  1. The funniest thing about this segment is they'd compare each player with a screen that showed things like their OPS and some kind of defensive rating, yet basically all they would talk about were dongs, batting average and "intangibles." Of all they ways to try to analyze the Cubs, position by position may be the absolute worst way to do it, given how many guys on this team play multiple positions, and how we don't even have a regular LF. They use Soler who has played less games in LF this year than Bryant has.
  2. He looks pretty decent last night. Maybe he really did have a hamstring issue?
  3. I haven't been able to hate Edmonds since that year on the Cubs. And i hated him pretty hard prior to that. I don't even mind him when I've caught him doing Cardinals broadcasts, honestly.
  4. There's too much of a good thing, and then there's way too much of an okay joke. Random pictures and gifs of seals(a dozen in less than 2 pages of this thread, for example) every time La Stella's name comes up isn't humor. Tommy is surprised you feel this way. http://media.tenor.co/images/abb61bb841113991f9f720e515640ffc/raw
  5. lol espn. Bonds averaged .349/.559/.808 from 2001-2004. Maybe they're excluding the steroid era? Only counting guys within .010 of a 1.000 OPS? Guys who don't play on the east coast don't count maybe? Or just trying to draw clicks from NYers who want to see Ruth & Gehrigs names in print. KB is the guy for sure. Seems like a shoe in MVP right now, and to me the most valuable player/contract in the league. But seems like they'd want to choose their words more carefully when running his season up against the history of the league. I'm guessing they're talking about players who could check all of those boxes, and Bonds never had a season with 188 hits He also never had a season with 136 runs scored.
  6. The Cubs are good at defense. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/heres-why-the-cubs-are-on-pace-to-be-the-single-best-defensive-team-ever/

  10. Yeah, Wood's been pretty terrible of late. Which is too bad cuz I really do like the guy. Hope he figures it out this month.
  11. If anyone is interested....cheap Cubs-Cards tickets in STL.... http://m.mlb.com/cardinals/tickets/info/mcdonalds
  12. why do this today instead of tomorrow when they wouldn't have had to mess with a corresponding move?
  13. I'd argue that Szczur is a harder name to spell than Zastryzny. At least with that one you can sound it out...if you can say it.
  14. It's pure jealousy talking, but this is my least favorite thread on the site. On a number of occasions I've considered changing the topic title to "STH not-so-humblebrag thread".
  15. She does seem pretty legitimately upset. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Gcmd0E73Xo
  16. Odd that Bryant wasn't in that.

  18. lol, you're using the MLB twitter account as your "marketing" definition? I don't even follow that account, actually. Try @Cut4 or @MLBGifs. MLB's Twitter has 6 million followers, Cut 4 has like 700k and MLB Gifs has 200k. So I'd say that MLB has a greater reach than either of those two. I was just pointing out how ridiculous it is the main MLB Twitter has posted more about Tebow in a few hours than Trout all year. The NFL has almost 20 mil followers so maybe the MLB marketing dept knows what it's doing in trying to target those fans.
  19. lol, you're using the MLB twitter account as your "marketing" definition? I don't even follow that account, actually. Try @Cut4 or @MLBGifs. Also, just searching for the word "Trout" doesn't mean they didn't tweet about him. It just means they didn't use his name. This one won't show up in a search for Arrieta... Nor will this show up in a search for Beltre...
