  1. When I was about the same age, I remember Harry saying something along the lines of "well folks with this loss the Cubs have been officially eliminated from playoff contention"... I'm not sure of the date, but it was still pretty hot weather, I'm guessing sometime in August. But I can remember how disappointed I was just in hearing they officially weren't going to the playoffs. Did I ever have a lot to learn about my favorite team. ':wall:'
  2. Nobody said Derrek was hurt. The question was Derrek looks like crap at the plate, could he be hurt. Now my take. I think Derrek is afraid of getting hit again, so he isn't covering the outside of the plate. Derrek got hit on the hand/wrist area early in the season if I recall correctly. Then during one of the series with St. Louis, thier pitcher went up and in on him and they spent the rest of the series pitching on the outside of the plate. Now it seems almost ever team we face gets one up and in on Derrek and then a consistent barrage of pitches on the outer edge of the plate. I think thats why he was so pissed when Chris Young put one near his head. The non swings and weak swings we are seeing from Lee aren't like anything we have seen from him since he has been here. I think teams have discovered he wants no part of diving out over the plate to drive the outside pitch and as long as they can get him out staying outside, they will.
  3. I am really stoked about having a new Bears forum. :stickman: I've been looking for one that is as good of a football forum as NSBB is a baseball forum. And to put it bluntly, they all suck. Since I have no clue as to what goes into creating a new forum, do you any idea of a "birth date" for the new football forum? Thanks, Wilmo
  4. When does defensive indifference come into play?
  5. My day is Tuesday August 7, 2007. Please go to Cubs.com on that day to vote for me. I'm going to be in Houston watching the Cubs that day, so I may not be online to remind everyone. Anyone who thinks about it....please bump this. Thanks for all your votes. That's sweet! You get my vote. btw What did you have to do to become a finalist? Luck of the draw?
  6. "Mouth off" to Big Z
  7. When did he say that? July 2006  J/K
  8. I don't know if I'd go as far as saying most, but a lot did.LOL...funny how that changed so quickly. It's not hard to change when the guy in question goes from an arrogant, teammate-fighting, not good pitcher back the fun, exciting Ace pitcher that he should always be. Am I the only one that's just a little pissed that Big Boy stunk it up for most of the first two months of the season. Then he makes a statement that as of his next start, he's going to start the season over and pitch like he is capable, and actually does. Now don't get it twisted, I love that Z has turned his season around, but c'mon the season starts the first of April, not the first of June. If he is able to flip a switch, and turn his stuff on as it appears, what in the hell was he doing until June 6th?
  9. Kinda funny you made this poll. My mom and I were talking the other day about how Lohan is one of those people, that you know it's just a matter of time till she is found dead. Drug overdose no doubt. I really had no idea how old she was until I saw on a tabloid not long ago that she celebrated her 21st birthday. She's been in the news so long, I though she was like 30 or something. Okay, that might be a stretch, but I knew she had to be older than 21. Girls got some miles on that body.
  10. Classic!
  11. I kinda like the "splash down" logo. But the uniform's??? My gosh why didn't they just go with a retro Giants uniform in home and away versions. U-G-L-Y
  12. After reading through your "Reasons to vote for Snoodmonger", I concur. The Snood gets the vote.
  13. You had me at the Penn State avatar.
  14. Seems the good people here at NSBB have been able to clear up this issue real nice for ya. Hope all this info settles the discussion in the office. :)
  15. Put me in the pro Marshall camp. I would love to acquire Griffey but not at the expense of Marshall. Hell I wouldn't do a Marshall for Griffey deal straight up. And the rumor says Marshall to start...No thanks. Now if we want to start with Guzman and add Jones as someone else mentioned...Sign me up.
  16. I know this is apples and oranges, but if Ronny can put up these type numbers at Iowa, Murton should hit over .400.
  17. I really like what Felix has done the last couple of days. But c'mon, when is that glass gonna spill? Just kidding, I think/HOPE Felix is here to stay.
  18. It's not very often us "common folk" get the goods early. Thanks for the info.
  19. I agree. And if he did decide to charge the mound...Now that would be a fun one to watch.
  20. I'll bite...How??? And don't forget the footwedge.
  21. Shhhhhhh, can you hear that? It's Lou's gasket. This is gonna be one funny press conference. The entire bullpen will/should be released.
  22. No-no will be gone before this inning is over...
  23. I'm not into the numbers like a lot of people (not saying this is a bad thing). I'm more about what I see a guy do on the field. The more I see Theriot hit the ball over the first baseman's head and into right field the more I'm willing to forgive his defensive mistakes at short. You have to remember this is his first full year in the bigs. He will, most likely, improve at the plate and in the field with more playing time. I know Izturis is good in the field, but his stick is bad, and that isn't going to change. Theriot may never have the glove that Izzy has, I think his bat will more than make up for it. I have always loved to watch Ryan Freel play, now we have our own Ryan Freel. (only better, Riot plays for the right team) Keep TheRiot in the line-up Lou, and at short. Now c'mon Rich and show the rest of the country what Cubs fans already know. You are a beast and that hook is just NASTY!
