I don't see how what the mom did really matters. The witness testimony and the rape hit evidence is crucial. It matters in that it made the whole investigation look like a total clown show, and it wasn't. Legally, yeah, it doesn't matter. But if the case was already slip sliding away, and the mother was trying to "rescue" it, then this would make a little more sense.

But I thought that the DA wasn't going to discuss the Kane investigation, and then he talks about the grand jury.

DA- The question in my mind is not WHEN this case will go to a grand jury. The question is IF this case will go to a grand jury.

Matt Spiegel said something yesterday (paraphrasing) that people needed to stop rooting for this as if it were a sporting event, and not be rooting for your team to "win". And the DiCaro thing is awful. She's done nothing to deserve this.

I'm not the biggest DiCaro fan but she's getting a lot of [expletive] for nothing on her Twitter feed. She's always been neutral through all of this giving her lawyer POV and (probably) wrongly trusted the accuser's lawyer (not the worst thing in the world) Has she been neutral though? Hasn't she been in favor of them cutting or trading Kane all along?(I'm asking, because she litters my timeline so much in these instances, I don't come close to reading them all) By wanting that(if I'm right on her), doesn't that basically put her on the girls side? Again, not a hockey fan and if this happened to a Cub, I'd hate it and wouldn't know where I'd stand on the player being on the team or not(at this pre trial stage). But if you want the guy off the team, pre trial and before anything is actually known, it seems to me she does have her mind made up. If my thinking is wrong here, I'm more than willing to listen and learn otherwise. If you haven't been reading her tweets, you probably shouldn't judge her intent from them. She's remained quite neutral, but because she's not been on "Kane's side", she's perceived as being on the "victim's side". She's caught an unreasonable amount of flack, including death threats ...so I'm willing to be a bit understanding of her being a bit hostile toward some twitter people.

He was talking on twitter last night that now we'll never know what really happened, which is probably true...and lamenting that, which is reasonable. The he went on about not knowing if he can be a fan of the Blackhawks after all this came out last night, which I think is silly.

Well it's just for travel, so maybe it adds a couple extra days for the Finals. But yeah...I'm already sick of basketball by the time the Finals roll around. This won't help.

Related note: Cubs have 3 of the top 11 players in the NL by fWAR. Is that good? Also 4 of the top 20. Article did say"all evidence" All evidence that Erie County received. If they were only sent a portion of what was gathered, and the rest remained in Hamburg, or perhaps was disposed of? Again, I don't know how this works.

Nothing is clear. My thought is that they took legit, chain of custody samples to send off for analysis, and that the bag from this morning was the "leftovers", but I have no idea how this works.

All Kane's lawyer has to do is make this messier and messier. The more that facts get obscured, the easier it is for Kane to walk. And that's his job here. So far, he's doing a pretty damn good job.

@SWhyno Hamburg Police says in statement that its handling of evidence and chain of custody "is unassailable" in Kane case.
