  1. Punt to win
  2. Damn, good shot nobody gets in. http://www.baseballthinkfactory.org/newsstand/discussion/the_2012_hall_of_fame_ballot_collecting_gizmo So dumb.
  3. He was completely led into saying that, but ok.
  4. I'm excited about this. Not sure if it's because of Andy Reid or the rotating bag of ass coaches the last few years. BRING ON VICK
  5. Cards sign JR Towles to a MiLB contract. Somewhere Meph is weeping.
  6. How has anything from the Cubs been impressive this offseason? Our 2014 team is the same [expletive] sandwich it was 2 months ago. Except for the massively upgraded pitching staff.
  7. If Davis is a bust as a starter Wood is as well. At this point Davis has had more success than Wood as both a starter and reliever.
  8. Meanwhile... The Cards return for Schumaker is 23 year old SS Jake Lemmerman. Has a MiLB career line of .285 .377 .448 .825, although most of the SLG is from rookie ball. Struggles with contact/strikeouts, but posts solid BB rates. No idea how he rates defensively.
  9. The main hiccup in the logic is that the Royals were obviously looking at someone who was proven. Shields has pretty much done what Samardzija has done once for 6 straight years in the toughest division in baseball. And while I like Wood, Davis also has a bit more of a track record as well as talent on his side. IMO, to get the Royals package you're probably looking at Garza+Samardzija.
  10. Samardzija, Wood, Marmol and cash for Myers, Odorizzi, and Montgomery. Does that get it done? Barney and Jackson for Bauer? No chance. You could make the case that Shields and Samardzija is a wash due to Samardzija's age (3 years younger), his big upside (which in my opinion could be better than what Shields offers), extra year of control, and cheaper cost. Then it becomes a matter of Wood + Marmol + cash vs. Wade Davis That would be a pretty tough case to make.

  12. Because they have a fairly tight budget. Bourn, Swisher or Upton would have cost considerably more per season for more seasons, and they got the Indians to kick in cash on the deal.
  13. Solid counter move by Mozeliak.
  14. I know it's been discussed in the past, but we should be pursuing Hellickson aggressively. Their acquisition of Escobar might make Barney a less attractive option for them, but then again, Zobrist will be 32 in May, and is a free agent after 2013, and he could be an expensive one, so they might consider flipping him. Barney, DeJesus, and Vogelbach for Hellickson? Zobrist has 2 cheap option years I guess I read it wrong on BBR. But still, they could probably get a very nice return for him. Well, yeah. A 6 WAR player under contract for 3/21. Would cost a ton to get him.

  16. I think they're going to sign LaRoche and shop Morse for bullpen help.
  17. lolions
  18. I'm gonna be so pissed when the Chiefs inevitably take Barkley.
  19. Stanford's helmets are awesome.
  20. Could hurt his offensive value quite a bit too. He's averaged 36 infield hits+bunt hits per year the last 5 years. I'd be very wary paying big money to a guy who's tools almost solely rely on speed.
  21. How the hell can they call that a fumble when they ruled the player down and blew the whistle?
  22. Oh my goodness, is there anything more meatbally than challenging a player to a fight and then basically calling him a [expletive] on the record? I think you missed the whole story. He was out of baseball a year later.
  23. Was anyone watching this game? Gronkowski broke his arm 'late' in the 4th Quarter. Karma's a bitch if it was on this drive. Read somewhere that it was on the Pats last extra point.
