Type faster. :wink: between reading these, listening to the game, and readings for class, I've got a full plate :cool: It's amazing how often I check this thread knowing good and well that there is a .01% chance it's going to give me any new info. Borderline OCD maybe.

Sullivan was just referring to Marquis' value because of his win totals the past few years. "Yet he still gets left off the playoff roster for some reason" Yeah, I wonder what that reason would be Paul? I sure hope there are a few GMs that think like him at least.

Rosenthaul was on XM Homeplate this morning and said he thought there would be quite a few trades by the end of ST. He said he expects Marquis to be traded, possibly in a deal for Roberts. Probably just speculation on his part, but he's been pretty good this offseason. -

this is completely unrelated (which is why I thought it should probably be in this thread), but Peter Gammons just said on TV that the best thing he has seen this spring training has been Kerry Wood. He said that he knows its early and everything but he looks like Kerry Wood 2004. He also said that if he could close for the cubs, the bullpen would be set. Just thought that was interesting since I haven't heard anything like that, but I didn't think it deserved it's own thread. 7th inning Howry 8th inning Marmol 9th inning Wood :)

Gallagher gets out of the second with no further harm. I haven't been able to listen the past half hour, have pat and ron commented on gallagher's stuff this year? I heard them say that he lost some weight, but I didn't know if his stuff was any better of if he was throwing faster.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/spring2008/news/story?id=3264453 He says it's an outpatient surgery so I wouldn't expect it to keep him out longer than maybe a month, but any kind of heart surgery is pretty scary in my opinion. I wonder if this has any effect on the Roberts talk. It wouldn't surprise me for Hendry to hear this news, up his offer, and get raped in the process.

I bought last years handbook and it was money well spent in my opinion. It does individual projections as well as team projections. It also has a lot of minor league profiles and rankings. I'll definitely buy this years when it's released.

This thread reminds me of when me and my friends get drunk and start arguing about something in particular but after a few minutes we end up arguing about something else completely and forgot what we were talking about in the first place.

Is there any realistic chance Demp/Marquis + prospect would net us crisp? If I'm not mistaken, Boston doesn't want him anymore and would readily move him in a trade. Marquis/ Dempster and mid level prospect might do it. They may still demand more, but seeing as how they have a hole in their rotation, they could be desparate. They don't really have "a hole in their rotation", at least not one that Dempster or Marquis would meaningfully fill. Beckett - Daisuke - Buchholz - Lester - Wakefield Yeah that's not a rotation with a "hole" necessarily, but both Buchholz and Lester are only 24 and neither have thrown a particularly high number of innings. Daisuke really wore down at the end of last year and Wakefield is no spring chicken either (even though he's a knuckler). I would see someone like Dempster appealing to them as an bullpen arm/emergency starter/insurance plan. At least that is what I hope Hendry and Lou have accomplished with this "Dempster to the rotation" garbage they have been spewing.

Sign me up for Dempster or Marquis plus a prospect for Crisp! (assuming of course that prospect isn't Pie, Gallagher, Vitters etc.) If they could swing that, then that would open the door to a Pie deal focusing on acquiring a SS or "good" starter. Pie and B level prospect to Oakland for Blanton would work for me.

Note: Important points bolded. Is there any beat writers or "insiders" that really have inside information, or am I fully qualified sitting right here at my computer knowing no more than anyone else? Waiting for baseball and hearing the same garbage rumors recycled makes me want to :banghead:
