  1. Come back after another month of .160 batting average. Fontenot and Marquis suck, but not nearly as much as Edmonds. Theriot has actually been pretty good this year.
  2. Gallagher didn't seem too interested in that at bat.
  3. Epic Phailing sounds like a fantastic band name!
  4. That's fantastic. I've been on the "hating Lou" bandwagon since the beginning. Search a few threads from last year where everyone basically told me I was wrong. The Cubs career parallels are just beginning, and will continue when we miss the playoffs in September somehow. Remains to be seen if we bring back Macias and Neifi to bat 1 & 2 after Lee breaks his wrist again next April. Now, we will win like 17-4 tonight and I will look like a moron and Lou and his "give up" lineup dominates. At least thats what I hope happens. Go Cubs.
  5. Mets have 0 chance of a fire sale with their new stadium set to open next year. If anything, they might try and re-tool. If not for this year, then next. The only one they could look at trading would probably be Delgado, who sucks anyway. I am enjoying them sucking. Watching them blow that division last year was fun. I pretty much loathe anything that has to do with New York.
  6. Lou Piniella is a giant moron. I am seriously sick of his crap. The White Dusty strikes again. Seriously, Soto 7th? Good thing their best hitter is now batting behind a 38 year old Jim Edmonds.
  7. Soriano for Beltran straight up. Sign me up!
  8. A 4.2 40 will get you noticed in many avenues of sport (track, football, baseball, soccer maybe if you have any endurance). Granted, you have to have other athletic talents, but you'll get a ton of chances if you're that fast.
  9. It wasn't bad, but it took forever to get in and out of the park today for some reason. I'm blaming it on tourist season starting. Go back to Iowa, people.
  10. I don't see how his OBP would decline if he hit 15-20 homers. If his approach is patient line-drive hitting, attempting to hit more home runs would change that approach. It's not some for-certain thing, but it seems reasonable. Hasn't Ichiro also said the same thing...that he could hit for more homers but he'd overall be a less productive hitter. I believe he's put on quite some shows in BP. Guys with superb bat control and pitch recognition (not talking about race at all) like Ichiro and Fukudome probably could hit for more homers at will by lofting the ball more and swinging at pitches they could elevate. But fly balls are turned into outs much much more than liners and grounders and by having to be either more or less selective (based on what the pitcher is throwing them), there would definitely be an impact on OBP, as well as other stats. I agree, to an extent. Wade Boggs and Tony Gwynn also took this approach for much of their careers.
  11. It almost looks like the Padres season ended last year against the Brewers when Hoffman blew that save. Fixed.
  12. Please either give up a grand slam or get this guy out so I can have a good idea of whether or not to watch the rest of game or not. Thanks.
  13. Rich Hill, please come back. Now. Fight Piniella if you have to.
  14. DeRosa looked like garbage in that at bat.
  15. Very 2006 Cedeno-like baserunning from the Riot this year. Brutal.
  16. Very hard liner right at him. He's playing shallow, runs in a few steps, realizes it's about to go over his head and makes a kind of awkward jumping catch. Big play from Theriot! Thanks. Theriot must have watched Edmonds then, both trying to get on Sports Center with easy plays made difficult.
  17. description of Edmonds' catch please?
  18. Rich Hill got sent down, huh. I wonder if Lou's hill's pee-tainted Cheerios tasted as bad as they sound.
  19. Other--all of the above. You people are like crack...
  20. Love all those Duke players! Oh, God, I didn't even think about that. I might have to change my mind. At least they are the "we just used Duke's name to get publicity and bailed early because we are awesome" Duke guys, rather than the "scrappy, overrated, just good because we're on Duke, fake an injury and put my mouth around Coach K's manhood" Duke guys.
  21. That is fantastic. Leyland just throwing those guys under the bus. Fantastic. I think him and Inge have a Piniella vs. Dibble fight in their near future. Good times!
  22. Gagne update: pulled after 2/3 of an inning. 2 hits, 2 walks, 2 runs, 0 K, 2 men on base. Salomon Torres just replaced him. DFA?
  23. FYI Gagne still sucks, given up 2 runs in the 9th and an out to the warning track. Brewers up 7-2.
