  1. Bonds, ARod, Clemens, and McGwire won't make the HOF. That is certainly something to be gained. mcgwire is at least borderline but you aren't gaining anything by keeping out bonds, arod and clemens. they're three of the all-time greats with or without steroids, and it's just embarrassing to the voters and the hall itself if those guys aren't elected. I love how since these guys took steroids in some people eyes that means they should never been in the Majors. Mcgwire-Probably would have been an all Star for a couple of seasons and consistent player so no HOF for him most likely w/o steroids. ARod-Probably is HOF worthy w/o steroids but it's a tougher decision. But he still would have another 5 years to show he's a clear cut selection. Clemens-goes to the hall w/o steroids. His career would have ended in his 30's compared to his 40's. Bonds-Still goes to the hall w/o steroids. He probably is still top 5 in HR's without the steroids. He gets the HR record with steroids. So although they took the roids it does not mean they were bad players and not HOF worthy. We need to get roids out of the game but lets try and think realistically here.
  2. I remember that game vs. Colorado I was sitting in the bleachers thinking well at least the beer is cold. Then they started coming back one of my better memories while being at a game. Oh yeah sign me up for the GDT.
  3. The first 2 weeks in April anywhere in the Midwest you are going to get the same thing. People really need to realize it does not remain in a constant state of cold in the Twin Cities. In December through February yes it does get bitterly cold. But it's really not that bad the rest of the year. This same it gets so cold argument was said about the new University of Minnesota's stadium (TCF Bank stadium). If were talking December thought February you got an argument. I'll even say the first two weeks of March can get bad. Opening day in Chicago you bring a coat. Same thing goes for the new stadium in Minnesota. I remember about 4 or 5 years ago going to a playoff game in Minnesota. I was walking around in shorts (it was 75 degrees) in Downtown Minneapolis. Struck up a conversation with an older gentleman and told him I was going to the game. His response was on such a beautiful day to bad you have to go inside to watch the game. I completely agreed.
  4. Put me in the crowd that thinks the team with a better record should get HFA. It was stupid doing the alternating thing. Then they decided to do something that makes even less sense. It boggles my mind when people think the ASG deciding the HFA is a good thing. So someone who's team doesn't even make the playoffs can decide that the 83-79 team who won a weak division gets HFA over the 105-57 team who dominated baseball all year.
  5. What drives me nuts about it more than anything else is how baseball is treated differently from football and basketball. This will ruin A-Rod's reputation. This will only add more ammunition to the people who argue that everyone in baseball is on steroids and is a cheater. It will hurt baseball. However, nobody talks about basketball and football in the same way. Cripes, Shawne Merriman testing positive got very little attention. When the Williams DTs tested positive for a banned substance, everyone automatically believed them when they said it was for a weight loss drug. No one seems to notice when guys in both sports look like they belong in professional wrestling. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if the NFL and NBA were just as tainted by the PEDs scandal. Yet, nobody says a freaking thing about it. However, this will lead to another Congressional hearing with another player's career destroyed. It'll be sickening and a waste of money. It's about timing. Right now there is little going on in sports. So a big deal will be made out of this. In pre-season for football it's the same time as division races in base ball are heating up. In basketball preseason happens when football is nearing mid-season (pro and college) also we are in League Championship's and the World Series for Baseball.
  6. While I can see rivals being over the top in there hatred of the cubs. What I think is funny is when you get someone who is a Twins fan or say Rockies fan who has the Cub hate. I really never get this. Your not a rival but for some reason you have the Cub hate going on. Never understood this mentality.
  7. Something like this scares me. Since I'm in Iowa, right now I get about 140 games. If something like this happened that amount my plummet.
  8. Wow that's not that bad. I'd probably be all over that if I lived in Chicago.
  9. In his book Lou Brock and Bruce Sutter were never really true Cardinals.
  10. Look at some of his other baseball videos. He thinks he is the all knowing source for baseball information. It's just sad in a hilarious way.
  11. +1 -1 I want to celebrate in Wrigleyville tonight, plus half the Cubs fans out there won't be able to see them clinch if its on FOX with the blackouts Today is not on WGN and is in the middle of a work day, so I would think even less will be able to watch the game today. Plus, I would like to see the Cubs clinch on the field. Not sitting at home waiting to see what the Brewers do. For me the sooner we clinch the better.
  12. Pinch hitting Z was dumb. He's a good hitter but come on look who we got on the bench tonight.
  13. I can't even believe what I saw. I figured this game was over but I watched the 9th just to make sure. Come on KW get the save.
  14. It's always a good thing when 14 year old Len comes out.
  15. Thanks Marmol and thank you Lou for not pulling him.

  18. Time for a Cubs win. My computer is working again too. :yahoo:
  19. My computer crashed on Saturday and was not able to get to a Computer until today. Getting to a computer over the next week may be an issue so if I don't get to it in time the next person can go. Today it's: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/mlb/421685.jpg 3-10 ERA 4.47 vs http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/mlb/133225.jpg 9-3 ERA 3.24 at http://ts2.images.live.com/images/thumbnail.aspx?q=1576367755649&id=d0e01d8ba292309de3b8d5c45fa8994e
  20. I hope Edmonds doesn't get to jacked up for this game and strikes out 4 times. I never thought I would make that statement.
