  1. I posted this at the end of yesterdays game thread, but here it is again. If we lose today, we'll be 18-28. The exact same record as 2002 on the same date. Don Baylor was fired on July 5th, 2002. Quote from 2002: What's the difference between Baker and Baylor?
  2. You should post this in Rivials. It will drive the Cardinal fans stark raving mad. K-town will probably pee himself while typing. With good reason, it's a friggin' ridiculous assertion. Of course it is, but the way I see it, it will keep them busy for a while and I will get a laugh at how serious they will take it. It's like cubbierich's ridiculous Pujols is a coward thread. Reading that is high commedy We discourage trolling on this board, and what you described is pretty much the definition of it.

  4. 1,2,3,5 and 6 are all equally horrible IMO.
  5. For what it's worth, if we're following the 2002 template, Baylor didn't get fired until July 5th.
  6. When was the last time they had this bad of a winning percentage, this late in the season? They are at .400 right now. In 2002 they finished at .414. It's one thing to be 9 under in September, but when you are 9 under in May, that shows you something. On May 24, 2002, the Cubs were 18-28, a .378 winning percentage, 9 games behind the Reds. A loss today and they'll be 18-28, isn't that a .391 winning percentage? I apparently completely made up that percentage, but ESPN's standings show 18-28 as a .367 percentage. But yeah, I get .391.

  8. I wonder how much of this is just Stark speculating, and how much is actual inside info.
  9. Would Gerry Hunsicker be interested? You want me to call and ask? Sure. Tell him it's a done deal if he brings Roger with him.
  10. I'm stuck at 1 until the ASG. Even if they get swept by the Florida Marlins? They of the AAA team?
  11. Which step are you in Scott? Somehow I'm experiencing step 2 and 5 at the same time.
  12. I know sunnydoo just made a nice Corey "dig" today too...something about how a Pie callup won't happen until September because of the Cpatt disaster... Maybe the Cubs are the disaster...not Cpatt.
  13. Any sentence including the bolded area, is inherently not hilarious.
  14. have you seen huff's stats last year, and his stats this year so far? Yeah, this season is ugly. G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB BA OBP SLG Season 23 77 7 13 2 1 1 7 0 .169 .270 .260

  16. Especially when the Chippewa County Middle School team keeps beating us.
  17. They have a lot of physical talent, and athletic talent, but not nearly enough baseball talent. Michael Jordan was a fantastic athelete, amazing physical specimen, and couldn't play baseball worth a lick. I'm amazed he wasn't in the Cubs system. In all fairness, he hadn't seriously played baseball in over a decade when he had his little stint. ARod wouldn't hit very well if he put down the bat for that long. Of course, that doesn't mean he would have been very good if he had played competitively every year from high school on. My point was that being athletic doesn't mean you can play baseball.
  18. Because he has a 3 year contract...he's underperforming, as is Pierre. Pierre has gotten plenty of criticism. Aramis has a history of performing well, so he's gotten a bit more slack. And Murton is essentially a rookie...an uneven season was expected.

  20. Um...that doesn't even make sense. Of course there is another way. Fire him. Hire a manger with a clue. How is that not another way? I think he meant that where there is smoke there is fire. Maybe...I'm simply hoping somebody comes by with a cold bucket of water.

  22. Here's the Suntimes article about Ryan saying he was misquoted. He also is quitting the show, which his charity was being paid for his appearances on...
  23. I hoping with every fiber of my being that that doesn't happen. Because you're right...that's going to be a real problem for me.
