  1. Turnbow should never pitch two days in a row. He has over an 8 ERA on the 2nd day of back to back days pitching. Yost was silly for putting him in but at least for once he took him out right away when he couldn't throw strikes.
  2. Yost is such an idiot, Hall can't bunt so you let him try with 2 strikes on him. At least let him strike out swinging which is what most likely would have happened.
  3. Don't worry, we still get to face Peavy and Young who have to be high up on that list too!
  4. He's only half Jewish and doesn't generally celebrate the Jewish hollidays so its really no big deal. As for MVP, Holliday's splits are too crazy to win it just like Tulo's are too crazy for him to win ROY. He has an .854 OPS on the road and over a 1.100 at home.
  5. The problem is 4 years of stats with RISP is a meaningless sample still. A full season of AB's is a meaningless sample, thats why so many guys have that one big career year and never repeat it. If you want to prove someone is really 'clutch' you are gonna have to be looking at 2000+ PA's of elevated abiilty with RISP and compare it to the league as a whole since its natural to have a better OBP with RISP.
  6. Its actually natural to have a higher OPS with RISP, the league as a whole is .020 higher in OPS with RISP. Most of it comes from elevated BB rates though.
  7. If the Cubs are only .5 games up after this series I think the division is decided by a tie breaker. Unfortunately as a Brewer fan I think the Cubs are up 1.5 after this series.
  8. There is a reason he is getting worse every year even though he's in his prime and this is probably it. You can do ok being on the top of that list here and there but pretty much all pitchers who top it on a regular basis burn out. See Hernandez, Livan; Schmidt, Jason; and Garcia, Freddy.
  9. Its very sad that plays like that count as a base hit. They need to either do away with the error stat or revise what counts as an error methinks.
  10. Braun is a converted SS still learning the position so I think he could turn into an ok defensive player. Right now he's a hack and I don't have a problem with a defensive replacement if it looks unlikely his bat will be needed. last night was a bad time for it though and the entire usage of the bullpen was horrible, bunting with Hart who was the best hitter up in that inning was silly, not pinch running for the pitcher who was probably done anyway was dumb. Yost is just clueless.
  11. And if the Cubs' big bats played to career norms the Cubs might have 90 wins right now. Apples and oranges, could've, should've, would've. No one has gotten more or less breaks, both teams have been pretty mediocre for a myriad of reasons. Let's not fool ourselves. But having Yost giving away games is good for us. The Brewers have had as many underachievers or more than the Cubs this season. Say what you will but Yost has cost this team its shot at the playoffs most likely.
  12. Well, every team has it's "what ifs", but Yost has been horrible. You could almost understand if he was making these moves in April, but what he did in a game as crucial as tonight's was simply mind-boggling. You have Berkman, Lee and Pence coming up in a tie game on the road in extra innings and you bring in a reliever who is average overall and who has been terrible lately so you can "save" your closer? It is really just preposterously stupid. In just the past month he has done this move, he has used Mench with the game on the line vs a righty. He has used Jenkins with the game on the line vs a lefty. He has used a september callup with the game on the line. He has let Linebrink face JJ when Shouse was up in the bullpen with the game on the line. He has left Turnbow in twice now when he couldn't throw strikes to lose games. Its almost like he is actively trying to lose games with some of these decisions.
  13. Yost could easily be the worst manager in baseball. I'm sad to say with even an average manager we would probably have a 2 or 3 game lead right now. This isn't a new thing he has made poor choices the entire season.
  14. Thank your lucky stars that we have such a bad manager or this division would be looking much different. I hate Yost so much but sadly I bet he has done just enough to lose the division for us next year too.
  15. Let me add I'm scared of tonights game @Hou. Bush has stunk on the road this season and it has been 3 years, 2 months, 21 days since the Brewers swept a team on the road!
  16. .738 OPS @Chi 1.015 @Cin .749 @Col .752 @Hou 1.052 @Phi .809 @Ari They feasted on Phi and Cin pitching which is no surprise. They were pretty mediocre against Chi, Col and Hou and were solid against Ari. I'd say the pitching splits are much larger than the hitting ones overall.
  17. My numbers show 22 ER's in 5 games @Wrigley field on the year with great offensive lines vs Phi and Cin and mediocre numbers against other teams on that list. They seem to be the anti Brewers. The Brewers stats aren't too terrible in road games @hitters parks but they are horrible @pitcher parks.
  18. Will we see Peavy though, how you can say that the last game of the season is going to matter for them. Maybe they are 2 games up in the wild card and 2 back in the division. Heck maybe they have a 2 game lead in the division by then. Its still 11 games away. There is also a decent chance that the Brewers are up or down by 2 games at that point and the game still won't matter.
  19. Well, you should be, as the Padres are much much better than the Brewers. Not on the road vs the Brewers at home they aren't Padres ERA in hitters parks this season... 4.12 @Chi 4.50 @Cin 4.86 @Col 5.82 @Hou 6.92 @Phi 5.47 @Ari They are a team built around defense and pitchers who will thrive in big parks. Their team ERA at home is 2.99, its 4.35 on the road and its over 5.00 in hitters parks on the year, they simply are not the same team in that situation. If the games were @SD I'd assume we lose 3 out of 4, @Mil is another story and as I said there is still a decent chance the last game or two aren't meaningful so I can't be too worried about that series just yet. The Atlanta series could be a nightmare though.
  20. I'm not all that worried about SD since they don't play that well in hitters parks and the Brewers get them at home and there is still time for them to become meaningless games. The @atl series scares the crap out of me as a Brewer fan. If we come out of that stretch with a 0.5 game lead or deficit on the Cubs then I'd start to get really worried if I were you. Truth is over a dozen games any team can be great or bad so both sides should be worried the rest of the season. All it takes is a mini slump and that team is done.
  21. I wouldn't count on that at all. Philly is making a run, and the WC is getting really tight. The Pads may have to fight for it. Plus they are only 1 game behind Arizona - and have the same number of losses - in the race for the NL West. yes but I'm a Brewer fan so I'm still counting on it! My money is on either the last game not making a difference for the Padres or the Central already being won by someone by that game.
  22. Actually I think his bad spell was more flukey than anything. He has a .709 OPS against and 85 K's in 94.2 IP as a RP but a 4.56 ERA, something just doesn't add up in there. He has looked very good since coming back as a starter and has a career 3.02 ERA as a starter now which is a bit flukey too, he probably deserves a high 3.00 ERA with his stats. The one matchup that might seem odd saying it is even is Villanueva vs Hudson but Hudson has been over a 4.00 ERA pitcher since mid May. He was absolutely dominating early in the year but he wasn't able to maintain it. Well plenty of the games could go either way. Bush vs Young makes me think we lost the game before we even play it though the stats posted above do make me feel a little better about it.
  23. Bush vs Young is the only pitching matchup that scares me in that Brewers list. Peavy of course is always scary but I'm counting on him not needing to go. The whole @atl series is scary too just because of how rotten the Brewers have played on the road in general. Should be a fun last 2 weeks.
