  1. I'd like to see him get a controlled start next week. Keep the pitch count low, but allow Z to throw some pitches against live hitting to stay sharp. I finally watched the post game comments last night on the news. I'm going to take Z's story at face value. Nobody's said anything about shoulder pain or discomfort. His grandmother died the day before. He's flying back n' forth from South America. Not a very good way to be prepared to start a baseball game. Lou's comments were pretty terse. I didn't realize Z had made a display out of it when he was pulled. I hope that whole thing blows over quickly. Yeah, when I heard about the grandmother thing it made more sense. Also, they said that Z apologized to Lou and it seems all is well.
  2. 3 days rest... don't be so sure Yost last words to Sveum before leaving The Brewers forever: Finish Him! :good: Are they really throwing Sabathia on 3 days rest? Sheesh, with Sheets being a question mark and Sabathia about to be on the receiving end of a Fatatlity, I might have to start rooting for the Brewers to make the playoffs.
  3. That wasn't even particularly close. Baaad call
  4. Just don't let your fiancee read this thread, I'm sure that would hurt her feelings. *wink*
  5. At least our pen is well rested.
  6. Reading that literally gave me chills
  7. Wrigley - 23
  8. I had a 3 hour drive home to Muncie from South Bend and I was scanning the stations and all of a sudden heard Pat's voice. I just happened to come across the Cubs game on an FM station, which I had never heard of before and started listening in the 8th inning. Then Pat mentions the Astros not having a hit and I almost went off the road. It was my own little miracle.
  9. We're going to look back at this season with bitter disappointment.
  10. Few option qb's can throw the ball well. Still feeling good? This might be a last possesion wins game. They're pulling away. They'll end up winning this comfortably. I guess, one goal line stand was the difference. I didn't realize how little time was left when I said that. It had the feel that BSU would have kept pulling away if there was more time. Its weird having a Ball State team that somewhat relevant nationally.

  12. I live about a quarter mile from the stadium and I'm hearing the crowd react several seconds before anything happens on tv.
  13. What a miserable inning for the mets.
  14. Lee's just out there to enjoy the experience. He doesn't really care about the dame. :P
  15. Craig would probably be a better choice than Dubois. Dubois is much better against RHP and we already have plenty of LH bench bats. Craig has much better numbers against LHP.
  16. Well, 17 and 22 still isn't a lot. While true, how many teams have the number 8 hitter on some days with 15? Lee and Aram not putting up enormous power is not that big of a deal. The lineup is consistent 1-8 and I would think Cubs fans would know from the past, hitting alot of HR's doesnt make you a good team. Yeah, our lineup is definitley the best in the league top to bottom even though we don't have anyone with a monster year.
  17. I wonder if the middle of the order will have a September power binge again. I personally hate hearing the excuses about day games, but it might make sense that players get fatigued in August when when they have to play more days games. Except they haven't played nearly as many day games as in years past.
  18. We're trying to keep steady with the Brewers in terms of pitcher abuse This isn't even close. He was at 91 going into the inning. Not a huge deal.
  19. Freaking Al Leiter was starting games. Our WBC team wasn't bad, but it had a lot of stupid choices. Leiter and Willis basically blew the whole thing for us. Edit: Also, they should have it in November or something so they don't have to worry as much about injuries and such.
  20. We should just make all the crappy teams send their best American players. We could have quite a team. Sizemore-CF Chipper Jones-3B Holliday-LF Adrian Gonzalez-1B McCann-C Markakis-RF Brian Roberts-2B Clint Barmes-SS (slim pickins...maybe put Roberts at SS and Brandon Phillips at 2B) Lincecum Peavy Cliff Lee Matt Cain Aaron Cook
  21. There aren't very many relievers that aren't converted starters if you count guys like Samardzija who never started in the majors.
  22. HE LIVES?!? "You're dead!! I killed you! I WATCHED YOU DIE!"
