  1. I've heard some good things about the six freshman coming in. It'll be interesting to see if they can start rebuilding the program since theyll all be together for so long. However, I won't be surprised if Anderson isn't around to see them graduate. He needs to make the postseason (even NIT) sometime within the next two years or he's probably gone. I am not sure how good the South will be either. Texas will still be solid, but not near as good as last season. Texas, OU, and Baylor will all be pretty good, IMO. Not title contenders, but ranked teams, unless they've lost players and I forgot. I can't remember who aTm lost and who they have coming in. Nebraska has a shot at being ok in the North. OU has been getting a lot of top-10 love this preseason. Willie Warren, Blake Griffin and Tony Crocker is a pretty good threesome, along with that UCLA bigman transfer whose name I can never remember (ryan wright?). The timing is right for us to make a deep run in the big 12. Yeah, I'd be pretty surprised if you guys didn't win it this year. The only reason you might not is you guys have the significantly tougher South schedule. If Self gets the baby Jayhawks in order and can rack up wins vs the North, we have an outside chance. I'm excited either way because for the first time since the Hollis Price years, OU fans are discussing basketball and football. It's been lonely the last few years with no one giving a damn about the program.
  2. If the Bulls had a kobe or a boston three party (yeah I said it), they could get away with Hinrich at PG for a few more years no kidding. the NBA isn't a point guard's league or a center's league, it's a great player's league. most of the time, teams that win the championship have at least one great, dynamic player. the pistons were the exception to that rule, but you had KG and pierce this year, duncan with the spurs, shaq and wade in miami, shaq and kobe in l.a., jordan with the bulls. going back to the mid-90s, you've got four teams that could be considered to have a very good point guard - three spurs champions (parker) and one pistons championship (billups). the rest have basically been adequate players, role guys. so let's get off these dumb generalizations like "it's a point guard league" or (NCAA tournament edition) "great guards win in the Big Dance." great players and great teams win, not teams with good players at a certain position. are we arguing or agreeing? i think we're agreeing.
  3. I really wanted to talk about our actual top 10 prospects, but then I got past "1. Josh Vitters" and I started jabbing pens into my face, so instead lets talk about something intentionally depressing I'm thinking of guys like David Kelton (the FUTURE at third. Finally someone to replace Santo), Bobby Hill (the FUTURE at second base. Our leadoff hitter for the next decade), Juan Cruz (UNTOUCHABLE, the next Pedro) and Nic Jackson (so much upside he gives me vertigo), but I'm sure there are more. If we had to make a top-10 list of our most overrated prospects of the last eight years, how would you set it up?

  5. I want the Rays to sign him

  7. im sure dlee and perry have just been sittin around listenin to the fugees and eatin funyuns when they should be watching tape and getting in the cage
  8. wow, dye is slow as hell, but he had a nice game in the field
  9. fingers crossed and now contreras is getting wild.
  10. that was a real pretty swing by Soto, getting him back on track would help. And the little guy adds another, gotta keep hitting the ball hard.
  11. I get what people are saying about Hill but is anyone actually expecting him to pitch for us this year? He's been ruined, IMO. No, I'm not expecting it at all, just point out that we're in a tough spot at the moment that only time, or some fortunate performances from unexpected places will get us out of
  12. We were bound for a swoon, anyway. Our best starter is on the DL, our second best starter is in extended spring training, our leftfielder is on the dl... these things happen. Just wait till we get healthy again and hopefully get a No. 2 starter in a trade.
  13. Did Hawk get the score wrong? I thought he said that's nine, meaning the ninth grand slam in the history of the series. Ahh, good catch, i was busy lighting myself on fire so i must have missed that.
  14. on a positive note, hawk just got the score wrong and called nick swisher "steve swisher"
  15. The problem with that is, if ESPN goes into something with a critical eye, they get a couple of blowhards to just rip something without actualy giving it any real thought. i'd rather have a couple of guys like van gundy, who i actually like a lot, to just blow smoke up my ass and let me make up my own mind about these picks
  16. LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL as if on cue
  17. Are you talking about Mayo? That's pretty ridiculous. I'm happier with the Westbrook pick then I would have been with Lopez . Well if the Clippers don't pick Lopez and announce the trade then you're good. I'm fully expecting that to happen.

  19. Agreed. Hendry should never have signed him to the contract he did, and he's definitely the first guy bumped from the rotation. I just don't get the Estes-level hate for someone who isn't close to Estes-level bad. There's gonna be estes-level hate for someone, might as well be the worst starter in the rotation
  20. WHIP is such a bad stat. It's the batting-average of pitchers. His FIP going into today was 4.50, almost dead even with his ERA. No BABIP luck or anything like that in there. Is it really? I'm sway-able on this. 1.5 just seems exceedingly high to have such an average ERA. He's 3/4 of a runs over the NL league average ERA. I was talking about heading into today. His WHIP was 1.47 and his ERA was like 4.50. It's a good point about his groundball rate, I remember, maybe wrongly, that his groundball rate was headed in the wrong direction the last few years so I was assuming it was still trending down that way.
