  1. I swear upon all that is holy that you better not be talking about me. I've suffered my entire life watching this team every Sunday, many of those times I was watching in person in the Superdome, and I'll be damned if I'll be called a bandwagon fan, after ALL these years of suffering. Ole Miss, I believe you, even though I dont think you should care. BUT, I demand you answer this question .. Who was the greatest fullback in the history of the Saints according to me? If you answer this correctly... I decree that you are the king of all saints fans. If you answer incorrectly... we have killed time till the game starts.
  2. Thats crazy. Thats like saying quarterback is even because Brees and Grossman are both capable of making big plays. There is a huge difference in the numbers between the two guys. I wouldn't go so far as to call it crazy. I would. The Bears have the best special teams in the NFL. They also have a returner who broke the NFL record for KR/PR TD's in a season. To try to claim that the teams are equal here, is basically ignoring the facts. Hey, Bush might return one Sunday and Hester might not, but going into the game the Bears have a pretty wide advantage in this area of the game. I'm not suggesting they are equal, they aren't. The Bears special teams is DEFINITELY better than the Saints. What I was taking issue with was that it's "crazy" to compare Hester and Bush as playmakers. It's not crazy. They are both highly capable of the big play, much more than the average return man. It is crazy to compare them as punt returners. Look at the numbers: Bush: 28 returns, 2 FC, 7.7 ypr, 1 TD, 3 of 20+ yards Hester: 47 returns, 12 FC, 12.8 ypr, 3 TD's, 11 of 20+ yards In 19 more returns Hester has 8 more of 20+ yards and 2 more TD's, not to mention an overall average of 5 yards more than Reggie. It's not even close. I'm not saying Bush isn't special, he is, but there is no way it is equal like the Packer fan said, or even close to being debatable. Comparing those two on punt returns is just as crazy as comparing Rex and Brees in passing. Both are capable of being excellent, but one has done it far more often than the other. That is exactly what I said. To say or back up the contention that they are equal is ridiculous based on the numbers. Bush is a good punt returner, but you are comparing him to the best in the NFL(as an overall returner, Pac Man Jones is an outstanding PR as well).
  3. Hester is more likely to bring one back, but he is also more likely to muff one and turn it over. You all are talking about the guy who set an NFL record for returns for td. Hester averaged 12.9 ypr to Bush's 7.7. Out of all the positions, you guys picked a bad one to argue.
  4. Why'd you give place kicking to Gould? Carney has only missed 2 field goals all year and has a higher percentage this year than Gould. Don't get me wrong, I'm a great admirer of what Gould has done this year, but just want to know your rationale on that one. The dome makes a big difference. Excellent point that I had. Yes, you were correct in giving it to Gould. That was my rationale.... actually I had a huge problem with punter. I like weatherford alot and he had a very impressive year but maynard is one of the best punters in the NFL... But Maynard has been garbage in the playoffs.
  5. Im sitting in class bored so i wanted to do a side by side comparison Position Chi NO Advantage QB Rex Brees NO RB Jones/Benson Duce/Bush CHI FB McKie Karney Push WR Moose/Berrian/Davis Colston/DHend/Bush NO* TE Clark Campbell/Miller CHI LT Tait Brown NO LG Brown Nesbit CHI C Kruetz Faine CHI RG Garza Evans CHI* RT Miller Stinchcomb NO I cant make a judgement right guard because I havent heard anything bad/good about Evans other than he is a rookie; so I gave the advantage to Garza because of that and because Garza has had a pretty good year. McKie is a better reciever than Karney, and Karney has a reputation for being a solid blocker so I gave it a push. Bush is divide as a running back and receiver. If I were to just put him as a running back, I would give NO the advantage because of his receiving, but then give the bears the advantage at wide receiver because of Horn's injury. LE Whale Grant NO DT Tank Thomas NO NT Scott Young CHI RE Brown/Anderson Smith CHI SLB Hillenmeyer Shanie CHI MLB Urlacher M. Simoneau CHI WLB Briggs Fujita CHI LCB Tillman McKenzie CHI RCB Vasher Thomas CHI NB Manning Craft CHI FS Manning Bullocks NO SS Harris Bellamy CHI K Gould Carney CHI P Maynard Weatherford NO KR Hester Lewis CHI PR Hester Bush CHI
  6. This. I don't want to say it, but I sorta feel like people that are fans of teams from all over the place aren't really... as good fans as those that are from the hometown team. I get into this hometown thing really strongly. Conciously thinking about it, I know that people are big fans even when they aren't from a certain place, but it just doesn't feel right to me. I don't want to disrespect anyone, but thats how I feel. EDIT: I don't want people coming in here to defend their fandom, because I know you guys are true fans. But it still don't feel right. Not everyone lives in the same area their whole life, and not everyone has the same amount of interest/passion for different sports. That's kind of the point of my posts...I've moved every 2-3 years of my life, yet the idea of not rooting for my hometown team seems bizarre. If anything, living elsewhere so much and moving so often has solidified my love and loyalty to the teams that play where I'm from. Who your parents root for is important too for a significant amount of people.
