  1. His explanation is that Rex is more concerned about the where the next party is than what the next job is. Unbelievable. I knew as soon as Rex made that statement about not being prepared, everyone would be all over it. I know it seems silly, but Rex seems to be singled out and ripped on more than any other player I've seen in a while. Also, I'm pretty sure Rex is a gametape freak and a pretty hard worker. Plus, I think Orton is way more of a partier than him. SORRY EVERYONE I NEED TO VENT Esiason is a moron!!!! I am so sick and tired of people jumping on Grossman. Not because im a bears fan or the Bus driver for Team Grossman, but I seriously hope he goes ape "poopy" on the seahawks. They are raggin on him for being honest. The game was meaningless, and a week earlier, in another meaningless game, he looked like he lost his puppy when he got taken out. The national media and the token local blowhard(rosenbloom via marriotti) conveniently forget about the history of this team especially the last ten years, and the truly rancid quarterbacks we have seen. So as "bad" as Grossman has been, he is the first quarterback since Eric Kramer to: 1. start all 16 games in a season 2. Pass for over 3000 yards Enjoy this gaggle of Crap: Here are the passing leaders for this team since Kramer's first year in 94 2005 Orton, Kyle 368 190 1,869 9 13 59.7 2004 Hutchinson, Chad 161 92 903 4 3 73.6 2003 Stewart, Kordell 251 126 1,418 7 12 56.8 2002 Miller, Jim 314 180 1,944 13 9 77.5 2001 Miller, Jim 395 228 2,299 13 10 74.9 2000 McNown, Cade 280 154 1,646 8 9 68.5 1999 Matthews, Shane 275 167 1,645 10 6 80.6 1998 Kramer, Erik 250 151 1,823 9 7 83.1 1997 Kramer, Erik 477 275 3,011 14 14 74.0 1996 Krieg, Dave 377 226 2,278 14 12 76.3 1995 Kramer, Erik 522 315 3,838 29 10 93.5 1994 Walsh, Steve 343 208 2,078 10 8 77.9 So our 26 year old qb, in his first full season threw for 3000 yards!!!! WAHHH!!! HOW TERRIBLE!!!
  2. Eh? Basically a wash. Chris harris always seemed to me like he had the talent to play, but not quite the mind to play as a good safety. Todd Johnson is...eh as well. I keep hearing that Danieal Manning is consistently out of position. I'm not qualified to say yes or no on the subject, plus its hard to see downfield with the cameras always pointing at the quarterback as he drops back, so if anyone wants to weigh on this, please do. Manning has been really inconsistent with positioning. The second Detroit game is a great example. On the touchdown pass to Mike Furrey(a personal favorite) in the third quarter, they were in a zone where Devin Hester had the fflats, Manning had over the top coverage in the end zone. Furrey went past Hester and It was Manning's job to stay over the top if the flanker ran past the cb(hester). He was late in his recognition and Kitna was able to lob the ball over Hester to Furrey. Manning should have never gaver Furrey that much space. But Manning is very athletic and a really good open field tackler, when he learns to play that center field positioning he will be pretty good. Chris Harris in my opinion is outstanding playing inside the box, but thats why Brown is so good because he can make an impact in the run game, and is almost never out of position during passing plays.
  3. Fine Tim, maybe I should be more specific. Doug Davis, Dan Kolb, Brady Clark, "Scotty Pods"... all wavier wire gems.... ah forget it.... bad example =P~
  4. I love signings like this. Its how the brewers stay competitive. Low risk, high Reward.
  5. People forget that while the voting is completely flawed, they take into consideration fielding and baserunning. Bonds, like it or not, was an amazing fielder and baserunner. McGwire was neither. If I was a voter, I would just stop Bonds numbers after 98. Even then he was still a HOF.
  6. Federal League was considered a "Major League" like the American League before the merger or Players League in the Late 19th Century
  7. Im so damn nervous for this game and its only Tuesday morning.
  8. I hate Cowherd so much I have to listen to him.
  9. In my semi ritual on trying to read anything that has nothing to do with law, just got done finishing 3 Nights in August by Buzz Bissinger and I was curious on what book everyone here preferred. The classic question of whether you are a "3 nights" fan or a "Moneyball" fan or something else like "Baseball between the numbers".
  10. I dont know if we should use the "Bruce Signal" so judiciously.
  11. Well besides the obvious difference that Sheets left with an injury which affected his pitching, http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=260904116 Does that make him better or worse/ reliable or not?
  12. Cough Cough.... the key there is when healthy, and even if that is true he still isnt: a. a top five starter and b. better than Zambrano... I think Sheet is underrated... but that comment is ridiculous. I look forward to what ever obscure stat you will retort with. :)
  13. If I had to pay 18 mil, it would be for Zambrano... and I cant think of another pitcher over him Oh yeah Santana.... Zambrano is better than Webb, IMO, Oswalt is solid, but... I would still rather have Zambrano
  14. If I had to pay 18 mil, it would be for Zambrano... and I cant think of another pitcher over him
  15. ba doom doom cha
  16. if Zito gets 18 mil a year.... then Zambrano..... what 20 mil per?
  17. We still do. Id rather give Lilly another year then take that ridiculous contract. If you think Lilly is that much worse than Zito right now...
  18. When does the vet committee vote against santo again?
  19. Just because that's the average market price doesn't make it a good idea. The idea is to go cheap at certain spots by using young guys so that you can spend the extra cash on real difference makers. Suppan is not likely to be one of those. Yep, and I never said it was a good idea. you cant think this is a bad signing for the brewers, statistically he cannot be that much better/worse than the other pitchers signed in this price range this season. I know we all love statistical analysis, but when pitching is so thin, you cant argue with a guy who consistently pitches around 200 innings and wins more than he loses
  20. dude, i totally figured it out. florida is trading dontrelle willis, im a genius(or slightly bored and felt like saying something completely unoriginal)
  21. darn you Will Carroll, give me something.... for now im going to pout and say "it wont involved the cubs...mah wah.. the cubs never do anything fun"
  22. probably till the next hearing with this judge in late jan My dad just told me that the judge is a relative of mine, so I got that going for me. So.... go bears
  23. Didn't Gary Carter and Mazeroski play defense? A defensive 1B with little power will never make the HOF. Unfortunately, certain positions (2B, SS, etc.) are considered defensive positions whereas other positions (1B, OF, etc.) are not only considered offensive positions, but offensive with power positions. Unless you are someone like Tony Gwynn with 3000+ hits, you need to show some muscle. I agree with you, it just stinks that the automatic assumption is that if you didnt hit for power, you were a defensive player. With that said, If the writers werent enamored with JT Snow, I think grace would be a stronger HOF candidate, because he would have more gold gloves
  24. If the brewers sign suppan, the brewers will have a better rotation than either the cubs or the cardinals
  25. The first ballot HOF is generally the division.
