  1. He denied involvement, that should be no surprise. Palmeiro told all of America he had never used steriods. Period. We all know how his story ended. this is different. It has been rumored his name was in the affidavit. That is where all of this started. He is saying his name is not in the affidavit at all...it is easy to prove one way or the other unlike other things. Either his name is there or it isn't...I have seen somewhere else that the number of spaces crossed out does not even add up to the amout of letters in his name...let the rumors fly. That's not exaclty a scientific conclusion you have come up with. If by his denial you believe people will just stop digging into him and his relatioship with Pujols you are wrong.
  2. Thanks Bruce....They leaving Neifi tied up in the clubhouse again ?....j/k
  3. Greg Anderson did 3 months in prison and,IIRC, 3 months house arrest. You are correct in stating that Mihfled has not been accussed of anything and of course Grimsley could have got his drugs from anywhere, possibly his brother but obviously there are quite a few ways. I'm just saying that they way the over-hyped 24/7 sports media works (read: jumps to quick conclusions) this will be a common reaction.
  4. I really don't like our chances in this series at all. Seeing as ytdy's game thread was 20 pages long and the CUBS don't inspire much I will only predict that tonights game thread will be even shorter. Enjoy the loss CUBS you bunch of mopes.
  5. Barry Bonds & Greg Anderson = Albert Pujols & Chris Mihlfeld The way things work these days I will let anyone jump to their own conclusions.
  6. What a goal.......that was a beaut !! 2-1 Germany.
  7. Big time pressure by Germany.
  8. Goalllllll Germany. Nice shot.
  9. And the games begin !!
  10. I have mixed emotions about all of this. As I said in a post ystdy this Grimsley investigation will have a lot of legs. It will take precedence over the Mitchell inquiry because of the subpoena powers of federal authorities. Already witnesses are being told not to talk to Mitchell due to other proceedings. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/09/sports/baseball/09steroids.html?_r=1&oref=slogin The investigation of Grimsley has far greater sweeping powers tham Mitchell could ever have had. As one poster said earlier in this thread and I have said before the witch-hunt mentality that exists right now is disturbing. It seems that all roads just want to lead to Bonds. As far as Pujols goes, it will become a "guilt by assocation" type thing. As far as HGH goes, the only thing I believe is that the chemists/scientists that design synthetic steriods will always be a step ahead of the detection process because by default one cannot detect something one doesn't know about.
  11. Kind of like the Velvet Hammer if you ask me. You aren't suggesting Bonnie Bernstein are you ??
  12. Go England !! Don't think Italy wins. History doesn't favor Brazil, although that shouldn't matter. The host team MAY squeeze in. The Dutch team does look pretty good however.
  13. As we all can bemoan the recurring DL stints by Wood and Prior, it looks like Rich Harden has a few issues as well. He is a great pitcher when healthy ( where have we heard that before) and was a pre-season AL CY Young pick by many "experts". ( Side note: I picked Roy Halladay).....plus he's only 24 yrs old. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2475417
  14. I'll give you my opinion on Kerry Wood. I think he was one of the greatest pitchers stuff wise I have ever seen, for 1 year at least. What made Kerry Wood's stuff so good was his bad mechanics. The way he threw the ball is what made him so good but what also distroyed him phisicaly. The 1998 Kerry Wood was not built to last. He'll never likely be that pitcher again not with the way he has had to alter his mechanics. He may be mediocre but he will never dominate like he once did. Just my 2 cents. I love Kerry for the memories that I have of his early days and thats how I will remember him when he is gone from the game, as that kid that struck out 20 one foggy day in Chicago. The one that made the Houston Astros look like little leaguers for 9 innings. Kerry was awesome once and thats how I'll remember him. Well written, well said. I agree with you. He is my favorite Cub. I have 2 Wood CUBS jerseys, a "We Got Wood" T-shirt and I was lucky enough to have met him at spring training a couple of years ago in Scottsdale. I think he is a class act, a real "gamer" and a leader in the clubhouse. I truly feel for the guy.
  15. I'm guessing that since Grimsley was a marginal pitcher trying to extend his career his circle of "user players" were also marginal players looking to extend their careers. I doubt Grimsley had very much association with "star" players like a Sosa or Clemens et al. Obviously just a guess and a crude assumption, but I doubt Grimsley named any players of substance. That being said, this story is going to have plenty of legs and will serve to make the Mitchell inquiry useless.
  16. The Reds are hot right now. The CUBS, unfortunately, are not. This has all the makings of a long series for us. That's all.
  17. everybody's doing it Exactly.....everybody but the CUBS.
  18. Well we can comeback against Lidge can't we ? :sigh:
  19. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. You are so right.
  20. Way to go Juan...take one for the team. Now use your speed. HA
  21. Good time to leave work early and go drinking In.
