  1. I hope Hendry brings him back for another incentive-laden deal and he stays healthy all year in the back of the pen. Trade Dempster and I'd enjoy seeing Howry-Marmol-Wood in the back end of the pen. that is the best scenario. i guess its time to start talking about next year.
  2. don't look now, but he cubs are (somewhat) back in the game. DW is one helluva pinch hitter.
  3. is 8 straight walks too much to ask?
  4. standing o for doug [expletive] davis. i hate loving the cubs.
  5. i'm confused, is there another scenario?
  6. this goes for every year...if the cubs don't win, i could give a rats ass who wins. it makes me physically sick to think of the joy others are getting by winning.
  7. have you guys heard of this so-called "frank-tv" show coming on. i believe i saw the first commercial in my life advertising that show a few minutes ago. it sounds really good and i hope they advertise for it non-stop.
  8. donovan is behind the ari. dugout, i guess you should hope for a foul ball off the right arm. the cubs lefties should be tardy enough to provide ample opportunities.
  9. wow, now an augie jinx provided by dick stockton. such a horrible baseball announcer. stick to basketball pal. eyre got hurt, that pretty much burns the pen for the whole series. oh yeah, i guess thats only one more game. why oh why did I even get excited about this series????
  10. what's that supposed to mean??? :x
  11. EAMUS CATULI!!! :-s i'm confused, although thats not uncommon. sign across from Wrigley 00 (years since div title) 61 (years since pennant) 98 (years since WS) thats right, i remember it now. i saw something about it when HBO ran a cubs special not too long ago. i haven't been to wrigley in 18 years and thats not something i would have noticed when i was 7. pretty cool though!
  12. EAMUS CATULI!!! :-s i'm confused, although thats not uncommon.
  13. solid work! Although for one of you transition screens, it says A10086 or something along those lines. I enjoyed it!
  14. He can be unhappy with his most recent performance because it was bad but unconcerned because Marquis won't be coming out of the pen in the playoffs. I suppose, but it's not like he has been pitching well in his starts lately either. I would think some of the disappointment he showed in the dugout during marquis' bullpen outing was directly effected by his poor pitching overall lately. ESPN (consider the source) bottom line has game 3 starter as either Hill or Marquis. Surely Lou is not dumb enough to start Marquis for game 3 (or at all for that matter).
  15. how can lou be unhappy with marquis' performance(s), yet unconcerned? Don't they go hand-in-hand? Everything else seems about right though. Kinda surprised that Fuld, who was an underdog to even be called up in the first place, seems to be the first go to guy in an OF emergency. Guess there are no other options at this point.
  16. Chris Young, Eric Byrnes, Stephen Drew, Conor Jackson, Augie Ojeda, Justin Upton, Chad Tracy, Chris Snyder... Yeah, I have no idea how they produce offense. Of course, now that I say that, it'll probably be Chris Young that kills the Cubs. He's already tried. http://thesportshernia.typepad.com/blog/images/2007/06/18/chris_young_connects_3.jpg ohhh...you meant the other one!
  17. I think Pie gets the nod, if for nothing else than a late inning defensive replacement/pinch runner for the games floyd starts. Hart has been lights out and Lou seems to really like him so I'll bet he makes it. I'd probably like to see cedeno over fontenot, given then fact he can play both second or short. I'd really love to see Soto start game one, runs are going to be tough to come by off Webb and we could use all the power we can get. GO CUBS!
  18. Marshall just pitched 2 innings 2 days ago sorry, didn't see the game and for some reason it's not on his game log at baseball reference edit: found it, I have no idea why the cubs have lost all faith in him then.
  19. Seeing that marshall has not pitched in a couple of weeks and has only pitched a total of 4 innings since Aug. 31, I personally think that here is something not quite right going on with him. I just can't think of any other reason for not pitching him the past couple of days to get a better idea of where he will stand on the playoff roster. The cubs have a neat way of keeping pitcher injuries quiet (see Guzman).
  20. My mother's family moved all around the chicago/milwaukee area growing up. My favorite uncle is a die hard cubs fan and convinced me to do the same shortly after birth. That's why I'm a cubs fan. I'm a die-hard cubs fan because like many of you said, WGN allowed me to watch them religiously every day and by age 10 I was and still am obsessed.
  21. I don't know if this has aired yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCDJ2yBtp8M I like it personally, but I guess it depends on your opinion of dane cook. CUBS!
  22. WE NEED BASERUNNERS AND RAMIREZ AND DEROSA SWING AT 2 STRAIGHT FIRST PITCHES! REAL INTELLIGENT! IDIOTS!
