2:55 Saturday Game Time Starts?
Handlebar McSkullet replied to Schwarber Fan's topic in Chicago Cubs Talk
TBS is picking up more national games this year. TBS has gone national now..right?? I believe that Fox ESPN and TBS contracted with MLB to televise games on Sat, Sun, Mon, Wed, and I think Tue for TBS. They are no longer exclusively an Atlanta Braves channel. -

Ouch. Ah well, he'll be laughing all the way to the bank. And then he'll be out of the NFL. I sorta feel for the guy, but honestly, he's a pretty horrible QB. He's also made an ass of himself enough times that he should have the self-respect (or the shame?) to quit getting lit in public. So this guy has to hide in shame because there are pictures of him being drunk? And this hasn't happened to every other college student ever? Why should he be publicly shamed? The stuff he has done, I have done, probably worse, all caught on tape or in a photo, and im a nothing... that story was sad for me. Orton did nothing wrong. I would have at least thought of buying him a beer. -

"Bears Win Super Bowl Despite UnBEARably Bad QB Play" Remember the AP story about the Seahawk game. the beginning of the story read: "Two swings of the foot by Robbie Gould were all the Chicago Bears needed to offset any shortcomings in Rex Grossman's arm." Yeah Robbie Gould helped the Bears overcome Rex Grossman 282 yard passing game including a 68 yard td pass to Bernard Berrian. BUT THE WORST OF THEM ALL IS DON BANKS OF SI!!! What a moron and an irresponsible journalist. Before the "Worst QB of alltime" article. He wrote this in his Bears-Seahawks recap. "But he threw a costly interception at the Seattle 5 early in the fourth quarter, lost a fumble late in the first half on a Julian Peterson strip and sack, and threw his only scoring pass (a 68-yard strike to a wide-open Bernard Berrian) in the second quarter. This is what is called rhetoric. First, that "costly" interception was a 5 yard in to Muhammad that hit him square in the chest! Then he writes "wide open" Berrian. Im pretty sure that ball was perfectly thrown in stride. It wasnt like it was the classic Cade Mcnown 40 yard duck to Marcus Robinson. Also in the story he wrote about how "good enough" Grossman made only one big play (30 yard to Davis), and that numerous passes that were thrown off his back foot "cost" the bears the chance to win the game. "With the game hanging in the balance in the second half, Grossman threw a collection of ill-advised passes off his back foot, repeatedly putting the Bears' playoff lives at risk." Actually, Don, Grossman orchestrated 2 drives in the forth quarter that didnt result in points because of drops(the muhammad interception and the Berrian drop pass). This is just one of the many examples of the national media reaching to write a negative article about a 26 year old qb in his first full season taking his team to the super bowl with a franchise who has one hall of fame qb in its 86 years of existence, and he played 60 years ago. -

Bears are #1 in the league vs Tight Ends. I really don't remember a tight end doing a lot of damage to the Bears this season. Yeah-I don't see Clark making a large dent in the passing game, but I do think he can clear out some of the crossing routes for the WR's (by going deep and drawing one of the linebackers out) or for Addai on swing routes out of the backfield, which has been a staple of the Colts passing game as well. It's just too hard to complete a pass on one of those linebackers, as they are really good in pass coverage. Teams have been holding TE's in to help with pass protection----that's why there haven't been many big time TE games against the Bears this season. If the Colts can get away with sending TE's out, it could be an advantage. I don't know if they will need to hold them in or not. In fact, I just have no clue whatsoever what is going to happen in this game. Ben Watson had a field day against us. But he was exploiting the gaps in the cover 2 on the outside... I dont think any TE had an impact up the middle or in the slots against us. Maybe Dan Campbell of Det. -
NO!!!!!!! Learn how to catch a punt/kick first. Then, in the off season pick a position and be awesome at it(he is certainly capable).

