Why can't the Cubs develope position players?

Because when we need a backup LF to replace Soriano, we yank a dude out of his natural position in Patterson and effing leave Murton in AAA. Jim Hendry is a denizen of evil. -

we'd be looking great with ray durham at 2b, jd drew in rf and jason schmidt in the starting rotation I wanted Schmidt, so I have to eat crow on that one. I didn't want Schmidt, but I want us to look back on Drew v. Soriano when Drew's contract expires in 2011 and see how we feel about owing another $54m to Soriano over the next 3 years. Drew struggled last year but he's off to a hot start and I'd still rather have his career .390 OBP near the top of the order than Soriano's .326. Judging long term deals after 1 year is risky. Unless the deal happens to include our dumbass deal to Soriano which keeps him on the take until he can be carbon dated. Then its easy to know its not going to be any good.

Do you believe you got me somehow? I was away from the computer pretty much until just now. I believe it was a single down the right field line. So, where are we now? Another 1/4 day. .222/.222/.278 on the year. Still in line to get the most ABs.

Update 4/4: Ryan is 0 for 1 with a weak grounder to 2B on the first pitch, and he flubbed a DP turn in the top 3rd. 2nd AB: Two pitches, one weak flyout to CF.

Who in the hell is JR Towles, and he has a nice cartwheel.

Soriano has a nice history of being much better, and he's not that old yet. Theriot has a nice history of repeating that AB more often than not in his career.