  7. I would be scared of Bush receiving but not Bush rushing. It almost seems that the team that effectively stops the run will win. I know that is a given for the Bears offense, but even with Brees(my pick for MVP) playing like he has, their success is tied to clock managing run game. McAllister is the key.
  8. Saints defense is weak? They are 11th in the NFL, and over the last 5 regular season games, not including the throwaway Carolina game where our starters only played one series, the Saints have only given up an average of 12.6 points per game. Over that same 5 game stretch, not including the throwaway game against the Packers, the Bears defense gave up 21.8 points per game. Less than a month ago, the Bears defense gave up 31 points to the 29th ranked offense in the NFL. Kinda like the Bears barely eeked out a win against the Seahawks? The Eagles had the 2nd highest ranked offense in the NFL; Seattle the 19th ranked offense. That's why. Pretty interesting about the Saints Defense. http://community.foxsports.com/blogs/footballoutsiders/2007/01/15/Why_history_points_to_a_BearsPatriots_Super_Bowl
  9. I dont know about all of you but Nov 14, 2007 was one of the best days of my life. But now im back to square one, extremely nervous and hating the national media
  10. No one will be able to hear your clapping and the crowd noise will be decreased because of that. Go without gloves, we're only talking about a temp that feels like it's in the 20s. You're just jealous of the great innovative minds of our generation. Like me. Sure they're no hamburger earmuffs, but it'll help. Damn pickle matrix. Ok everyone, im going to bed... I have to get up around 4am to get to chicago!!!! And by go to bed.... i mean try to sleep... fail then watch: 1. the history of the bears dvd 2. Superbowl shuffle dvd and making of 3. My copy of Bears v. Falcons last year and fast forward to the begining of the the second half when mike patrick says "and REX GROSSMAN will come into the game for the first time this year!" then see his 20+ pass to Moose, and see the whole crowd go ape crap. 4. then get up to drive to chicago. For all those going to game, look for me.. all be the the guy in the Neal Anderson jersey, biting his finger nails. GO BEARS!!!
  11. PS.... I love all of you! This will be my first game at New Solider. I have been to two Bears games at Old Solider, 5 Bears-Packers games at Lambeau, and now 2 games at Ford Field. My first Bears game at Solider was a game a few of you might remember..... Bears v. Browns 11/4/2001... Greatest day of my life. I told my fiance that it is quite possible that our wedding day and the birth of our first child wont be able to bump that from number one on my life list. And if the Cubs... well lets not talk about it. BEAR FREAKING DOWN!!!

  15. Everyone... please console me.... I HAD A CHANCE TO GET TICKETS. Thanks to everyone here, I decided to give ticketmaster a chance like a lot of you did. I ended up getting seats. I quick called my friend in Chicago because I needed his credit card due to the stupid rule of not selling tickets to people living in different states. He is also a die hard bears fan. So I call him and say "hey...got bears tickets...need your credit card." He replies "hey, oh my god, awesome!!... ok.... wait.... I have to call (his girlfriend) and see if she will let me go." I was not thinking because I was too excited. He didnt call me till ten minutes later. We lost the tickets.. ](*,)
  16. Smart move. He is a natural UT, not NT. they have an nt... his name is ian scott, and scott needs to have a monster game this week.
  17. BILL HALL IS GOOD AT BASEBALL sorry thats all I had
  18. Eyre had a down year last year. His numbers were Ryan Dempster ugly last year, except for ERA. Yeah except ERA, whip, H/9... Are you sure? WHIP- Dempster 1.51, Eyre 1.48 H/9- Dempster 9.24 (2 more hits than IP), Eyre 8.95 (same hits and IP) BB/9- Dempster 4.32, Eyre 4.40 HR- Dempster 5 in 74 IP, Eyre 11 in 61.1 IP OPSagainst- Dempster .707, Eyre .799 HAHA I dont mean to argue with you but his ERA, WHIP, H/9 are worse than Erye. So yeah im sure.
  19. how the? I've been checking throughout the evening, especially at work when I had nothing to do. I came across two different pairs in the club boxes, but these were the first in the lower price ranges. Of course, tickets only came up like once every 30 attempts. Darn you Chicago, Northern Indiana residence!!!! Me want tickets

  21. That is terrible, god bless him and his family.
  22. I doubt eyre would get it done for him. I would love this trade otherwise. I think Hendry's man love for Pie will keep him from trading for a long term solution at cf.
  23. Nice catch Banedon. Actually let the national media continue to bash this team! This underdog attitude for an exceptionally talented and successful team can only help them