News Corp to join Chandler family's Trib bid
Handlebar McSkullet replied to photoguy9883's topic in Chicago Cubs Talk
It seems that what he is doing is trying to recieve interest in the Newspaper aspect of the tribune. It doesnt necessarily mean he wants interest in the Chicago Cubs. Plus, didnt the Chandlers say they would be selling the Cubs off anyway? -

Yeah. Although I didn't pay close attention. They talked about how stupid some people are (somebody apparantly sent an email about Grossman growing up a Colts fan and subconsciously wanting Indy to win). Grossman quote: "That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard", B&B reply: "You'll see a lot worse". How was going out on the town this season? RG, "I was mostly under the radar since I'm not 6'10", but people would come up to me and say they have my back and still support him. It was nice to hear, but kind of strange since we were 12-2 or something." Talk about how weird the week will be. Not much else. Same old Rex really. He sounds confident, but a little annoyed. Can you blame him for being annoyed? The way this town has been you'd think we were 9-7 fighting for a wild card berth. I can't say I wouldn't be more egdy with the media. I'm also digging his "No, thank you" response to questions about the whole pressure/controversy thing at his recent press conferences. All this year has done has turned Rex Grossman into, 1a, of my favorite athletes. (1 is and will always be Woody) -

I want Don Banks to die!!!! Seriously, I want him to perish!!! Im not saying Grossman lit it up, but this is just an awful thing to write. The Bears did not win in spite of Grossman, they won because. Tony Eason 1985 168 299 56.2 2156 7.2 11 td 17 int David Woodley 1982 98 179 54.7 1080 6.0 5 td 8 int- had three interceptions in the AFC title game. Rex Grossman 2006 262 480 54.6 3193 6.7 23 td 20 int -
Owned. OH jeez an awkward position the quarterback is in after a sack and the tight end is on his knees. Believe me, there are some we can post with Favre and Urlacher. Who's in the Conference Championship again? It must suck to not have ever seen a Super Bowl in your lifetime. Too bad it's not 1996 anymore. Good luck with Aaron Rodgers. Nothing like stupid packer fans to divert my attention. You sure you weren't the person on the cell phone that I heard outside of Soldier Field after the game last week that said on his phone, "YEAH WE WON!!! PACKERS SUCK!" Well it is true. We did win and the Packers do suck. Pretty random thing to say, wouldn't you think? I know if we won a playoff game, the second thing I would say wouldn't have been, "BY THE WAY, BEARS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111" Please. I live in Milwaukee. You know as well as I do that plenty of Packer fans would rag on the Bears if the situation was reversed. edit - I've been to Cubs games at Miller Park where "Bears Suck" chants have happened, you Packer People are no different. I also have live in Milwaukee for a long time, and grew up in Madison. It always comforts me to know that no matter how stupid Bears and Cubs fans get, I know it could be so much worse. Packers fans are, without a doubt, the dumbest fan base in sports. My friends who are die hard packer fans agree with me.

Two games were without Vasher, Two were without Tillman. Manning Jr. played outside. putting todd johnson, devin hester at nickel. teams were lighting us up over the middle. also... i really want people to understand how ridiculous the numbers are for the rams and bucs game. the rams got a majority of their numbers when the game was out of reach and the bears were in prevent. the bucs were the same. the bears were up 21-7 late in the second half. (that doesnt forgive the terrible coverage against galloway). packers scored 14 of 26 points off turnovers, and the bears had hester playing against furrey in the lions game(10 catches 100 plus yards, td).

Im not from the area but I remember that 50 states thing SI did where they polled people from every state to see who their favorite teams were. I remember Mississippi was a predominant Saints state. Thats why the katrina angle is a little annoying because they are also playing for biloxi and gulfport too. but no one talks about those areas.

Wow, outstanding retort! "the post makes no sense?" so now jones is a little above average and decent. I guess ill take that over average. There is a reason they got him on the cheep. 4 years 10 million dollar deal is cheap? Such a stupid comment. Quantify Franchise Back. Show me how Benson IS a franchise back. Show me why Jones is not. And I will agree with you. But give me statistic and not your unsolicited scouting reports. or we can just end this and go back to hating the Saints. Yes, 4/10 is very cheap for a starting RB. My "scouting reports" were actually solicited, seeing as how somebody asked for reasons why I thought Benson was better. I'm not sure Benson will be a franchise back, I just know Jones isn't. He's been around for a while and hasn't done much of anything. I wasn't a fan of Benson at the beginning, but from what I've seen, I think he can fit the bill. fine, how bout this goony, i think BOTH are going to light up the saints.

