  1. These non-Cub games put me to sleep...I'm not used to all the pitch taking going on! Don't these guys know to swing at the first pitch?
  2. Well Brown is on the IR for the rest of the season. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2632109
  3. Isn't Steve Smith pretty similar? Carolina still worries me if we were to meet them in the playoffs.
  4. More defense in the draft I guess.
  5. Brett Favre threw for about 4000 yards the past two years. Would you really want him quarterbacking your team these days? I sure wouldn't. I'm not saying you necessarily have to throw the ball short every play, but you have to know when to throw the ball away and know when a certain throw is a low-percentage play. Favre is a guy who will try to squeeze a pass in between 3 defenders because he has confidence in his ability to do so. Sometimes it works. Sometimes he gets burned. Personally, I'll take the guy who just doesn't make those types of throws. If the Bears can score quickly on like half their possessions, yeah obviously the game is going to get ugly. But, if that isn't working against a good defense, they need something else. And, with that great defense, I'd feel better about going 3-and-out, punting, and forcing the other team to go most of the field, than to piss the ball away with stupid throws and give the other team the ball with a short field. Favre is old, his skills are deteriorating, and he has poor talent surrounding him. If you're asking if I would want...say...1998 Brett Favre on this Bears team...I would...except that I loathe Brett Favre because of rivalry reasons... :P
  6. lol, can we get a question mark up there? All better?
  7. It's possible this has been posted elsewhere, but this was in todays Daily Herald. We'll have to see if he means that, or if he's just saying it to say it.
  8. From that same article: Besides...I don't think ABC is getting ANY NFL games this year... :P
  9. I really don't think so, look at the two games that the Bears didn't dominated. Metrodome (where they suck) and a loud AZ stadium. I do not want to have to play in seattle in the playoffs. Yep, the Bears domination has been at home, and at Lambeau (where they've been winning quite a bit lately). HFA looks big right now. Personally, I've seen the Eagles beat the Bears in 2002 on the road, and then lose at home in 2003 and 2004 in the NFC Championship game. Two of the three years the Patriots won the Super Bowl, they went on the road to Pittsburgh to win the AFC Championship game. The Ravens in 2000 won two games on the road en route to the Super Bowl championship, and the Steelers won three in a row on the road last year. I don't watch other teams frequently enough to evaluate how much value HFA has for them, but I think HFA means a lot for this particular team.
  10. Gee, really? Hadn't heard. Hey, at least I justified it with what I think is logical reasoning. Feel free to disagree. Rich Hill pitched pretty bad for a while before showing what he could do. Rex has had some brilliant play and some terrible play. If Grossman played every time like he did tonight, well then you obviously have a case, but before tonight I think he only had 3 INT's. It was a bad game.
  11. Jim Hendry has decided he likes fast slap-hitting midgets that catch the ball. Do they all get along, though? Yes. They will all ride to field in the same car. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y290/tovalondner/midgets.jpg Is that Silent Bob driving that car? I do believe it's from the Clerks cartoon.

  13. OK, Thomas. You think I should have blind faith in Lou? That hasn't worked real well for me in the past with Cubs managers.

  15. I'm glad Dusty is gone, but I'm going to remain skeptical of Lou. I'm in a place right now where I need to see to believe. He's gonna have to show me.
  16. During the postgame on CSN, Tommie Harris was "strutting" his fashion sense for Jerry Azumah, since Zoom gives a fashion award each week. I love Tommie, but he didn't do much at all last night, and I would've liked to see a bit more of a humble attitude immediately after that game.
  17. There's a reason why Arizona is 1-5 right now. :P
  18. The Cards did their share, but the Bears still caused 2 fumbles and had a punt return. None of those were "gives" by Arizona. It wasn't like someone had butterfingers...those were legit takeaways and great "plays". The takeaways were skilled. The returns for TDs were a bit lucky. Not having to rely at all on the offense to come back from 20 down was also a bit lucky. :) I'm not discounting luck last night. There HAD to be a good amount of luck for things to fall the way they did. But it's not like that was the first time Hester has done that. We got him specifically for his ability to do what he did in the 4th quarter last night. We could be as lucky as we want, but you still have to have the skill to take advantage of those lucky breaks, and the Bears did that.
  19. Too early? I am suprised that we don't have a Cubs/Reds Opening Day game thread up yet. Too many of us still hate the Cubs right now.

  21. Also if anyone can post quotes and what not, since I (and probably others) are unable to stream audio/video at work.. Thanks! :)
