  1. Well, time to go get some beer. Gonna try to watch the game this year.
  2. Looks like Lincecum is unavailable, so that sucks.
  3. Erin Andrews better be dressed awfully slutty the next time I see her, because today just didn't do it for me.
  4. He really needs to get out of San Diego and the other giant parks in the NL West.
  5. I don't really understand this line of thinking. He's a really good pitcher that has been stuck on horrible teams his entire career that is 1.5 years from a big pay day. If you go 6 good innings, why risk the 7th? If you're around 100 pitches, why go more? Keep that ERA as low as possible, the team isn't going anywhere anyways. I think he is actually the kind of guy that would thrive in a winning situation. Post season notoriety can bring in big bucks.
  6. Yeah, and I don't agree with him at all when he says the Cubs are taking a bigger risk than the Brewers. For one thing, We'll still have Z and Harden next year. Sheets and Sabathia are both goners (CC for sure, probably Sheets), and they gave up LaPorta, who was the likely replacement for Fielder when Prince leaves (though they still have Gamel, but I like LaPorta more). Gallagher is good, but none of the other players the Cubs gave up have any future on the team, nor were they elite prospects. Put it this way: if the worst were to happen and the Cubs implode down the stretch, we're still in fine shape going into 2009. If the same happens to the Brewers, they will have suffered a net loss (LaPorta and the PTBNL). Though if the Brewers did nothing they likely enter 2009 with Gallardo as their ace, but they still would have had their top ML ready prospect. Even if Harden were to suffer a catastrophic injury tomorrow, the Cubs wouldn't be out that much. I think he's talking about this year only. Harden has a lengthy injury history and the Cubs dealt their quality pitching depth to acquire him. So I think he's just pointing out that CC doesn't have the injury history and the Brewers didn't have to trade any current MLB players to get him.
  7. Good deal for both sides. Didn't sell the farm and got a top flight talent. Everything hinges on Hardens health. As a Cardinals fan I am very angry.
  8. I wouldn't this year. Reportedly, one of the factors influencing his decision to join the Cubs was that he WOULDN'T have to play CF. Let him get a full season of MLB experience under his belt first before considering moving him to a position he doesn't want to play.Fukudome is surely smart enough to realize that adding someone like Holliday is better for the Cubs than Fukudome staying in right.
  9. Take it fwiw.
  10. It's their Sunday home jersey because of the huge naval base that is nearby. IIRC the guys from the base have their own section reserved for them in RF.
  11. It sucks, but it's really not a huge deal. Pujols has been in the top 10 GIDP since his rookie year, save 2003. Just what happens when you get high contact hitters batting 3rd.
  12. 18 EDIT - 19
  13. Arguing that we have had some luck has no bearing on how lucky the Cardinals have been. We've had some players over achieve, and we've had some underachieve. It's hard to find anyone on the Cards roster that is underachieving right now. Troy Glaus is having his worst year since his rookie year. Adam Kennedy hasn't played near his career levels for about 2 years. Chris Duncan's OPS is 200 points below his career and he is slugging .333. Jason Isringhausen has an ERA of 5.74, the last time he was within 2 runs of that was 2000. Ron Villone is having the worst year of his 14 year career. Hell, there have been 7 pitchers in the bullpen that have ERA's over 5.00. As for the Brian Barton nonsense from earlier, he had 1 homerun in AAA because he played only 25 games. The guy had a career .893 OPS in the minors. Maybe you should look a little closer and use some objectivity.
  14. I've always liked Zimmer, but I wouldn't have cared if Pedro would have popped him. He was being a complete idiot. I personally think it was nice of Pedro to do what he did. Back on topic though, you think Chacon can post a 3.00 ERA for the Newark Bears?
  15. Erik Bedard and depending on Soriano's health, Raul Ibanez. But it seems like the Cubs are always linked to him somehow anyways.
  16. i have a special name for the national league baseball team in st. louis. it is very not appropriate for this forum. i hate them more than the brewers or dirty sox. the only good thing coming out of st. louis is I-64 as far as i'm concerned. Good for you.
  17. I'm guessing you're talking about "Mute and RedVerbs?"
  18. You said it..... Just trying to fit in...
  19. 5-5 on an Ankiel homerun. He must have gotten a shipment of HGH today lol, OMG!!!!1!!
  20. 5-4 Detroit on a Guillen homer.
  21. I think it's easy to see why the Tigers don't have a better record.
