  1. Oh, jesus. I should just leave this thread before I end up spending half my day here. Come on...you wanna argue CERA...you know you do...give in to the dark side... Besides, you know you're gonna be here all day anyway....
  2. I don't know what that song is but they play it after every Rangers homer. Yep...it was the Natural.
  3. I'll find it difficult to be too upset if Sammy hits #600 against us.
  4. Metal bats, I believe. This is my understanding as well.
  5. Have these talking heads SEEN some of the deals which were used to acquire stars of Kobe's level? The most recent one was the Shaq deal and we all saw how that turned out! Kobe's got the Lakers over a barrel and the Bulls don't even need to trade for him. If the Lakers want a deal like Deng, Gordon, Tyrus Thomas, PJ Brown S&T, and the #9 for Kobe, the Bulls could tell them to buzz off without losing anything in the process. Actually the talking heads are using the Shaq deal as the reason why the Lakers won't do the same thing with Kobe. They think the Lakers would have to get star power in the trade because they failed to do that in the Shaq deal.
  6. A lot of the talking heads now are saying they don't think Kobe to the Bulls will happen because there isn't enough star power in the players that the Bulls would have to offer.
  7. It's either/or. The same way that Super Bowl XLI is Super Bowl 41.
  8. Wow...really hard one...I'm gonna have to hold off on this one for a while.
  9. The point to trading Derosa wouldn't be money, it would be what you could get back. I'm not advocating trading him for cash or any such nonsense. I'd want something good back for him, because as has been pointed out, he's no breaking the bank, and so we aren't in dire need of ditching him. I had plenty of appreciation for Derosa. I can't really complain about what they guy has given us. But that said, baseball is a business, and if his value is high right now, and we can cash in on that, do it. He's not a guy that is going to cripple this team's chances of winning, and he might be able to bring something nice in return. If I'm overestimating his value, then you're right...no reason to deal him.
  10. Interesting idea. If something like that were done, I'd want to have any thread placed in the "Hall of Fame" to be locked. For example, I think the 2003 game 6 thread would be a candidate, but I sure wouldn't want people posting in that again. I think it should be more of a "look but don't touch" kind of thing.
  11. It's also what makes him a valuable trading chip though.
  12. As much as they are trying to get him in the lineup, there isn't really a spot for him if everyone is healthy. Fontenot has really been solid at 2b and we surely have enough outfielders to do the job.
  13. He did give a big wink when he said it. Who doesn't want McNabb on the Bears? But he said it like 6-8 times...did he wink each time??
  14. Tommie Harris wants Mcnabb on the Bears... http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/cs-070617bears,1,1650124.htmlstory?coll=cs-home-headlines But he was only joking....surrrrrrre.
  15. Mcgwire hitting 70 home runs will NEVER be broken...I mean, he passed the previous record that stood for 37 years. Wait, what happened?
  16. Indeed, I believe that "Warpticons" are the third Transformers faction.
  17. I went with RynoRules simply because I like the incongruity of having the name Ryno and yet somehow still having Phil Jackson for an avatar. It boggles the mind.
  18. I think the Colt factor is in play here. I voted for ya anyway CCP.
  19. CM, the price for my vote is golf tips. (actually I already voted for you, so I can't hold you to that.)
  20. PriorPower watches Jericho. +1
  21. Sammy is on a one year deal, right? I could see the Cubs possibly grabbing him after the team is sold, if Hendry is fired. The new ownership might see that as a great PR move.
  22. My guess is that this host heard a rumor about Griffey going to Chicago, and he mistaken assumed the Cubs, and made up the rest himself. I've heard plenty about him going to the Sox, and zilch about the Cubs. I'm certainly willing to be proven wrong, but I really think we'll see Hendry go more for a Tejada than a Griffey.
  23. +1 I don't understand this line of thinking. As fans we are allowed to have divided attention, I don't see the problem in "worrying" about how the Brewers will fare for the rest of the season even if we are struggling. Because I think it's better to set a series of smaller goals leading up to the ultimate goal, rather than setting your sights on the ultimate goal to begin with. Smaller goals are more achievable and allow you to have some small victories as you move along. Setting your sights too high make setbacks seem all the more discouraging. I guess to me it's like a number 5 seed in the NCAA tournament worrying that they're in the bracket with the best number 1 seed. Worry about the first few steps before you start worrying about what's down the line. As fans, we can of course worry about whatever we want. It's just my opinion that it's energy misspent.

    Argh.

What a loss. I was leading all week and then lose by 2 points on the last day. That hurts. Curse you Ocho Loco. Curse you.
