of the 2nd quarter and decided I had better ways to spend my time. I think my positivity about the Cubs is keeping me from being able to be too negative on the Bears.

He and that team deserve each other. Also if the Cubs ever had the chance to knock a Dusty-managed Marlins out of the playoffs one day, that might be one of the most cathartic moments of my sports fan life. +1, with that Asshat Fernandez on the mound. What do the texts prove though? Cuz apparently it was the friend that was wanting to stay...it wasn't like Kane was keeping her from leaving...or at least we haven't heard that accusation.

I don't see how what the mom did really matters. The witness testimony and the rape hit evidence is crucial. It matters in that it made the whole investigation look like a total clown show, and it wasn't. Legally, yeah, it doesn't matter. But if the case was already slip sliding away, and the mother was trying to "rescue" it, then this would make a little more sense.

But I thought that the DA wasn't going to discuss the Kane investigation, and then he talks about the grand jury.

DA- The question in my mind is not WHEN this case will go to a grand jury. The question is IF this case will go to a grand jury.

Matt Spiegel said something yesterday (paraphrasing) that people needed to stop rooting for this as if it were a sporting event, and not be rooting for your team to "win". And the DiCaro thing is awful. She's done nothing to deserve this.
