  1. I have 4 of the Angels top infield prospects. Unless Wood is switched to third, Aybar and Callaspo will have to be traded to another team to realize their true potential. If anyone is interested, these two prospects may be available. I saw that you were cornering the market on Angels MIF prospects. Too bad Cabrera's in the way, huh? :D You take the best of what's available. At the time I needed to draft a prospect or two the Angel infielders were free.
  2. This sounds good too. I have 4 of the Angels top infield prospects. Unless Wood is switched to third, Aybar and Callaspo will have to be traded to another team to realize their true potential. If anyone is interested, these two prospects may be available.
  3. This sounds good; From CBS-Sportsline Also this; apparently the Red Sox were trying to ship Manny Rameriz to the Angels and;
  4. I haven't seen this posted anywhere else. From BA's minor league transactions.
  5. I would keep an eye on Reed and Muyco. Reed has decent enough defensive skills and he hit better than his stats would indicate for Boise. Muyco is better defensively than Reyes (I believe I read somewhere that he could have played defensively in the majors last year) and he can hit better too. Defendnis will interest me if he makes the jump to Daytona. A good line drive hitter, he needs to show more power. He played right in Boise, but I think he is destined for left if he makes the majors.
  6. Trying....really.... hard....not.....to....make....a....joke....about....having....to....be....really....tempting....to....get....Wood.........arg...... :willynilly:
  7. I found this information interesting. I saw Mota play second for Boise last year. He was a bit overmatched at the plate, but he handled himself well on the field. Doing that while you are 18 in a league where most of the players are a couple of years older than you qualifies you as a darkhorse candidate as a prospect. I thought he would repeat at Boise, but if he can succeed at Peoria, he may be worth watching.
  8. I try. :D Me too O:) NC...What, and where, do you teach? Myself, I am a math teacher in Portland, Oregon.
  9. Who is a teacher??? And what do you have against teachers?
  10. I think Hendry knows that he is not going to be able to outbid baseball for the premium FA talent. If he lands a big name (Alou, Nomar, etc..), it will come with a big risk. I still think that the best way for the Cubs to overcome mediocrity is with a strong farm system. A few years ago this looked like it was happening, but the last couple of drafts have been disappointing to say the least. That is why I am very interested in Wilkin's signing. From the reports I have read, he has been a key player in an organization that has produced a considerable amount of talent. But is he someone who will coast and earn his salary living off the expectations developed during his Toronto tenure or will he and his team of assistants deliver. I will be very interested in the upcoming draft and I am really looking forward to this year's Boise team. (They will be in Salem the second week of June this year!)
  11. Tim, you are already doing research on who is available in the draft??? No wonder you went undefeated last season. :salut:
  12. A link to an article from Portland's Oregonian. http://www.oregonlive.com/news/oregonian/index.ssf?/base/sports/1136606136177420.xml&coll=7 Highlights of the article. Portland is just one of several options, including staying in Miami. The interim park they are referring to would be PGE park where the AAA team the Beavers play. It is small by MLB standards, but it could do in a pinch until a new park was built. Also, despite a reputation that says otherwise, baseball does work in Oregon. Most of the rain falls from November until April. From July through October it is generally quite dry here. The early season games (and play-off games) would be in jeopardy though.
  13. I bet there are a considerable number of parents, especially in the SF area, that wish that the word "steriods" did not have to come up when their children talk about him. For me, my early thoughts center on how early I should start selecting pitching. I have had some decent offenses over the years, but I have never been able to put together a solid pitching staff. Does anyone know if Kent will qualify at both second and first next year?
  14. Do you really think Bonds will return to form? Come to think of it Sheff is getting a little old too :loser: All this talk of past championships is boring. Shoot, NC will probably win this year.
  15. Juan - The check is in the mail. Tim - Did you get my check for premium service? Spring cannot come too soon. But after some really good news for a few of my prospects during the fall league, the trading season has not been so favorable to me. Eldred will probably start in AAA and McCarthy looks like he will be the sixth starter for the Sox.
  16. I have to agree with the overall sentiment of this thread. It sounds like one of the best moves of the off-season. This sounds pretty good. (From BA http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/news/051222wilkin.html) It seems that Hendry's reputation helped seal the deal. I thought Hendry did a fine job with our minors, but since he has moved on, well... Last year's Boise's team was decidingly lacking in talent.

Mine is in the mail also. O:)
  18. My take on Hill is that he is always going to give up a large number of homeruns. Maybe someone who knows more about this can correct me, but pitchers who rely on a fantastic curve are vulnerable to the long ball (Bert Blyleven is my example). When that breaking pitch doesn't break, it goes a long way. So for me the key is control. Those inevitable homeruns must be solo shots.

    Bored...

Lol. I may take you up on that when :pig:
  20. I will have to think of some way to change that :demon: After all Juan must earn his keep.
  21. Beinfest is a shrewd GM. He plucked Willis away from us. I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt on this deal. Sanchez is going to be good. Beckett's amazing, but he hasn't been injury free himself either. I have to agree with this post. Admittedly it is a today for tomorrow trade, but Florida has impressed me over the years as a team that can judge talent. Both up-and-coming and when that talent has reached its peak. I think both teams will win from this trade, but in the long run Florida will be happy.
  22. Petty good. Try this. http://www.badmash.org/videos/videos_flv.php?v=george_bush_512K_Stream&t
  23. I will have to mull that offer over. Let me consult my baseball manual and I will get back to you ASAP. :readingxxx:
  24. Well, with the Fall League over (except for Saturday's championship game), my players have done well. Brandon Wood hit .307 with a league record 14 homeruns. :D Howie Kendrick hit .389 with 5 homeruns. :D Brad Eldred hit .289 with 7 homeruns. :D And Angel Guzman came on strong in a hitters league and posted a 3.82 ERA :) The offseason can not go by fast enough.
