  1. Is the crowd mercilessly booing Soriano? If they're not, they suck.
  2. I bet Carlos Torres' is feeling real good right about now. How is his ego feeling good from a text message?
  3. I'm really hoping for some sort of non-crippling career ending injury for Soriano. The insurance money would really work out well in the offseason.
  4. SI is going to be wrong. There's too much weird stuff going on this offseason for the Hawks to even repeat last year. This is very much like the Bulls a few years ago. They won't completely go in the tank because they have some superstars like Toews, but I'm not expecting the Finals this season.
  5. Just goes to show how crappy the NL is or at least how much easier it is to pitch in the NL. Hell, I'm expecting Jose Contreras to throw a 1-hitter soon. If Zambrano went to the AL, he'd be brutal.
  6. I like Milt and all, but it's hard to find good big league chew. Are we talking grape? throw in Miles and we could be talking Watermelon. Why would we trade away the player who best sums up our season? Miles isn't going anywhere.
  7. I like Milt and all, but it's hard to find good big league chew. Are we talking grape? Only 1 pack of grape. The other is bubble gum.
  8. Bradley boosting his trade value from "2 packs of Big League Chew" to a $50 gift card to Home Depot. Nice job Milt!
  9. Probably not, since Soriano would kill him. Zambrano might. please they wouldnt mess with Lilly. Hed make a lamp out of Sorianos skull And wear his ribcage as a vest.
  10. The only good thing about the 2nd half is that it appears the shoulder thing isn't going to linger for Aramis. Now, he could easily blow it out again, but when he's in there, it doesn't appear to be hurting him too bad.
  11. Ha, 2 HBPs. Both of these teams suck.
  12. .285 .400 obp 20-25 HR 85 RBI
  13. Moving to #15 could be huge if Ricketts wants to open the checkbook. Go Nats.
  14. What kind of racist crap is that? Exactly my point. They only go after either the black guys or hispanic players. That crap is getting old. I guess you missed the Todd Hundley and Aaron Miles boos.
  15. Nope. I wouldn't say there's anything distinctive in that sample size based off of a quick glance. Either way, a lot of dumb managing going on out there. By the way, he hasn't had a HR since 7/29. I hope he's just hiding a real bad injury because if not, he is just terrible.
  16. In his contract year, probably a coincidence. He was on a terrible Nationals team so pitching to him wasn't that damaging. He had 46 HR and only 96 RBI. That makes no sense. If he's on a terrible team, you wouldn't want to ever pitch to him. You do if you're up 7-0 every game. I would imagine a lot of those HRs came in garbage time.
  17. I completely disagree here. I believe we need to rely on the minor league system for depth, rather than spending a lot of money on reserve players. As we have seen this year, our cheap minor leaguers have been as good or better than any of our veteran reserves. Even with injuries, depth hasn't been the problem this year. The problem is the bullpen and lack of competent starters at C, 2B, and LF. You guys do realize we were TIED FOR FIRST PLACE on August 6th. They weathered the ARAM storm fairly well. It's been the complete implosion the last 2 weeks due to a bad bullpen, terrible RISP hitting, and below average starting pitching, partly due to losing Z and Lilly. What point are you trying to make? What does being tied for first on August 6th have to do with anything? Bad bulpens tend to get exposed at some point. Lack of depth definitely hurt this team with having no backup for our most oft-injured and best player. You're right, those 20 games that Fontenot played at 3B really killed us. Point is that people are blaming the ARAM injury for everything, but after he came back we were in first place and just let it slip away the last 2 weeks. Our depth hasn't been the problem and 1 of ARAMs replacements, Baker, has been the one of the only ones doing anything the last 10 days. ARAM getting hurt had nothing to do with a terrible bullpen, bad managing, and Soriano being terrible.

  19. haha ya then get him caught so that he's banned and we won't have to pay him. Exactly! We need to get someone to send it to him, plant it in his locker, force feed it down his throat when he's drunk, whatever.
  20. Loads and loads of HGH. I'm talking Bonds level.
  21. There is pretty much no reason to believe that the Cubs will make the playoffs in the next 2 seasons unless they approach a Yankees-level payroll or Soriano is unable to play and insurance covers his contract. Thanks a lot, Jimbo, I hope Aaron Miles and Soriano are giving you sponge baths when you are in a mental institution after being run out of town.
  22. Chone Figgins: 3 years, 27 million to play 2B. Book it. And then kill me.
  23. I think a lot of owners will use the "we missed out on the premier guys so we didn't sign anyone" excuse as a way to cover their obvious slashing of payroll because the team is losing money. According to a lot of articles and a few Bill Simmons podcasts, numerous teams in the NBA are hemorraging money right now and are just waiting for contracts to expire so they can save cash. I think the days of overpaying for mediocre/bad players may be on hiatus for a few years in most sports (unless you're Jim Hendry).
  24. Haha. Howard has a 3B and now a SB leading to a run in this series. We suck.
