  2. Is that his bat or his...
  3. Glad to see that the NCAA found someone to take USCs punishment. That's always nice to see. Thanks for taking one for the team IUPUI.
  4. At least he drafted Darko over Carmelo, Bosh and Wade.
  5. At least we have 4 more years of this after this season. Great contract, Hendry!
  6. I can name a whole bunch that are a whole lot less storied (obviously a subjective thing)... From the black sox stuff to all the bill veeck stuff, I think they have their share of baseball lore... They were one of the charter franchises of the American League, have won 3 world titles, play in a top-3 media market and have several hall-of-fame players. They're certainly not top 4 (Yanks, Red Sox, Cubs, Dodgers), but probably top 5-10. Cubs over Cards? Depends on how you define "storied". If it is by national following, its the Cubs hands-down. If it is by success, then the Cubs are one of the least storied teams and the Cards what, 3rd?

  8. I think so as well but, could that be another max FA? Wade and Bosh for example? Unless Hinrich is dealt there's not gonna be room for 2 max FAs. There might not even be room if we do deal him. Besides, we're looking at a bench of Alexander, Warrick, Pargo, Johnson, Flip "Ronald" Murray, and Acie Law. None of those guys are viable rotation players on a good team except maybe Warrick and most of them won't be back anyway. We're probably losing Miller too. If the Bulls are fortunate enough to get 1 stud they'll need to find a few solid rotation guys. The draft would be key. So next year's Bulls will hopefully look something like this: Starters: Rose, Joe Johnson, Deng, Bosh, Noah Bench: Hinrich, Gibson, James Johnson, 4-7 rookies/bad players Only possible if Joe Johnson takes less than a max contract, but not that much less. The 4-7 extra guys will have to include a SG, a SF, a C, and 1-4 multi position guys. That's an extremely strong top 7 though.
  9. That's what she said
  10. Ahh, makes sense. THat'd be nice. I wonder what the additional wind coming through the stadium will do? It could make the wind even more of a presence meaning even less HRs with wind coming off the lake, but ESPECIALLY when it's coming from the south and west. There could be even more garbage pop up homers going out. Maybe one of the engineers or weather guys on the board can make this a project.
  11. Ladd at tonight's Bulls game w/Fraser, so he's still in Chicago as of now.
  12. I have a feeling Blue Jays fans will be tempted to fight this clown by Canada Day. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/MLB-offseason-buzz-012010
  13. And Seattle has a player that likely will be a first-round NBA draft pick. Apparently Seattle went into foul mode coming out of the half since they were so far behind. 6 players for Seattle fouled out and they had to finish the game with only 4 players. And Seattle beat Oregon State in Corvallis by 51 earlier in the year. Does that mean Washington will beat the Beavers by 98 points? Crazy stuff.
  14. DePaul played fairly well, but had no answer for ND on the boards and some lackluster perimeter defense. I'm glad Webster is letting the young guys play (Faber, Wallace, Hill, Kelly) rather than wasting a bunch of minutes on walk-ons like Wainwright did. Let's hope these guys can progress a bit before the new coach comes in. At least they are competitive now and beating Marquette is always fun, ND would have been the cherry on top.
  15. I predict Joe Namath is hammered right now and thinking about jerking it to Suzy Kolber.
  16. Because Johnson is always healthy? Also, we'd be paying Byrnes the minimum (500k?) while Reed would make probably $1.5M or more.
  17. Any interest in Byrnes as our 4th outfielder after he is officially DFAd. We'd obviously get him for the minimum.
  18. Not to put too much pressure on Jean Lenti Ponsetto, but this next coach selection will likely decide the fate of the DePaul athletic program. Their contract with the Big East ends with the 2014-2015 season and if they continue to be putrid, they will likely get kicked out and replaced, likely ending in the Atlantic 10 or Horizon League, likely costing the university millions in revenue and likely eliminating more sports from their already pretty thin athletic program budget. Kudos to her for finally standing up for the tradition of the program and ending this clown's reign. Now hopefully some alumni will pony up some money for a real coach because the money wasn't even there to buy him out last year even though she tried.
  19. Reed wouldn't have made any less than the $3 million he made in 2009 had the Cubs elected to retain him. You can still re-sign a guy you don't offer arbitration to. Like the A's paying Jack Cust less than what he got paid last year.
  20. Would the Bears have any interest in Jim Mora Jr. as a D coordinator now that he's been canned by the Seahawks?
  21. Only in Alabama: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4809698 Cue the banjo music...
  22. I'd rather have Pods at 1/$1.75 than Byrd at 3/$15. Better yet, how about a platoon of Reed Johnson and Fuld for the same as Pods is getting paid. Hendry just loves wasting money on average players.
  23. Didn't Reed make an all star game or two? Still a bad trade, but not the worst on the planet. You're thinking about Rick Reed. He was an all-star in 1998 and 2001 with the Mets. Ah yes, that's it. Terrible trade.
  24. Didn't Reed make an all star game or two? Still a bad trade, but not the worst on the planet.
  25. And they offered Teixiera like $160 to $180 million last year. It would be cool for them to be good someday.
