  1. I'm sure the goal here from a Briggs/Rosenhaus perspective, is to get public sympathy for Briggs being poorly treated by the Bears, but Briggs is getting terrible PR out of this. The more he talks, the more the public sides with the Bears. I think they've misplayed their hand terribly, and are really going to have to backpedal.
  2. I think he'll play for the Bears. He's done the Bears no favors as far as helping with trade value, so I think the Bears will call his bluff. I think he'll sign a longterm deal. The Bears have made offers in the past. They can afford him. Barring some white knight team coming in and knocking his socks off, and giving something to the Bears, I think Briggs will be signed longterm by the deadline. He sounds pretty desperate with all his ranting and ravings, but the fact is he hasn't much a ton of money as a pro athlete yet, and I'm guessing he's itching to sign something with high guarantees. Yeah, I could see this happening too. Either way, I don't think he's "played his last snap for the Bears".

  4. I think you're right, because on Comcast this morning they played part of an interview from the Score last night, and apparently he said something to the effect of "Best case scenario? That the Bears give me a long term deal at market value." That doesn't sound like a guy that's played his last snap with the Bears.
  5. I won't whine about it, but I'm disappointed.
  6. This was the more telling quote for me: Briggs is all about the glory and the spotlight.
  7. The combination of the two?
  8. The baby likes to get up just as early on the weekends as he does during the week, and one of the only things on in the mornings is the VH1 Video Countdown. This morning a new video premiered on the countdown...a song called Beautiful Liar by Beyonce and Shakira. It got me wondering which one everyone likes more. I love me some Shakira, but I honestly could care less for Beyonce, but I suspect I'm in the minority.
  9. How is he unhappy in Denver already????
  10. John McDonough on last year's attendance: They may have sold out, but there wasn't that many bodies in the seats.
  11. The Chiefs have apparently given Trent Green the ok to seek a trade, though they haven't ruled out the possibility of his playing for the Chiefs in 2007...
  12. Prosecutors want Tank in jail. But they say he'd only be doing 30-90 days.
  13. Why do you think Murton? He seems like a hard worker... Hard worker, sure....but he still has to earn it in Piniella's eyes. Maybe, but I don't think he expected any different. They brought in Floyd to compete for that job. I don't think Murton has exactly been resting on his laurels or anything.
  14. I said no, only because I've adopted a pessimistic attitude about the Cubs since sometime last year. I'm slowly recovering, but this is just too much at once... :P
  15. And here's a complete overreaction to the deal by Steve Rosenbloom, and David Haugh. Wow-those are overreactions. It sounds like what the Chargers papers said last year when Brees was let go, or when the Colts haven't spent anything in free agency the last few years and have been ripped for it each time. Obviously it worked out for both those squads-this is probably the best move for the Bears as well-with the way both of them were unhappy, you really had to trade one of them. For Rosenbloom, overreaction is pretty standard fare. Haugh is usually pretty grounded though, so I'm a little disappointed in his column.
  16. Well here's a quote from Benson on the TJ deal: And here's a complete overreaction to the deal by Steve Rosenbloom, and David Haugh.
  17. Joey Porter to Miami for 5 years/$32 million, with $20 million guaranteed. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2789401
  18. If we trade up and get Landry I'll pee myself. He is a sure-fire stud, and based on some of the film I have seen of him he is one mean s.o.b. that enjoys hitting people. I love him. Landry is the only guy I would want to trade up for. Otherwise, keep the picks you have.

  20. Would we have to put our noses in the corner? ...because I find that totally degrading. Nope. We just disown you.
  21. I think there is more value with the 31st and 37th pick, then trading both picks to get to the Top 15 and not getting the player you coveted. Landry is going to be a great player, but the fact is, the Bears need younger help on the OL (possibility of Blaylock/Sears), perhaps they need help at TE (come on Reid and Gilmore were the backups) or even help at LBer (seeing as Briggs is gone by the end of the 2007 season anyways). I think the Bears keep the 31 and 37th picks. Besides when was the last time the Bears traded up to grab a player they coveted? So I doubt, the Bears will trade up. Typically the Bears don't trade up at all, so my inclination is that you're right, they'll build with these picks. Trading up with TJ was just because he wanted out so badly. That said, this just feels set up for another trade to me...
  22. It's really tough to gauge the value of what the Bears got here. If the Bears package the first round pick and this pick, could they move up enough to get Landry?
  23. Wow was that Page 2 article a fluff piece.
  24. Too many people don't watch hockey. I know the name Sidney Crosby, but I know a lot of other hockey names too, and frankly other than "he's supposed to be good", I don't know jack about him, or most hockey players. I voted for LT, as I really think pitching is more important in fantasy. While RB's that score TD's are HUGE in fantasy.
  25. It's because we so desperately WANT to be satisfied with this team, when the truth is that we never are, and likely never will be. Look at the Bears...as much fun as we had this year, there's still a lot of dissatisfaction with the team...the defense didn't play well against the Colts, or Grossman stinks, or the coaching doesn't adapt...it's just the nature of Chicago sports fans, if not all sports fans. And it's especially the nature of the internet sports fan.
