  1. I'd have to take a break from the cubs for a month or so if we dealt Murton. He has been such a bright spot recently (last couple of years), and trading him for Griffey is just a waste IMO. I don't dislike him, but he'll be hurt immediately. Any trade for Griffey will be very costly and very disappointing. If we got Dunn out of it, and put him on a 4year deal right away, I could live with that more easily. I just have nightmares of trading the Murt to Atlanta or Cincy, and watching him become a .380 OBP guy with decent pop at a 500-900K salary. I'm very nervous with Hendry at the helm this year. He's like a drunk walrus.
  2. And they've proven they can't pick retreads either. If the Cubs get Billy Beane, John Schuerholz or Mark Shapiro, great, but I don't see a large pool of available GMs who are screaming "I am the man that will get the job done in Chicago!" What the Cubs have proven is that doing it the old fashioned way isn't going to bring a championship. They don't need a baseball lifer or a former GM. They need a person who can be a competent GM that won't ignore the problem areas that need to be fixed, rookie or no rookie. D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-DEPODESTA
  3. i think i am winning the lottery in the next two weeks before this happens though Vomit. If Jones did steriods, he'd be Torii Hunter, although Hunter can actually play defense. It would cost us a lot and we'd get a power bat that doesn't get on base that well. He would carry some draft picks with him, but god its not worth it. That said, it would be a perfect Cubs move. I've said since the beginning of the season that Hendry will get either Hunter or A. Jones during the offseason. He won't be able to control himself.
  4. let me know when murton can play centerfield How about now? I've got no problem at all with him in CF as an experiment. It literally can't be as bad as having our CF go 7 for 48. Murton's offense is his value. Or how about we put Soriano back in CF and play Matt at his position?
  5. Pie is not ready for the big leagues. Matt Murton is. I say we do nothing about it.
  6. These Cubs, like their forefathers, suck hard. I like that once we get down early, the squad just mails it in. Bunch of winners in there. We certainly promised a lot of money for a long time and got very little for it. It'll be interesting to see how many wins our [expletive] signings actually buy for us. I'll guess 10 total in 5 years.
  7. Calling the win, huh? I have a bridge I'd like to sell you. LOL at Backup Catcher Rob Bowen.
  8. is this sarcasm? i sure hope so. I'm afraid not. I'm just really pissed that I have had to listen to the [expletive] Brewers fans here in Milwaukee all year, and now we have a chance to get back in this race big time and one of our best pitchers just falls on his face. Every time I think the season might be getting better, this kind of crap happens. If you see a guy on the news for beating the crap out of 150 brewers fans, that will be me. Another walk by Rich. You're doing great buddy.
  9. I like to stay very stats oriented these days, and look at the team with the cool demeanor of an accountant going through the financials of a minor client. This is impossible to let go, however. Rich Hill has crapped on our season because he doesn't have his crap together for the first meaningful game we're playing since about three years ago. Now we have to waste the bullpen in the first game, and it just goes downhill from here. Thanks alot, Rich. Nice to see that you can still ruin all your potential by not having control of your emotions. You are weak and unprofessional. Commence swinging for the fence at everything, boys.
  10. He may not win the deal in the end, but you can bet that Mark Cuban will be making an offer for the team. I'd like to see him team up with Ernie Banks and some other Cubs legends to gin up support for his offer. He can create a chicago aura around him and put all kinds of pressure on the MLB to "do what the fans want." I really want a smart business man with a "I'll hire DePodesta" philosophy in here. Also, can Cuban arrange for Hendry to be blown up like the Bartman ball? He's been far worse for this franchise than that ball ever was.
  11. I'rr pray arong. Pujols Santana Utley Mauer Wright I tried to take age and distance from free agency into account, I guess. Hard to beat your list though.
  12. Its troubling that we can't sell to whom we want. We claim to run a democracy here, but we rarely get to do things without restriction or higher interests influencing things.
  13. Yeah, I was pretty sure that it was a done deal.
  14. I'd really like to trade him for something and meet up in the FA market after tthe year.
  15. Thanks Jim for the great ball team. It'd be really easy to turn into a braves fan. Young guys, tons of talent, smart manager... /sigh
  16. Can't be, he's a horse. It's all mental. I put him on the DL tomorrow. Put Guzman back in rotation. Let the new guy catch for the rest of the series. Call-up Pie for center and bench Jones. Awesome fight in the dugout. Awesome. I put him on the DL for nagging injuries to make an excuse for him sucking, give him a clean bill of health and unload immediately.
  17. Hit the DL, Z. You are injured and you know it.
  18. Yeah, but his bat makes up for it! 2007 Season: .244/.293/.417
  19. LOL! Chuck it right into the ground, Jacque!
  20. Its time to move on from this guy. He's the Jacque Jones of this season with more errors. Due to the fact that we already have a Jones on the team, time to part ways. There's a lot of crap on this team that we need to part ways with. Agreed. I'd start with everyone. regardless of position, age, or production. A fresh start would be sweet.
  21. wow, that's classy. What happened? Just got back to my desk. The Cubs needed Murton to play regularly and play well, he's not playing regularly and he's not playing well either. He's looked pretty poor out in the field. It's been said before, but that just reiterates the point the Cubs don't have a single OF playing where he should be playing. And they've got a couple guys on the infield who aren't ideal for their position either. Lee and Ramirez are the only everyday players playing where they belong everyday. Regardless if he plays once a year. A MLB player should be able to catch a routine fly ball. Yeah, he should. But playing out of position and dealing with the sun made that far from routine for Murton. Right. The Sun. He's been playing baseball his whole life under the lights. I forgot that no one had ever lost a ball in the sun before. I actually wonder if Theriot lost it first and told Matt. He lost the ball in the sun? Didn't look that way to me. The ball hit his mit and popped out. It looked like he lost it and saw it again too late to me. I've done that before when this 2B is thrust into LF/RF.
