  1. I'll give them credit...yesterday they did get an awful lot of hits...its hard to get that many hits and have so little to show for it. Not really. They only had two walks. This team's problem is walks, they walk too many and don't walk enough. They had 9 hits in 33 AB, that's a .273 AVG which is actually pretty good for a team AVG. They had a .314 OBP last night, which is very bad for a team OBP. That pretty much sums up the Cubs, and is why they "seem" to score fewer runs than they "should". Throw in another runner stupidly getting picked/doubled off and it gets that much harder to score with so few baserunners. Don't forget to add in Izturis' daily DP.
  2. He is that guy with one more no-hitter than Greg Maddux. are you serious? lol mark buehrle is soooooooo much better than maddux! first ballot hof for sure now with that no hitter! let's vote hideo nomo in, he's TWICE as good as maddux! Let's not forget future HoF'er Anibal Sanchez! He too is much better than Maddux. I think Sanchez and Buehrle will have their own wing in Cooperstown. :joker: Sanchez is a very promising young player. In his rookie year last year he was 10-3 with a 2.83 ERA at 22 years old. I think Buerhle and Nomo make the better jokes.
  3. ....97,98,99.....
  4. Izturis leads the team in errors......Insult, meet my friend Injury.
  5. Dang you....I saw this and thought it was the actual line-up. For about 3 seconds I thought Lou finally did something good.
  6. Maybe we could trade him to SD for Maddux. Ugh, that deal still bugs me. I had no problems seeing Maddux go, but they didn't have to get that in return. I said it at the time...and I'll say it again...just giving Maddux away for nothing...just them paying the remainder of his salary last year...would have been preferable to izturis. I agree, but you're terribly, terribly understating it. It would have been a better deal if we paid the remainder of Maddux's money and just didn't have to take Izturis, he is that counter-productive.
  7. I'm guessing the reason now is that Pie is up for his defensive prowess in CF, so that only leaves 1 spot for JJ, Floyd, and Murton (in that order, I think). But I'd like to know why Murton is 3rd in the pecking order there. I don't think he's 3rd in the pecking order. My guess is that while this situation continues that Murton will get the 2nd most starts there. If he's not 3rd in the pecking order then why is he getting significantly less starts than the other two? A conundrum. He's not third in the pecking order now. Jones is the primary RF. Murton will get the starts against LH's. Floyd will have quite a bit of trouble getting many starts at all until Jones is traded. Floyd has started 50% of the games since Soriano has been back. Murton has started 0%. Its only 2 games, but I don't understand where your argument is coming from. Lou announced yesterday that in most games for a while, he has come to a set lineup. It includes Jones but not Floyd. Considering that Murton will still start against LH, that makes the only chance for a Floyd start something like possibly today when Soriano is likely sitting. Lou has said a lot of things that he hasn't stuck to. He politician'ed us over the offseason. I think that's where most of my disenchantedness comes from.

  10. I vote we change the name of this board from "game threads" to "depression central". Do I have a second?
  11. four soft tacos and a pair of used boxer briefs chicken or beef? Actually, I think they're cotton.
  12. Finally a post of your's that I agree with.
  13. Batting leadoff isn't seeming to help Soriano out like we thought, so we should go ahead and move him back. I would propose: Theriot SS/2B Murton RF Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Soriano LF Barrett C Pie CF DeRosa SS/2B Rotation: Zambrano Hill Lilly Marquis Guzman Bullpen: Dempster Wuertz Cotts Howry Cherry Ohman Marmol Bench: Blanco Floyd Ward Jones Fontenot (sp?)
  14. Do explain......is it Lou's fault that Soriano only has one measly RBI on the season, or that D-Lee is still awaiting his first HR, or Zambrano is pitching more like a fourth starter....or the fact that we could somehow have two .330+ hitters and still not be able to score runs. Come on, the talent is there for this team to be winning games, the players need to be accountable. Like I said, many deserving participants. But Izturis still playing, Eyre still pitching in crucial situations, Murton being crapped on. He sure said the right things in the offseason, but hasn't exactly followed through. I really dont understand why Murton isnt starting in RF, and Theriot isnt at SS everyday. Like someone said in BD (I think Sulley): Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Piniella clearly stated that producers will get the playing time. I would like to clearly state that he is a liar.

  17. Hendry is most to blame, but, during the season, he gets to hide in his office and whack off all day. Its hard to be disappointed in someone you have no expectations for.
  18. There are very many deserving participants, but I think I'm most disappointed in Lou so far this season.
  19. Derosa had been decent....Theriot needs to start for Izturis. DeRosa is much much much much much better than Izturis.
  20. GOOD NEWS!!!! If Izturis comes up, he can only make 1 out!!!
  21. I agree with most of that, but I don't want Eyre wasting valuable bench space, Hill might want to lay down.
