I think it will have the opposite effect on his future earnings. Teams will know that he essentially has 1 year less abuse on him and be more likely to include more guaranteed money.

He can sign as late as week 11. Less chance for injury and save wear and tear for entering UFA.

Idk if it’s my internet (storm came through and knocked out power for a bit a few hours ago) or MLB.TV but it’s been complete horsefeathers tonight. We both live in Wisconsin and we both had bad storms, so that's what it must be. I think it's MLB having issues.

An athletic 23 year old OF that hit .311 .385 .693 1.078 in AAA shouldn't surprise anyone. He has 1 WAR in 92 PA, was a top 100 prospect multiple years and has a good MiLB track record. It's OK to say he might actually be a pretty good player even though he's a Cardinal. He has a 12/1 k/bb in MLB, and had about an .820 ops in 550+ pa at aaa before that line this year. Ok? A top 100 prospect hit well in his first turn in AAA at 22 and got better, and is hitting well in MLB and that is somehow unexpected I guess? Your doomboner for Javy must be raging.

Having another not special 3-4 WAR player is somewhat useful I guess.
