  1. I can't even imagine it ... a truly amazing accomplishment. I congratulate you on your resolve.
  2. He thought Chicago was high-stress. Wait until the Yankee fans get a good dose of him. LaTroy will be in the corner, fetal-position sucking his thumb.
  3. I used to read http://www.orangewhoopass.com, but I haven't been there recently. Mostly "meh" responses, with a couple of "yea"s sprinkled in. Zero negatives, but give it time.
  4. I thought this happened weeks ago. The move is even more awful if Yankee management had time to mull it over before pulling the trigger.
  5. Ed Wade is a maroon. Perhaps Hendry should take the proposed Brian Roberts package and train his sights on Hunter Pence.
  6. Sweet! About 4:30 pm this time of year, I can get most of the Chicago radio stations from DC to Richmond.
  7. Am I nitpicking, or is that just a poorly written, very confusing phrase? Their contracts will average $60 per season suggests to me that there are 4 guys whose individuals contracts will be $60m per year on average. Or that combined they will cost $240 million per year. Perhaps he should have said, their contracts will combine to cost the Cubs $60 per year, on average over the course of the respective deals. wow, I just now realized that Giambi and Jeter combined to make $45M last season Don't you mean "...combined to make - ahem - $45M..."?
  8. I lived near Hiroshima for 4 years, and it IS cool. Except for the Cincinnati Red copy-caps, that is!
  9. Hand him a big-ass stuffed animal when he crosses the plate while the Wrigley faithful do an umbrella dance? That'd be cool!
  10. This is very, very sad. I hope it doesn't come to this.
  11. I thought for sure they did one a few years back. When Mike Morgan threw the first pitch of the game with the old time windup. Was that a road game?
  12. If the Reds are going to be including Bailey and Hamilton and more in a package to get Bedard, I really don't like the Cubs chances of beating that price. < suspension of reality >But if by the off chance the Cubs do get Bedard, I'd flip him to Cincy for Bailey, Hamilton, et. al. in a heartbeat! < /sor >
  13. While not quite on par with "moran", "douch" is quite funny.
  14. Do you think Sullivan is even the slightest bit embarrassed by the contrast in stories between the Trib and the Herald? From the Tribune: Cubs general manager Jim Hendry was not available for comment to confirm the deal... From the Daily Herald: "He's a Cub, he's a Cub," said Hendry... Damm, that's awful. Good job, Bruce!
  15. Thank you so very much for the red-eye edition! Very much appreciated. Any word on Brian Roberts (and "the list" rumors?)
  16. Pads Lose Out on Fukudome ...but agree to terms with Tad Iguchi
  17. Tomorrow I can look forward to driving to work while listening to Peter Gammons wax philosophic on how this affects the Red Sox.
  18. Per Cot's Baseball Contracts through the 2006 season, so he's just over 3 yrs ML service: Joe Blanton p 1 year/$0.38M (2007) * renewed 3/07 * 1 year/$0.327M (2006), renewed 3/06 * 1 year/$0.3165M (2005), re-signed 2/05 * drafted 2002 (1-24), $1.4 M signing bonus * ML service: 2.016
  19. Check it out. It's looking fantastic: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/chc/fan_forum/seats_truelook.jsp
  20. Lime
  21. Go to FireJoeMorgan.com and do a search for Cowherd. You'll be entertained for literally hours!
  22. This story is fascinating. They found the Bears' old goal post anchors. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/cs-071025cubs,0,1633400.story?coll=chi_tab02_layout So what will the Cubs do with these long-lost chunks of Bears history? "They told me to toss them out," Bossard said.
  23. From the link that cubbiechris provided. The latest: http://images.bleedcubbieblue.com/images/admin/wrigley102507b.jpg
