  1. I just got back from the Boise game, so I will post some highlights now and more details and a few pictures tomorrow. 1) I am sorry to say, but I wasn't that impressed with Pawelek. Every once in awhile he would let one go and I would say wow, but then every once in awhile one would end up at the back stop. To be fair poor defense hurt Mark. He wouldn't have given up the first two runs but for an error by the shortstop Baez. An error by the second base man, Matulla, indirectly led to the third run. And a wild pitch from Mark was key in the fourth run. But Mark was never dominate on the mound. The second time through the line-up SK started to get better swings off him. He has talent, but... 2) DJ Lewis looks like a stud player in the making, but... He also seems to be a bit of a showboat. He got picked off first by the catcher after straying too far after a pitch. He let a routine single go between his legs. I think he will be OK, but he needs to focus on the game. 3) The player that caught my eye was Baez. He ripped a double down the left field line in his first at bat. And while he did commit an error (a wicked line drive right at him. His glove went to the right spot but his body couldn't resist the impulse to get out of the way, so the ball dribbled past him.), I think he has the makings of a decent shortstop. 4) SK, for whatever reason, showed no desire to pitch to Lansford. Nothing came close to the plate and he walked 4 times. Remember, this is all based on one game. More tomorrow.
  2. I talked to the Boise radio guy about visiting NSBB and having a bi-line similar to JaxxRadio and PeoriaVoice and he seemed interested in the idea. But then he asked me how to contact you guys and I realized I wasn't sure how. I told him to do a search for NSBB and go to the message board. (He may be reading this post.) So I need help from a mod or Tim. How do you want him to contact you?? Post it here where he can read it, or more likely I will relay the info to him at tomorrow's game.
  3. I will see Boise when they face Salem-Kaizer starting tomorrow. It looks like Boise is in for a losing season (although as of yesterday they were in a 4-way tie for first place in the west), but that doesn't mean they will not have decent prospects. Last year Atkins, Reed, Muyco, and Mota were all with Boise. Any suggestions on who I should watch this year?
  4. Man my team is having a terrible week. Rios with 1 point, Gonzalez with 3, and so on. Good thing GHS is right there with me. If you were to just use this week's scores it would be hard to believe that two of the league's better teams are playing. Ah well at least I will still have the league's leading defense after the week is done :stickman:
  5. Quakers need to win this week! You need to have a peep talk or something. Put something up on the board! I am not sure that a "peep" talk is what my team needs:) To me it seems that this week hangs on Beckett and Clemens. Beckett has been ineffective of late and Clemens hopefully will have a short, rough, return. It would also help if my top hitters were facing Cub's pitching this week :x
  6. I will answer my own question. No. All that the suspension has done is to move Randy's start from Sunday to Monday. So instead of being a 2 start pitcher this week he is a two start pitcher next week. It doesn't seem fair to be able to have 2 starts both weeks. Juan is my analysis correct? If not let me know. I am in a tight one with GHS and could use all the help that I can get.
  7. For me it is different. I have rooted for Boise and for Eugene when they have been Cubs affiliates. I mainly go to see the young prospects and then enjoy watching them mature as they go through the system. I will occasionally see Beavers games (when they are not playing Iowa), but then I am usually looking for good prospects and enjoying watching a baseball game. I really don't root for the home team.
  8. Peullo is repeating at Boise so he should put up better numbers than the others.
  9. With 2 starts against 1, I am still down (albeit by a slim margin). THis does not bode well. Me thinks that this could be a rough week.
  10. Arg...Duke fails to get things started. R. Johnson may miss his second start due to a suspension. Can I substitute a pitcher for him so that I do not miss his second start for the week? GO RAW!!!!

    WEEK 11

On the the other hand Zimmerman hit a homerun :D But it looks like I will not have the weeks top score :x I will just have to settle for trouncing Juan :smokin:
  12. With the Northwest League about to start, the Idaho Statesman has a nice article about Boise. Some useful info about prospects plus the usual get to know the players fluff. http://www.idahostatesman.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060618/NEWS0308/606180369/1037/NEWS03

    WEEK 11

I am afraid of jinxing myself, but...It looks like the Quakers league leading defense is coming through again. But with Juan's offense I need to be careful. Now if I can only find a way to have it work on Tim.... I am afraid that the last time we locked horns his defense worked on me.

    WEEK 11

A couple of homeruns from Rios and a quality start from Contreras is nice 41 - 6.5 so far :D

    WEEK 11

A bit of an understatement. I need another great week from Beltran and Mauer.

    WEEK 11

Hopefully my defense will work as well on Juan as it did on Matt!!
  17. I have a couple of players that are on fire. Mauer has been unbelievable and Beltran must be turning a few Mets fans into believers.
  18. It looks like the Quaker's league leading defense is doing a number against Matt this week :D
  19. Yeah, he keeps this up and I'll have my 2nd win in 3 weeks. So this is what they mean by "Winning Uggla-ly" :D
  20. Because Jenkins played last night (he went 4-4), I am putting him back into the line-up and reserving Hermida.
  21. So far I seem to be catching Matt while he is having an off week. Hopefully his pitching woes wil continue. Meanwhile Mauer and Rios are really on fire. I hope Wilken's can land a few prospects like Rios for the Cubs during his tenure.
  22. I benched Jenkins since he is day-to-day and activated Hermida.

    WEEK 9

Thank you Sabathia :D I am worried about my team in the coming weeks though. They just aren't hitting the way they were earlier in the season.

    WEEK 9

I am involved in a pretty tight game. I have a 28 point lead, but my opponent has both starters (and Casy Blake), in tonight's game [with Anaheim vs. Cleveland. I need it to be a slugfest (outside of Blake of course), with KRod saving it for Anaheim in the end.

    WEEK 9

yea, I told them we were down two starts so they had to make up the gap. This much offense production...It's gotta to be steriods!!! My guess is that it is not the pep talk, but the pep pills
