No. It was soccer played at a very high level. If you didn't like it, then stop making the effort; it's not for you. There are always going to be flaws in anything. If the two major calls didn't happen against the US and England officiating would not have been a talking point. Outside of that the WC was a major success over here.

It's nice when a player gets a hit in that situation, it's pointless to focus on anybody's batting average in those situations, to highlight that batting average, and to discuss that batting average as if it's a meaningful description of a player. How well Brett Jackson hit with RISP in a partial season of AA ball tells you absolutely nothing about his future. I don't mind the stat, but in this case there are only 49 total ab's and with a perfect .333 avg he is probably something like 3-9 with risp and that makes the stat worthless.

I agree. There were a couple yellows that could have just been fouls (though handing out the cards weren't mistakes by any means) but on a lot of them, he had no choice but to hand out a card. I thought he was very fair, no complaints for me. Lucky De Jong was not sent off. All in all the officiating was solid throughout the tournament. However the bad games were beyond acceptable, the bad officials changed the aspect of the entire tournament and should not be allowed to even ref a friendly. From the quarters on they were pretty much perfect.

How on earth does Robben not chip Casillas? Or at least try to round him. Casillas is the best keeper I've ever seen at going from huge stretches of lulls to flurries of intense action and making the save. I have no idea why he didn't chip him. He was not at an angle at all; Casillas didn't really come out; you should pick a corner and fire if that happens. Since he had no right he spent two strides setting up his left, Casillas STILL guessed wrong, and he didn't elevate the shot. That was just awful. The fact that he didn't bother to dive on the second 1v1 with Puyol hanging on his waist was just filled with delicious, delicious irony. Digesting everything for the past 2 hours now makes me feel better for the way Donovan, Dempsey, and Bradley played. Donovan would have buried both of Robben's chances today. Dempsey would have created lots of opportunity vs either team, Bradley would have fit right in. Looking at '14 this might not be Brazil's best team. They will be hitting the age level Italy was at this past WC but of course are still Brazil and Pato should be the star of the team. In any other Country Germany would be the favorites. Argentina should be the best team during Conmebol. Holland will still have another chance with some more youth in the squad and the core players making their last WC. Ghana will be very good as should Mexico be.

I feel really bad for the Dutch; 0-3 in finals (with two losses coming to teams that had not won a World Cup either). I wanted the Netherlands to win, but, that said, I'm fine with Spain. I like their team and they've been the best team for three or so years. Not like Italy winning four years ago, ugh. And two Reds (Torres, Reina) are now champions. Two in extra time, Two to the host nation. The game plan was awful, they were worried about Spain from the beginning and looked empty from the midfield on up. Robin van Persie didn't do anything in 7 games. Yeah he was horrible. Funny Messi, C Ronaldo, Rooney, van Persie, and a few others couldn't score.

Robben had the breakaway and they had some other chances. Not to mention that De Jong should have been sent off when he got his yellow which would have put Spain up a man for 60 minutes and certainly changed the game. Yeah I don't feel bad for them, just the people. Frustrated personally. I like Spain, glad it wasnt [expletive] Brazil or Italy.
