    Some would argue it matters more who you are as a person as opposed to how good you were at baseball. And I don't anybody has told people to not talk about what he did as a player. Fine. I just feel like the people here who wish to celebrate his on-field accomplishments are being told they shouldn't because he wasn't a good person. And the people that want to talk about the fact that he wasnt the greatest person in the world are being told they cant just because he was a hell of a player.

    I have. I'm not debating the fact that some are better than others, or some throw harder, etc. I just don't like the David vs. Golliath comparision (or at any time, rather) because people always misuse it. I wasnt talking to you.

    Reminds me of when Peter Gammons picked Nomar to win the MVP last year, when there were 3 or 4 guys on the Cubs who had a better chance. Gammons only said that because Nomar was so hot during spring training.

    So, if Carlos Zambrano goes 18-8 next year with a 1.50 ERA on a Cub team that finishes in 4th place (a team that finished dead last in offensive production, hypothetically of course) and Chris Carpenter goes 20-6 with a 4.00 ERA on a team that finished in first, you would give the Cy Young to Chris Carpenter? Yes Carpenter gets the edge. Thats the way the Award works. then it's a broken and stupid award and there's no reason to pay any attention to it, unless youre a player or an agent.

    ditch him if you can get value. he has the some of the worst mechanics i have ever seen in a mahor league pitcher. If he makes it through the year without his arm falling off, ill consider it a small miracle.

    I'm so sick of the "distracts the pitcher" line of thought. It's so easy to say, but no one ever backs it up with any proof. Until then, I dont see any reason to believe it.
