  1. That's hilarious.
  2. Only bad things are going to happen for Mabry if he continues to besmirch Mark Grace's number.
  3. I think the medical term for such a "tear" is an episiotomy. Actually, it isn't technically a tear, but a cut to prevent a tear. Please don't take me seriously...
  4. I don't think the ownership is cheap by any means. I just think we Cub fans deserve a $250 million payroll, whatever it takes to get us a championship.
  5. It's an age-old discussion. Protests won't answer the problem because the fan base is so strong and widespread. WGN coverage in the past has built a huge cult of Cub fans all over the country, so there will most likely always be a near sell out - especially with 2 or 3 franchise-type players on the team. Instead of blaming Cub fans for being loyal, who don't media outlets, etc. call for the Tribune Co. to give the brass an open wallet to have ONE PERIOD (not to exceed 3 year contracts) in which there is no limit as to what the club spends as far as salary goes. The Marlins did it in the late 90's and it worked. Cub fans deserve this a lot more than they deserve being criticized for being loyal fans.
  6. All that money, and Clemens is the only one of those 5 who is not really overpaid....
  7. I think, obviously, when Wood keeps the pitch count down and does not walk batters, he is going to be real tough - no matter how many he wiffs. It was nice to see KW throw less pitches per inning and only walk one. Let's see if he can do this consistantly. That is the key.
  8. I would say he was out because the kid SEEMS to have the plate blocked pretty well. His leg did get by him, but I can't tell from that angle if he got the foot on the plate. I'd have to assume he didn't, but don't have a clear view. Tough call, nonetheless.
  9. I hope you don't think I am totally serious. Dude.
  10. ...is doing this on purpose. I mean, can he possibly be this clueless as to the talent - or lack of talent - he has? Is it possible he is tanking the organization because of Hendry firing some of his staff a year or two ago? I really think that WooWoo could manage this team better. Does that sound so crazy?
  11. That is beautiful.
  12. Should I feel bad that I have never heard of this Bynum kid before this year? I mean, I am fairly abreast of what is happening in ML baseball. I keep up with whos doing what, and who is playing for who. Hell, I even play fantasy baseball - but I have never heard of this Bynum guy. Amazing how the Cubs acquire this mysterious answer to our bench problems. Oh, sorry. He's a starter, isn't he?
  13. I just don't understand why there is such a void in ML baseball for good leadoff men. I mean, there are plenty of FAST players. Speed is all they look for in camps, and organizations will draft a guy if he can run - regardless if he hits/throws like a Nancy. Find a fast guy who knows the strike zone, drill into his head the importance of taking a walk and working the count, teach him how to steal a base. Doesn't sound that freakin hard. Jeez, sign Rickey Henderson for the love of God. Light a fire under someone's ass.
  14. In addition, that ridiculous camo shirt he wears under his jersey has to go.
  15. I have this Dusty Baker jersey I got on Ebay that I am thinking about burning. I guess whenever I snap, I will take it outside and make it hot.
  16. The time it takes for a bone to heal is about 8 weeks. However, not knowing which bone(s) Lee broke in his wrist, or the severity - he could get his cast off as scheduled only to find that there isn't union, and needs more time to heal properly. Not to mention rehab. I fractured the scaphoid bone in my left wrist a couple of years ago, had a titanium screw inserted, and was in and out of a cast in 10 weeks. Now, when I got out of the cast I had to deal with the muscle atrophy, which takes several weeks to get back to normal - so anyone thinking DLee will be back sooner rather than later may be in for a rude awakening. Does anyone know specifically what bones were broken? It isn't really as bad as I was making it sound, and it is great that he didn't need surgery.
  17. In 2005, the Cubs entered the season without a true leadoff man. In 2006, there was no true #5 hitter and far too little power. Bruce, can you hit 5th for the Cubs? Excellent article.
  18. It actually looked like Matsui broke his arm. I don't know what constitutes the "Wrist," but that break looked to be a little above the wrist. Sick.
  19. I WISH we had an owner like George Steinbrenner.
  20. Can U Beat Someone?
  21. Where is Sammy?
  22. I don't understand the Neifi hate. My guess it is his misuse last year in the 2 spot in the order, which is Baker's doing - not Neifi's. Take last night for example. As stated, a great defensive stop that saved us a run late in a tight game, and a big hit. I'll take Neifi Perez. I won't be unhappy at seeing him playing some 2B with Walker at 1B until DLee gets back.
  23. Free swingers don't have .400 on-base percentages. Disciplined hitters don't have 150 strikeouts per year. I would say Dunn is a, well, I don't know what you call it.
  24. Maddux defined his career with the Braves. He'll wear a Braves hat unless he is part of something very special as a Cub this year or next. Things could change, let's hope they do.
