  1.   This HAS to be an award for longevity, NOT talent!
  2. How about Tug McGraw and Sixto Lezcano
  3. Razor Shines is a cool name and seeing Rusty Kuntz reminds of I guy I hated to see play the Cubs, but I thought had a cool name and that's Rusty Staub. He always wore two black batting gloves. (very cool) And we can't leave out Spike Owen. Edit: Sorry CubinNY, you already had Razor, guess I should have read more closely.
  4. I know this is off the Schmidt topic, but in the last few days I have read where people are talking about a, b, and c free agents and I can not EVER remember this being mentioned in the past. Is this something new in the labor deal? Or have I had my head planted deep into the sand on this topic? Also, if you could point me in the direction of where I could read about these categorized free agents and the signing rules that would be great.
  5.
  6. In my best Forrest Gump voice. "You got magic fingers Lt. Tim." Quick write an article on how the Cubs missed out on opportunity to sign Soriano and Zito. (insert any free agent you might want more) Hell it worked with Ramirez. :P
  7. keepvid.com http://lifehacker.com/software/video-demonstration/weekend-project-save-and-convert-a-youtube-video-205974.php Great, thanks so much!
  8. Anyone know, is it possible to save the videos from YouTube to your hard drive? I had this same clip, including the part when Chip talks about this being his last game and Stoney getting married, saved on my Tivo until the hard drive bit it. I loved watching it on a cold day during the winter when I'm jonesing for some baseball.
  9. If surgery on Prior is the last option, I would really like to know what, exactly is done to correct "genetic looseness"? And if something is done, Lord only knows what, it makes since to me that he may never recover from this surgery. Correcting genetic looseness, just doesn't seem possible. I guess if doctors can change a man into a woman anything is possible. The other question I have is what are "arthritic changes"? And one other thing, if strengthening is the first form of correction, how long does strengthening take. It seems to me, if he started mid-October to mid-February. That's four months shouldn't that be enough time? Hell maybe he should hook up with Victor and get some of "the cream" and "the clear". Damn, I should have stayed at that Holiday Inn Express last night.
  10. In my opinion we count on nothing from Prior and Wood. If either one or both of them feel they can pitch, they can start out in the bullpen until they prove themselves. It's already known this will be the approach with Wood. Prior can NOT be counted on until he is proven. I don't even want him penciled as a #6 as someone suggested previously. I assume by 6th starter they are referring to an emergency starter. I think we have three guys currently that we can depend on to be starters. Zambrano of course, Hill, and Marshall. I really think Marshall can be a good #5, he pitched well early last year and is only one year removed from AA, so he was still learning and getting stronger. That means we need to add two starters, one of them being a horse (Schmidt/Zito) and another FA. But please, no one coming off an injury. Maybe we can catch lightning in a bottle like the Tigers did with a guy like Rogers. Hell, maybe bring back Maddux. He pitched well at times this year and with some more run support, his record wouldn't have looked as bad. We know the guy stays healthy. But Hendry, do not count on ANYTHING from Wood or Prior.
  11. There was a thread about this earlier this year that was about 40 pages long. My conclusion: Unfortunately many players pose after homeruns. Cubs fans hate Albert because he is historically good so they use this against him even though it is hypocritical to complain about him and not Ramirez or Jones posing and bat flipping. Or Zambrano's gesticulations. Most reasonable people don't care as long as it doesn't get out of hand. I know I don't. After all, if anyone should think he is better than the pitcher he just took yard, it should be the best hitter in baseball. You are correct. So we'll give David Ortiz that right.
  12. Something that has gone unmentioned, at least to my knowledge, is how long Pujols posses at the plate after hitting a home run. Why do the pitchers allow him to get by with this? The other thing he does is his little "bat flip" after he gets walked. As if he is saying "I'm too good for you, you don't have the nuts to pitch to me". Pure arrogance, in my opinion.
  13. As I watch the Tigers add another run to their lead over the Yankees today, I thought, what about Joe Torre to replace Baker. If the Yankees lose this series to the Tigers, I really wouldn't be surprised to see Torre get fired. Then I thought about why he would get fired and I have to ask the question. Has anyone ever did less with more? They haven't won the series since 2000, although they have made the playoffs every year of his tenure. But with a payroll consistently almost doubling every team in the league should he have done more? I guess I'm starting to think like a Yankee fan now. So what does everyone think, first does Torre get fired with a loss to the Tigers? And, second would you want him as a replacement for Baker?
  14. I see this guy replacing Girardi in Florida, he seems to "like the fish". Dohhhh, bad joke.
  15. Actually, according to "Dusty-Math" 289.499 would be rounded to .300 Dusty - Congrats kid on a great season, hell you hit .300 Pagan - Uhhh, no coach I hit .261 Dusty - Ah hell kid, you got to round it, carry the 1, drop the decimal, and uhh, let's see here, don't forget the double switch. Ahh, here we go, that's .300 right on the nose. Say, did I tell you about my latest fish'n trip?
  16. metric time. lol  That's funny right there. I don't care who you are.
  17. I could stand either of those teams from the NL. My only trepidation with the Marlins making the playoffs would be, us not getting Girardi to manage next season. But them making the playoffs this year, what a great story that would be. In the AL, I agree, go Twins.
  18. What a set of pipes. I could listen to this guy everyday. Man, everything about the Cubs is falling apart. :( BTW thanks for getting picked off Bynum.
  19. Seeing the name Wilton Chavez, made me think of Wilton Guerrero. (I think he Vlad's little brother) Anyway, didn't we pick him up at some point last season, maybe before the season started. Not that I expected him the be playing for the Cubs, but anyone know what happened?
  20. Amen! Cowherd is the most arrogant, pompous jerk in sports radio today. And who is he? He is nobody. His looks remind me of the character Jim Carrey played in "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", you know, the Grinch. Not that this matters, just my opinion. But seriously, I bought satellite radio just so I could listen to sports radio without having to listen to his show (not many options in my area). The guy has never been wrong, just ask him. Except the time he "found" the sample questions to the Wonderlic Test on line and turned out he stole the whole bit from another web site. ESPN really needs to dump this guy and get someone that has a clue.
  21. Considering the situation, why bother bringing him back this season? Let him rest it all off season and be 100% next spring. This is the Cubs we are talking about, he could return too early and end up having career ending surgery.
  22. We should tear down Wrigley and make them earn a new stadium. I agree, we all know Wrigley is where the real "curse" lies. :P Although that still doesn't explain the damn black cat at Shea in 69'. :x
  23. Wow, that Corey Patterson guy looks pretty good. Wonder what every happened to him. The Cubs probably gave him away for nothing? Also, I couldn't help but notice all those games seemed to be at Wrigley. Can't the Cubs ever win one on the road? Seriously though, great video. I love when you guys that have a helluva lot more computer skill than I do, put together these videos. That is the kinda stuff I need in December/January when I really got that baseball jones...and I'm still somewhat optimistic about the Cubs season. :P
