Sure. But the only reason it's fun to laugh at *them* and not the millions of other idiots is because they disagreed with you on a specific subject. Just like the only reason it's fun to post stats stripped of context is because they vaguely allude to a real point I like to argue. Not true. We've all had dumb opinions that are fun to look back on. Hell, I mentioned how it was fun to look back at the start of the Rizzo thread due to the concerns we all had, and I started that thread. I'm more than willing to laugh at myself. I'm also willing to laugh at others. And yes, it's a little better when they were idiots.

I don't know if I could be friends with a Cardinal fan. It might be a litmus test for me. He'd have to have a great personality. Personality goes a long way. He'd have to be one charming mother [expletive] Cardinal's fan. I mean he'd have to be 10 times more charming Jon Hamm. Living in the middle of the state, it's tough...it's a really even split of Cubs/Cards fans. My in-laws are Cardinal fans too. Not a big problem with the Father and Mother in law, but my brother in law...he gets mouthy.

I've been conflicted about this all weekend, but I think I want the Pirates in the WC for a couple of reasons. 1) The reason Sammy said, that we can eliminate a tougher team in one deadly stroke. The Cards are a mess. 2) Losing to the Pirates in the WC would be less soul-crushing than losing to the Cardinals in the WC would be, were a loss to happen. -

My Cardinals fan buddy texting me last night about how sports suck last night just made my weekend. He's been convinced for some time that the Cardinals aren't going to do anything in the playoffs, and Martinez going down, and Rosenthal's blow up last night just sent him right over the [expletive] edge. He's a good friend, and normally I wouldn't take joy in his pain, but [expletive] the Cardinals.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm really having a hard time working up any emotion at all about the Bears right now, positive or negative. It's just a shrug of the shoulders for me. I watched till somewhere in the middle of the 2nd quarter and decided I had better ways to spend my time. I think my positivity about the Cubs is keeping me from being able to be too negative on the Bears.

He and that team deserve each other.
