Yeah I would rather sign Cliff Lee and use the prospects somewhere else then go for Greinke. I would love to have Greinke too, but he will be very expensive in terms of prospects and still needs a long term contract and he is a nut job but now a nut job with a very hot wife.

Arsenal might finally be making a move for a keeper if the Pepe Reyna rumors are true. That would be a very welcomed move, wish they would make a play for Howard, but will gladly take Reyna.

Greinke could completely lose it in Chicago, NY, or Boston. He almost needs to go to a Tampa type market, he is Milton Bradley types of crazy. With that said I would love to get Billy Butler.

Hrmm..... interesting idea, but there are so many things that can go wrong between now and then, I think we'd be better holding off a few years and signing him to an extention later. I would give him 2 years before that. Those are moves that a team like Tampa has to make.

I don't like Lane Kiffin. Well, to be fair, the Tennessee athletic department was in charge of hiring Kiffin. Not sure what they expected aside from a brief stay and NCAA investigation. If he was found doing anything major I wonder how USC would feel about it given everything they are going through.

I'm not. They basically have a 2-game season. And still if two teams from major conferences go undefeated they will still be ahead of BSU at the very end regardless of preseason rankings.

Understandable, but would have been nice to see him play for the US vs. Brazil with a lot of starters out.

It's kind of a reputation ranking I think, but they've still got some really good talent on that team. I'm interested to see how John Brantley does. Alabama is easily the class of the SEC, but I don't think Florida is too far behind. Florida and Texas will be very similar this year in the transitions they are making. Brantley and Gilbert are both very capable of running more of a pro-style offense.

according to fangraphs' player valuations - yeah i know, they're probably a bit inflated - and projecting out this year, lee has been worth almost $30m a year the last 3 years. so he's probably not that valuable, but if you look at his peers, he's been nearly as good as halladay the last 3 years, pretty much the same as sabathia. halladay was just given $20m/year in his mid 30s and sabathia was given $23m/year over 7 years. john lackey just got $16.5m/year from the red sox, a.j. burnett got the same, mark buehrle makes $13m/year, hell jeff suppan and randy wolf are making right around $10m/year. if you called cliff lee's agent and offered $40m over 4 years, you'd very quickly hear a dial tone on the other end of the line. if we're talking 4 year contracts, he should probably be aiming for about $80m. Based on his style I think he is a guy who could last until he 40. With Lilly gone if we move Zambrano I would make a strong offer Lee. I agree on the Butler part, you could maybe buy low on him this year. -
If he was called up today (I missed that), then you're perfectly fine in picking him up. I would disagree as that's still the whole point of the minor league draft. If Bryce Harper for what ever reason went straight to the pro's he shouldn't be fair game on the waiver wire.