Or is it because he's the PROVEN veteran that has shown he can and will run for 1200/1300 yards. While the veterans may have complained, it's still not their call to make. It's the coaches. And I've never heard of anyone being mad about Benson taking the job, so I'll have to take your word on that. But you are right. There is no point in arguing this anymore. Some guys think Jones is better, some guys think Benson is better. But both sides will be happy when either one of them gets into the end zone. So I've said all I'll say on the Jones/Benson issue in this thread. apologies. im getting testy because I realize its only thursday. i love all three backs like they were my children. i honestly dont care if bridget jones scores a touchdown as long as its for the bears.

They tried that, but the veterans reportedly revolted. I think Jones' playing time might be more about team chemistry than best player. Jones isn't the guy who got you there. He's just the guy who has started at RB most of the games. He hasn't been anymore productive than Benson though. And you wouldn't miss anything if Ced took more of the touches. I cant believe this crap!!! I love Benson, but this "Jones is average, and didnt get us there" is absolute garbage with almost no statistical backing. This is same Griese is better than Grossman mentality. Everyone thinks the guy that isnt playing is better. Why cant we be excited for how Benson is progressing without bashing the only stable offensive production this team has had in the last three years? PS- I have a man crush on Benson, so im not saying Benson isnt great. I'm saying Jones is outstanding as well, and with all the talk about Duce and Bush, I truly believe the bears have a better running attack than NO. PSS- On everyone's logic, where is the call for Adrian Peterson to start? He has played very well when given the chance. See the lions game. Crap? Jones is average. Nothing more. He's not a special back, nor is he even close. He's a 1200-1300 yard back. He's a 4.0 AVG kind of back. He's underachieved significantly in his career, given his draft status. He's not fast, he doesn't break long runs and he's nowhere close to dominant. He hesitates at the line and dances too much. But he's not terrible. I'm not bashing. You just aren't reading. That wasn't crap, it's called an opinion and it's shared by the vast majority of others. This has nothing to do with Griese/Grossman, and it was quite stupid to bring that up. Jones isn't anywhere close to outstanding. Nobody wants Peterson because because hasn't come close to showing he's a possible franchise back. When in the history of the NFL has 1200-1300 yard back been AVERAGE? You are comparing Benson to Jones. 4.0 back? WHATS BENSON? 4.1 and 4.1... WOW!!! FRANCHISE BACK!!! "underachieved SIGNIFICANTLY" he led his team in rushing the last three years out of his 7. In the entire spectrum of the NFL, there have been a multitude of top ten backs who havent even played three years!!!! on this franchise alone we have had one! I'm not bashing. You just aren't reading. "average" calling jones average is bashing. when he ranked 11th in the nfl in rushing yards this year. there are 32 teams. that is ABOVE AVERAGE. That wasn't crap, it's called an opinion and it's shared by the vast majority of others. did you poll every person who watches football in the united states? does this include the people i sat with at the game last week that called for orton to start. no where close to dominant fine. but is benson, and who is dominant? tomlinson, johnson, gore, barber...??? thats four backs... so if jones isnt producing like they are its "average"? This has nothing to do with Griese/Grossman, and it was quite stupid to bring that up. i was pointing out the mentality of the fan base to covet the guy who isnt playing. "You just aren't reading."

I swear upon all that is holy that you better not be talking about me. I've suffered my entire life watching this team every Sunday, many of those times I was watching in person in the Superdome, and I'll be damned if I'll be called a bandwagon fan, after ALL these years of suffering. Ole Miss, I believe you, even though I dont think you should care. BUT, I demand you answer this question .. Who was the greatest fullback in the history of the Saints according to me? If you answer this correctly... I decree that you are the king of all saints fans. If you answer incorrectly... we have killed time till the game starts. Gotta be Ironhead Heyward!! CORRECT!!! At one time in my life the Bears had a starting backfield of Craig Heyward and Neal Anderson..... :thumright: You now are king of all saints fans.
