  1. Mets announcers think ball 1 just missed. They've gotten a couple right off the corner today, but that was several inches.
  2. An infield pop fly is probably the best possible outcome there.
  3. Sacrifice bunt moves Mabry into scoring positon for Cedeno and Neifi.
  4. “I do homework every night,” said the beleaguered Baker, whose team improved to 36-56. “It just seems like this year, the numbers haven’t really made too much sense. Some guy’s hitting .500 off a guy, and he doesn’t hit anything. Another guy’s 0-for-8, and he’s hitting. Sometimes numbers work. Sometimes they don’t.”
  5. 1.41 WHIP. Should not be on any Cy Young list.
  6. I'd like to see the overhead shot of ball 3, it looked awfully similar to some pitches the Mets guys have gotten called just off the corner.
  7. Yes.
  8. He brought Eyre in to start the inning. He faced 4 other guys before Delgado got up.
  9. This is when he should be used...I hate to say it, but you need his defense in close games. I could see if you had the lead, but I'm not sure his defense is more important than Walker's offense right now. The Cubs have 3 hits. Walker just got the last out...you want to try and win the game now at this point, not later. The pitchers spot is still seven spots away! It's not like it's going to be up early in the next inning. But, if the first three guys get on, then the next 2 makes outs, then the next guy walks, you'd have to pinch hit for the pitcher to have a chance to score again. Dusty just wants to play Neifi.
  10. Not his best, but it was way too deep for the SS to be taking instead of the CF. Pierre is just plain awful out there. I know his arm sucks, but do his stats show that his CF fielding is crap, too? I always thought he was considered a pretty decent CF when it came to doing Hendry's favorite thing. His speed makes it look better, but he takes awful routes. That ball was very high and shallow, and he took a couple steps back, and as the Mets announcers mentioned, he did the same thing last week against NY. I don't know his stats, but I don't think he gets to nearly enough balls.

  12. Where the heck was Pierre on that play?
  13. Cedeno has been terrible, and probably is comparable to or worse than Neifi right now, but this is his first season in the majors and he isn't going to improve by sitting on the bench. He's already played more than 162 games now though. After playing in the minors last year, he went and played in the winter leagues, and then game to spring traininng; not much rest for such a young kid. IMO he's just flat out tired right now. I think that's part of it. I don't want Neifi starting everyday. But Cedeno needs to sit for a couple games. Give Theriot some time.
  14. Wild, but effective. The best contact was a high warning track shot by Valentin and a grounder to first by Chavez. A few weak pops. His breaking stuff looked horrible, missing by several feet at times.
  15. The opposing pitcher is up over 100 pitches by the 7th. Shocking. He's thrown more today than he did in his last outing, which was a complete game shutout.
  16. He hasn't had it all year. This should be expected. He hasn't pitched much and had some injury worries, two things that can always end up causing control problems. Ohman gets the out. First time the Mets have been no hit through 6 innings all year.
  17. Looked to me like he was holding the ball in his glove and Dusty went in there to take it from him, as a sort of sign that he wants to keep pitching.
  18. Nice ovation from the fans. I like how Dusty handled that. Seemed he was ready to pull him even if he kept the no-hitter thru 6, which is the right move. He gave him one chance to finish and then that's it.
  19. Take stock of how he feels. He's right around 100, probably where they wanted to pull him. I'm guessing they are letting him now he has one more guy to get it done.
