  1. They have someone coaching the fans to cheer.....lame.
  2. Berman just said "Url-ahh-ker"...you would think the media would be able to say his name by now.
  3. Oh my God. They just had a group of Bears fans in fake mustaches doing the Super Bowl Shuffle during NFL Primetime. Kill me now.
  4. The roof will be open tonight for the first time barring unforseen circumstances. No rain in the forecast. It's 77 degrees in Phoenix right now. Low overnight of 66.
  5. I hate Bucker. It was so obvious last night that he didnt want to announce the game anymore after the Mets turned the game into a route. http://www.thephatphree.com/Features.asp?SectionID=2&StoryID=3061&LayoutType=1 =D>
  6. WSCR is bush league. I dont believe anything they say anymore. I want this dude and that hardcore WMVP hater to argue. Who was that guy again? CubbieRich :banned: ? I love how everyone was trashing WSCR yesterday for reporting this (too early?) and now they have no credibility and never get anything right. I don't think anybody hear even listens to the Score anymore. It's the only place in Chicago that actually talks about Chicago sports. Unless you consider Mike, Mike, Salisbury, Patrick, Gameday, etc., foremost experts on Chicago sports. Obviously someone is though because ESPN is now getting beaten in the ratings books. If anyone wants to continue this discussion, please start a seperate thread for it. Lets keep this a Piniella thread. Thanks.

  9. Piniella is $500,000/yr more important than Neifi Perez.
  10. I blame the Yankees for this. If they'd fired Torre and hired Lou like was reported, we'd be talking about Bruce Bochy right now.
  11. Its very strange to see the Bears being credited as a great organization like the Patriots or Yankees. It seems the Bears have been run by a bunch of morons who had no clue how to run a organization. The McCaskey's a barometer of success in professional sports? Its definitely a nice change. I don't think you can really credit the McCaskey's as much as Angelo though. The McCaskeys had made a ton of terrible moves before Angelo came in and slowly turned this franchise into what it is now.
  12. I don't understand why people have to distroy things to prove they care. They don't. I said it's overkill. But I always know that I played better under coaches who were more fired up than those that were more subdued. Might just be my style. As you know OMC, every player is different and is motivated differently. Dusty cared, he just showed it in another way. When Dusty cared, he threw a little "crazy" around... :)
  13. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2628162 Edit: Beaten.
  14. Goodbye Lance Briggs If the price isn't right, you're probably right.
  15. Mark Peel and I had a discussion in early Sept 2003 that it might be best for the Cubs' future if they missed the playoffs that year. Who dat?? :P
  16. This is a really excellent excerpt from Peter Kings article today on CNNsi.com: The Cubs could use the same advice.
  17. Stupid debate. Grossman is clearly the best QB in football and the only one worth starting a team with. I stand corrected.
  18. To be fair, Hasselbeck hasn't had that benefit this season either. A few mediocre showings and a few weeks injured isn't much support. Agreed! And his stats aren't near Donovan's after having been near his career wise. So is Hasselbeck good because he's good, or good because of Alexander?
  19. I think you have to add the Panthers to that list. If I had to pick the playoffs: NFC Division Winners: Giants Panthers Bears Hawks WC: Rams, Eagles I can't even do the AFC right now other then the Pats and Colts. I think the Broncs and Bolts are in but I don't have a clue which one wins the division. Two of Bengals/Steelers/Ravens/Jags don't make the playoffs, and if I had to guess it would be Ravens and Jags on the outside, but them getting inwould surprise me less then say the Vikes or Cowboys. I would probably switch the Giants and Eagles personally, but other than that I agree with your NFC.
  20. So the Tribune said Monday, Suntimes says Tuesday, and Daily Herald says Wednesday.
  21. The career stats are debateable. Hasselbeck has a higher completion percentage and QB rating. McNabb has more yardage and TD's. They're around the same place in INT's. This year though, McNabb has been a LOT better, and that's enough for me to say he's the best in the NFC right now. McNabb this season has a QB rating 20 points higher than Hasselbeck. McNabb has 13 TD's to Hass's 9, and 2 picks to Hass's 7. There was even a bigger disparity in those stats before yesterdays games. Lastly, McNabb hasn't had the benefit of a Shaun Alexander for the running game. EDIT: One more thing...if McNabb imploded last season, what did Hasselbeck do against the Bears? I'm not trying to be a homer here, I'm really not, I just don't see where he's better than McNabb.
  22. McNabb? Exactly. The Hasslebeck love is a little overboard after yesterdays game. I'm ok if people don't want to put Rex there yet. I think he's in the discussion, but I wouldn't get mad about his exclusion. But McNabb is clearly the best in the NFC.
  23. Yeah, shame on them for talking about the best football team the city has had in twenty years - and the best baseball team in nearly a century (not to mention one that makes them millions of dollars for airing their games.) Does it still hurt them to mention the Cubs, here and there? The Bears are playing out of their minds, and the Score broadcasts Sox games. Hard to blame them for the coverage there. When there's Cubs news, they cover it. But how many times can they go over this when there's really no news to talk about? When I do hear them talk about the Cubs, I always hope they're going back to the Bears soon, because frankly I feel a lot better hearing about the Bears.
  24. Same here. All the buildup to each game really makes my weeks go quickly. Having a game tomorrow night will help a smidge, but generally this week is going to suck.
